This document discusses the use of videoconferencing as a telehealth tool for the elderly. It provides examples of how videoconferencing has been used in home care settings, nursing homes, and apartment complexes to enable communication between elderly patients and medical providers. Pilot programs in the Netherlands found that both patients and medical professionals had positive experiences with videoconferencing, finding it convenient and allowing for emotional connection. However, challenges remain in ensuring elderly patients can easily use the technology. More research is still needed but initial results are promising.
