An ally is defined as someone who supports and empowers others from diverse groups through providing an outside perspective. Allies should work to organize communities, develop other allies, change systematic problems, and create moral standards and community connections. One should not become an ally simply to avoid their own group, alleviate guilty feelings, or feel superior. To become an effective ally requires establishing friendships with other groups, learning about other cultures, examining one's own prejudices, taking a stand on issues, promoting diverse leaders, supporting groups, making broad changes, and training others.
