Sheep sleep very lightly for only 3.8 hours per day, taking many short naps. They sleep in herds on their fronts rather than their sides to allow quick escape from threats. Wild sheep sleep with their heads uphill to better see approaching predators from below or falling rocks from above, but this positioning predisposes them to vaginal prolapse due to increased strain from gravity.
