5G will connect virtually everything around us to transform a wide range of industries — manufacturing, automotive, logistics, and many more, and we are on track to make 5G NR — the global 5G standard — a commercial reality by 2019. However, this first phase of 5G mainly focuses on enhanced mobile broadband services, which will contribute to part of the total projected $12T 5G economy. 5G NR will continue to evolve in Release 16 and beyond to further expand 5G’s reach to new devices, services, and ecosystem players.
One of the common questions that we encounter is why are 5G speeds so low as we were promised 5G downlink speeds of 20 Gbps. Most people do not understand how the 5G speeds are calculated and what do they depend on. In many cases, the network won’t be capable of delivering higher speeds due to some or the other limitation.
In this presentation and video we will look at the real world 5G speeds and try to map it to why these speeds are what they are.

MACHINE LEARNING FOR QOE PREDICTION AND ANOMALY DETECTION IN SELF-ORGANIZING ...ijwmn
Existing mobile networking systems lack the level of intelligence, scalability, and autonomous adaptability
required to optimally enable next-generation networks like 5G and beyond, which are expected to be Self -
Organizing Networks (SONs). It is anticipated that machine learning (ML) will be instrumental in designing
future “x”G SON networks with their demanding Quality of Experience (QoE) requirements. This paper
evaluates a methodology that uses supervised machine learning to predict the QoE level of the end user
experiences and uses this information to detect anomalous behavior of dysfunctional network nodes
(eNodeBs/base stations) in self-organizing mobile networks. An end-to-end network scenario is created using
the network simulator ns-3, where end users interact with a remote host that is accessed over the Internet to
run the most commonly used applications like file downloads and uploads and the resulting output is used as
a dataset to implement ML algorithms for QoE prediction and eNodeB (eNB) anomaly detection. Three ML
algorithms were implemented and compared to study their effectiveness and the scalability of the
methodology. In the test network, an accuracy score greater than 99% is achieved using the ML algorithms.
As suggested by the ns-3 simulation the use of ML for QoE prediction will help network operators understand
end-user needs and identify network elements that are failing and need attention and recovery.

FUZZY LOGIC APPROACH FOR FAULT DIAGNOSIS OF THREE PHASE TRANSMISSION LINEJournal For Research
Transmission line among the other electrical power system component suffers from unexpected failure due to various random causes. Because transmission line is quite large as it is open in environment. A fault occurs on transmission line when two or more conductors come in contact with each other or ground. This paper presents a proposed model based on MATLAB software to detect the fault on transmission line. Fault detection has been achieved by using Fuzzy Logic based intelligent control technique. The proposed method aims in presenting a fast and accurate fault diagnosis method to classify and identify the type of fault which occurs on a power transmission system. In this paper, some of the unconventional approaches for condition monitoring of power systems comprising of relay Breaker, along with the application of soft computing technique like fuzzy logic. Results show that the proposed methodology is efficient in identifying fault in transmission system.

A self-managing fault management mechanism for wireless sensor networks ijwmn
A sensor network can be described as a collection of sensor nodes which co-ordinate with each other to
perform some specific function. These sensor nodes are mainly in large numbers and are densely
deployed either inside the phenomenon or very close to it. They can be used for various application areas
(e.g. health, military, home). Failures are inevitable in wireless sensor networks due to inhospitable
environment and unattended deployment. Therefore, it is necessary that network failures are detected in
advance and appropriate measures are taken to sustain network operation. We previously proposed a
cellular approach for fault detection and recovery. In this paper we extend the cellular approach and
propose a new fault management mechanism to deal with fault detection and recovery. We propose a
hierarchical structure to properly distribute fault management tasks among sensor nodes by introducing
more ‘self-managing’ functions. The proposed failure detection and recovery algorithm has been
compared with some existing related work and proven to be more energy efficient.
AUTOMATIC FAULT TOLERANCE USING SELF ADAPTIVE SYSTEMMichael George
Fault tolerance (F-T) was an important issue in electronic device. However, such system was still impractical in many cases, particularly due to the complex rerouting process that follows cell replacement. In this project, proposed a dynamic reconfiguration capabilities system, therefore, a faulty module could be replaced and the whole system’s functions and connections were maintained by simply assigning the same encoded data to a spare (stem) module. The proposed system reroutes data flow. To detect permanent errors at runtime, a novel in-line test (ILT) method using spare wires and a test pattern generator wass proposed. In addition, an improved syndrome storing-based detection (SSD) method was presented. In the presence of permanent errors, the probability of correct transmission in the proposed systems was improved by up to 140% over the standalone hamming code. Furthermore, this method achieves up to 38% area, 64% energy, and 61% latency improvements.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
