This document provides instructions for completing CBMS Form 16 (Observation Record) and CBMS Form 17 (Spot-check/Re-interview Form) as part of the 2022 CBMS nationwide rollout. Supervisors are to use Form 16 to observe and evaluate enumerator interviews, noting their performance on mapping procedures, household interviews, and other tasks. Form 17 involves spot-checking households and re-interviewing some to verify the accuracy of enumerator responses. The summaries detail the key steps in completing both forms through either paper-and-pen or computer-assisted personal interviewing methods.

basketball, game played between two teams of five players each on a rectangular court, usually indoors. Each team tries to score by tossing the ball through the opponent’s goal, an elevated horizontal hoop and net called a basket.
The only major sport strictly of U.S. origin, basketball was invented by James Naismith (1861–1939) on or about December 1, 1891, at the International Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Training School (now Springfield College), Springfield, Massachusetts, where Naismith was an instructor in physical education.

James Naismith
For that first game of basketball in 1891, Naismith used as goals two half-bushel peach baskets, which gave the sport its name. The students were enthusiastic. After much running and shooting, William R. Chase made a midcourt shot—the only score in that historic contest. Word spread about the newly invented game, and numerous associations wrote Naismith for a copy of the rules, which were published in the January 15, 1892, issue of the Triangle, the YMCA Training School’s campus paper.
While basketball is competitively a winter sport, it is played on a 12-month basis—on summer playgrounds, in municipal, industrial, and church halls, in school yards and family driveways, and in summer camps—often on an informal basis between two or more contestants. Many grammar schools, youth groups, municipal recreation centres, churches, and other organizations conduct basketball programs for youngsters of less than high school age. Jay Archer, of Scranton, Pennsylvania, introduced “biddy” basketball in 1950 for boys and girls under 12 years of age, the court and equipment being adjusted for size.

Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.

Monitoring Health for the SDGs - Global Health Statistics 2024 - WHOChristina Parmionova
The 2024 World Health Statistics edition reviews more than 50 health-related indicators from the Sustainable Development Goals and WHO’s Thirteenth General Programme of Work. It also highlights the findings from the Global health estimates 2021, notably the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on life expectancy and healthy life expectancy.
Combined Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) Vessel List.Christina Parmionova
The best available, up-to-date information on all fishing and related vessels that appear on the illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing vessel lists published by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and related organisations. The aim of the site is to improve the effectiveness of the original IUU lists as a tool for a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand and combat illegal fishing and broader fisheries crime.
To date, the following regional organisations maintain or share lists of vessels that have been found to carry out or support IUU fishing within their own or adjacent convention areas and/or species of competence:
Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)
Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT)
General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM)
Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC)
International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT)
Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC)
Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO)
North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC)
North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC)
South East Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (SEAFO)
South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO)
Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement (SIOFA)
Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC)
The Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List merges all these sources into one list that provides a single reference point to identify whether a vessel is currently IUU listed. Vessels that have been IUU listed in the past and subsequently delisted (for example because of a change in ownership, or because the vessel is no longer in service) are also retained on the site, so that the site contains a full historic record of IUU listed fishing vessels.
Unlike the IUU lists published on individual RFMO websites, which may update vessel details infrequently or not at all, the Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List is kept up to date with the best available information regarding changes to vessel identity, flag state, ownership, location, and operations.

CBMS Form 16: Observation Record
Observing Interviews Conducted by ENs
The Head CBMS Area Supervisor (Head CAS), CAS, and Team
Supervisor (TS) should observe an enumerator (EN) while conducting an
interview. This is required so that the performance of the ENs could be
monitored.
However, it is important that the EN should not be interrupted while the
interview is ongoing. They should merely note down their observations
and comments on CBMS Form 16 (Observation Record) while the
interview is in progress.

CBMS Form 16: Observation Record
Observing Interviews Conducted by ENs
The observations and suggestions must be discussed with the EN right
after the interview. In this way, the errors committed can be corrected
immediately. The Head CAS, CAS, and TS should closely supervise the
ENs especially during the first few days of enumeration.
They should spend more time observing/supervising “weak ENs”, or those
ENs who have relatively poor quality of work, hence, do not meet the
standard output.

• failure to list all the buildings that are supposed to be listed;
• incorrect identification of points and/or plotting of geographic symbols on
the map;
• incorrect filling out of the listing booklet;

CBMS Form 17: Spot-check/Re-interview Form
Spot-checking and Reinterview of Households
The Head CAS, CAS, and TS should ensure the complete listing and
enumeration of all households in their respective areas of assignment. The ENs
were instructed to post CBMS Form 8A or CBMS sticker to indicate that the
household had already been interviewed. If no sticker had been posted, the
supervisors should inquire whether the household had been already interviewed
by an EN. All occupied and vacant buildings/houses should also have a sticker.
Check the area for possible inaccurate coverage of households especially along
barangay/EA boundaries, and omission of households situated in isolated parts
of the barangay/EA.

CBMS Form 17: Spot-check/Re-interview Form
Spot-checking and Reinterview of Households
Spot-checking and reinterviewing of households using CBMS Form 17
(Spotcheck and Reinterview Record) is done to verify if the EN adheres strictly
to the CBMS concepts and definitions and to the prescribed procedures in
conducting an interview. Entries in CBMS Form 17 should be matched by the
supervisor against the corresponding CBMS Form 2 (HPQ).
If there is any discrepancy in the responses given, especially if they had the
same respondent, the supervisor should promptly discuss the matter with the
EN. It is important that doubtful entries are verified with the household and
corrected/resolved promptly/immediately while the EN is still in the area.
