Chandigarh: Punjab
Director General of Po-
lice Siddharth Chatto-
padhyaya on Saturday
said that there were in-
dications that the Lu-
dhiana court blast was
linked to Khalistani
and narco-terror ele-
ments operating from
Pakistan.
Addressing a press
conference, Chattopad-
hyaya said the main ac-
cused got in touch with
such elements “most
probably while he was
in jail in Punjab” where
he “transitioned from
just narcotics to mafia
and terror”.

Ahmedabad: Prime
Minister Narendra
Modi, while virtually
addressing a gathering
at the Lakhpat gurud-
wara in Kutch district
of Gujarat on Saturday,
said the dangers that
the Sikh gurus warned
about still exist. He add-
ed that the brave acts of
Guru Tegh Bahadur
against Aurangzeb have
taught the country how
to fight against terror-
ism and religious ex-
tremism.
“The dangers that
our gurus used to warn
against exists in the
same form even today.
So, we have to remain
alert and protect the
country. I have full
faith that with the
blessings of Guru
Nanak Devji, we will be
able to fulfill our aspi-
rations and the country
will reach a new
height,” PM Modi said
while speaking on the
occasion of Gurpurab
celebrations.
Modi’s appeal to the
Sikh community came
two days after the blast
that took place in Pun-
jab’s Ludhiana district
court complex.
alking about Guru
Nanak Devji and his
teachings, Modi said
during the period when
the Sikh guru was born,
foreign invaders were
destroying the confi-
dence of India. “The
India, which used to
guide the world, was in
danger. If Guru Nanak
Devji had not spread his
light, then what would
have happened? Guru
Nanakji and the gurus
after him not only kept
the consciousness of
India glowing, but also
carved out a way to
keep India safe.”

Chandigarh: Ahead
of the Assembly elec-
tion in Punjab sched-
uled early next year,
around 22 farmers’ un-
ions, that were part of
the umbrella body
Samyukt Kisan Mor-
cha (SKM), have come
together to float a po-
litical party Samyukt

Punjab assembly elec-
tions.
The political front of
farmers in Punjab will
be led by farmer’s lead-
er Balbir Singh Rajewal
and will contest the up-
coming polls on all 117
seats in the state.
Addressing media,
Rajewal said, “A new

bly elections. 22 unions
have taken this deci-
sion. We need to change
the system and want to
appeal to people to sup-

SACKED COP WENT
TO ASSEMBLE BOMB
Punjab DGP Siddharth
Chattopadhyaya on Satur-
day said the initial inves-
tigation into the Ludhiana
district court blast case has
revealed that the former
state police head constable,
Gagandeep Singh, who
was killed in the explosion
had gone to the washroom
to assemble the bomb
and plant it somewhere. A
resident of Khanna, Singh
was dismissed in 2019 in
connection with a drugs-

HAVE SEVERAL PARTIES’ OFFERS, WILL THINK
WISELY: HARBHAJAN ON INNINGS IN POLITICS
Chandigarh: Ex-India cricketer Harbhajan Singh,
who announced his retirement on Friday amid buzz
he could join electoral politics, claimed on Satur-
day that he is fielding offers from several parties.
However, the off-spinner, who helped India win the
2011 World Cup, refused to be drawn
on speculation and only said that
his future (post-cricket) plans were
“something I have not decided”.
“Future plan is something I have not
decided, I will stay connected with
cricket... it is because of cricket peo-
ple know me. As far as my political
career... when it happens, I will
let everyone know.”
MOVED STEP BACK, WILL MOVE FORWARD
AGAIN: AGRI MIN TOMAR ON FARM LAWS
New Delhi: Union Agriculture Minister Narendra
Singh Tomar has said that the Modi government was
not disappointed due to repealing of the farm laws.
He said that the government has
taken a step back but will move
forward again. “We brought
agriculture amendment laws. But
some people did not like these
laws which were a big reform
brought about 70 years after In-
dependence under Prime Minis-
ter Narendra Modi’s leadership…But the government
is not disappointed, we moved a step back and we
will move forward again because farmers are India’s
backbone,” said the union agriculture minister.
OUR TERM IS FOR 5 YRS
BUT YOURS FOR 25-30 YRS
New Delhi: Union
Home Minister Amit
Shah on Saturday sug-
gested all the civil serv-
ants should understand
the importance of their
role, saying “our (poli-
ticians) term is for five
years, but yours terms
is for 25-30 years” so
they have a bigger re-
sponsibility.
Stressing the need to
adopt different ways of
good governance to
benefit maximum peo-
ple, Shah, while ad-
dressing the conclud-
ing session of the
“Good Governance
Week” event here, also
urged the civil servants
to understand the spir-
it of the rules despite
reading it like paper.
The Home Minister
said even law should
not be read as like a pa-
per and its purpose and
spirit should be under-
stood.
“Elected govern-
ments make law but it
is yours (civil servants)
responsibility to imple-
ment it. Understanding
its spirit, you have to
do the work of bringing
it to the bottom. A spe-
cial kind of trust has
been placed on you peo-
ple in our constitu-
tion,” Shah said.
“All of us (politi-
cians) who come here
come for five years. Af-
ter five years, the peo-
ple of the country de-
cide whether to give us
the reins of the coun-
try or not. In this sense,
our term is five years
but you come for 25-30
years because the con-
stitution has faith in
you. That’s why I want
to tell you that you have
more responsibility
than us.”
He further said that
the administration
should run as per rule
because it is very im-
portant but it is also im-
portant to consider the
role of the particular
department. More on P8

AJIT PAWAR WARNS OFFICIALS AGAINST
TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THEIR POSITION
Mumbai: Senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis on
Saturday hit out at the Maharashtra govt, saying that
its “outright refusal” to slash the excise duty on petrol
and diesel, has
exposed the hol-
lowness of some
of its leaders, who
blame the Centre
for the fuel price
hike. He also
warned that the
BJP would launch
an agitation to
press for its demand to slash the fuel prices in the
state once the winter session of the state legislature
ends. “The most discouraging stand of the Maha Vi-
kas Aghadi (MVA) govt has been its flat refusal to cut
excise duty on fuel prices. There were some leaders
from this govt who held cycle rallies against the Cen-
tre for high prices of fuel,” Fadnavis told reporters.
Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit
Pawar on Saturday warned officials against taking
advantage of their posts like in case of the alleged
malpractices in
the Teachers’ Eli-

and asked them
to ensure proper
functioning of
educational in-

was addressing a

minister referred to the recent arrest of Maharashtra
State Council of Examination (MSEC) commis-
sioner Tukaram Supe in connection with the alleged
irregularities in TET, and warned officials not to take
advantage of their position.

Kolkata: Dismissing media reports that claimed
he had approved exclusion of areas of Bally

on Saturday said it is under consideration as
inputs from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee are
awaited. He had earlier accused the TMC govern-

Howrah Municipal Corporation amendment bill
sent to him for his assent. Taking to Twitter, he
said “Reports in media that West Bengal Gover-

PDIL Director sent back to parent organisation
Rakesh Ranjan
New Delhi: PDIL Direc-
tor (Finance) DS Sud-
hakar Ramaiah, on
loan from Hudco for the
last five years, has re-
turned to his old post of
GM of the government-
owned housing finance
company following an
official order that has
surprised many
.
Because the director
had another one and
half year for retire-
ment, the order is seen
as a punishment for
probably his alleged un-
willingness to comply
with certain instruc-
tions even though Ra-
maiah was given a five-
year fixed tenure on
PDIL that he completed
on October 31, 2021.
Tenuresof Board-level
executives are normally
extended if the residual
service is not long. Keep-
ing in view the norms
and precedence the Gov-
ernment could have ex-
tended his term till he
reached his retirement
age in July 2023 but the
ministry is seen to have
chosen to relieve him
rather unceremoniously
.
It is rumored that Ra-
miah was at logger-
heads with his immedi-
ate junior. Besides, on a
few occasions, he is said
to have shown reluc-
tance in complying with
instructions from the
ministry. Whatever be
the reality
, development
is reminiscent of an ap-
parently similar abrupt
move of the Ministry of
Power sacking the Di-
rector Human Resourc-
es of NHPC last month,
even though PDIL’s may
be a different case.
Ramaiah had joined
PDIL as Director (Fi-
nance) in first week of
October 2016 and also
held additional charge
of Chairman & Manag-
ingDirector(CMD)from
08.11.2016 to 07.10.2018.
Prior to joining PDIL, he
was working as General

NEWLY PASS OUTS:
INDIA’S NEXT FUTURE
The world-renowned
company Tower Watson,
recently conducted a survey
in Asia’s Developing
Countries about salaries
offered to fresh pass outs.
According to the survey done
with eleven countries, India’s
place in paying to entry-
level employees is ninth
here is plenty of youth in In-
dia, also there are lot many
opportunities for young peo-
ple. Youth of this country is
emerging as major opportu-
nity for the development. The
population of Indian Youth is
more than other develop
countries. The hope of devel-
opment in India is based on
it’s the young blood. The
country’s economy is getting
stronger with the strength of
its youths.
In the corporate sector,
thirty to forty percent of the
youth contribute in maxi-
mum of the company’s
growth, as they come up with
different creative ideas in the
development of new prod-
ucts and in the company’s
progress. Most of the compa-
nies recruit 5 to 10 percent of
freshers every year, the pur-
pose behind this is to have
new ideas and changes in the
company’s culture.
Still there is no regular re-
cruitments of fresh pass outs
employees in unorganized
sector. As in this sector, old,
experienced and trusted em-
ployees are kept at the top
only. Older employees know
everything about company,
but have little use of new
ideas or new technologies.
But in the organized sector,
the importance of fresh em-
ployees has been found.
A new programs are or-
ganized in the company for
fresh pass outs employees,
while on the other hand, the
disappointment is that entry-
level employees in India are
paid the least amount of com-
pensation and salaries. This
is a matter of concern. Indi-
an corporate entrepreneur
pay very less to freshers in
comparison to other coun-
tries in Asia.
The world-renowned com-
pany Tower Watson, recent-
ly conducted a survey in
Asia’s Developing Countries
about salaries offered to
fresh pass outs. According to
the survey done with eleven
countries, India’s place in
paying to entry-level em-
ployees is ninth.
According to this survey,
the average pay scale of en-
try level employee in India is
estimated to be around US $
400 which is approximately
25,000 rupees. This amount
is roughly one-fifths com-
pared to countries like South
Korea and Singapore.
There is a good news for
those working in middle level
with 4-5 years of experience
that their return status is
very good as compared to en-
try level employees. Accord-
ing to the survey for middle
management level people,
the annual package is of 15-
20 lakhs, which is almost half
theamountof China.Against
this, India has less cost of liv-
ing as compared to China. In
other countries like Singa-
pore, employees in the mid-
dle management level are
given more salary packages
than China.
The officials of Tower Wat-
son consider India as strong
contender in the world for
growth and development,
though the less returns of
the entry level employees can
be frustrating for them.
While India’s entry-level em-
ployees rank number one in
the face of intellect and skill,
Indian youth has a lot of ex-
pertise in IT and manufac-
turing. One thing has been
emphasized on, in the Survey
is that if you want young peo-
ple of India to stop going in
other countries, then they
should be given a respectable
salary package. If they get
the payment as per the re-
quirement and their skill set
in other countries, then they
should be paid for the same
at home.
The tips for how much
compensation should be
given to the employees of
the Fresh Pass Out.
1.Fresh Pass Out youth
should be offered honora-
ble package so that they
maintain their enthusi-
asm at work.
2.Entry-level employees
should be given to work on
short projects giving easy
success, so that their en-
thusiasm can be well
maintained.
3.Entry-level employees
should be paid incentives
inclusive with fixed salary
in every six months.
4.There is a little lack of pa-
tience in the youth class,
so plan should be made so
that they stay for long in a
company

Under the Darbar

New Delhi: The threat
of a third Coronavirus
wave in the country on
the back of the new
Omicron variant of the
virus appears to be in-
creasing as the tally of
the Omicron variant
across states reached
415 in the last 24 hours.
As per the latest
health bulletin issued
by the government, the
state of Maharashtra
has the maximum cases
of the new variant at
108 followed by the na-
tional capital which has
traced 79 such cases so
far. Other states which
have traced a large
number of Omicron
variant cases include
Gujarat (43), Telangana
(38), Kerala (37) and Ta-
mil Nadu (34). The tally
of Coronavirus cases
also seems to be inching
up in the last few days
with the positivity rate
of the infection increas-
ing rising across sever-
al regions including
Delhi and Maharash-
tra. The total number
of Covid-19 cases re-
ported in the country in
the last 24 hours is 7,189
new infections. The
number of Covid-19 pa-
tients who succumbed
to the disease remained
387 in the last 24 hours.

well as the state govern-
ments have articulated
in clear terms that the
threat of a fourth Cov-

ernments have also

some course correction
in the party is impor-

Days after making a

Rawat today said that
sometimes expressing
pain proves to be bene-
ficial for the party.
Speaking to ANI, Raw-
at said, “Some course
correction is important
to win upcoming elec-
tions. AICC is the su-
preme command. The
state in charge is the
coach. The role of play-
ing captain is very im-

be coordination of con-

Sometimes expressing
pain is also beneficial
for the party.”

Where will India’s startups get all of their pilots?
T
wo Indian
c a r r i e r s
will ‘begin’
operations
in 2022: Aka-
sa Air and Jet Airways.
Indeed, while Jet Air-
ways is a revival of
sorts, it has mostly had
to start back at the be-
ginning since its col-
lapse in April 2019.
With the two airlines
getting themselves set
up to fly passengers
next year, their hiring
departments are in full
swing, looking to se-
cure their own pools of
pilots and other staff.
Accord- ing to
sourc-
es and observers, the
carriers are seeking
crews from other air-
lines such as IndiGo
and SpiceJet.
Indeed, some person-
nel from these estab-
lished carriers have
already received offer
letters. Headhunters
are seeking senior em-
ployees from existing
airlines, while a Spice-
Jet pilot has reported
that some of their col-
leagues have already
left, with others in the
middle of serving their
notice period before
moving over.
A senior executive
wishing to com-
ment anonymously
said that it was not sur-
prising for pilots to
leave SpiceJet to join
Akasa, “especially
those who have not
been paid their full
dues. After all, both air-
lines have the Boeing
737 MAX.”
Poaching from
SpiceJet would
be easier
With most of this activ-
ity happening behind
the scenes, there are no
clear numbers or met-
rics to measure the
shift of pilots from one
airline to another. How-
ever, it would be safe to
say that pilots from
SpiceJet would be the
preferred target for
Akasa Air.
That’s because the
startup airline will op-
erate the Boeing 737 –
an aircraft type that is
at the heart of Spice-
Jet’s short and medi-
um-haul operations.
Considering the fact
that pilots coming from
this budget airline
would be trained on the
737, much of Akasa’s
work would be already
completed. This would
reduce the need for hir-
ing and then retraining
Airbus-focused pilots
for its Boeing fleet. The
Airbus A320 and
A321neo are the main
types of aircraft oper-
ated by IndiGo.
The picture for Jet
Airways is a little more
vague. The airline has
yet to disclose details
for its future fleet: Its
leadership has stated
that the plan is to have
50+ aircraft in three
years and 100+ in five
years. Jet Airways is
reportedly poised to
place a large aircraft
order in the near fu-
ture, although it has
yet to determine (or at
least disclose) what
types of aircraft it will
operate. The airline’s
first run, prior to its
2019 collapse, saw it op-
erate an overwhelm-
ingly Boeing fleet- espe-
cially for its narrow-
body jets.
For their parts,
SpiceJet and IndiGo
have denied a move of
pilots away from their
fleets towards the new
carriers. A SpiceJet
spokesperson said that
“the information [of
commanders and first
officers leaving] is ab-
solutely wrong and de-
nied,” while IndiGo
says “very little to neg-
ligibleattrition”among
its pilots has taken
place over the last two
years.
IndiGo says it’s in a
similar situation with
its engineers, ground
staff, and cabin crew.
However, it admits that
“that there will always
be opportunities for tal-
ent given the way this
industry is evolving.”
As the industry re-
covers and new carri-
ers fight for their share
of the market, it looks
like a job in India’s avi-
ation industry might
be an excellent way to
go- whether it’s as a pi-
lot or other crew.

A year of record trade
amid frozen India-China ties over Ladakh chill
New Delhi: India and
China achieved a ma-
jor milestone this year
when their bilateral
trade crossed the land-
mark figure of USD
100 billion but it did
not generate any fan-
fare in both capitals as
the two Asian giants
are going
through a particular-
ly bad patch in their
relations due to a set
of actions by Beijing
in violation of agree-
ments that led to the
military standoff in
eastern Ladakh.
Starting with a
modest USD 1.83 bil-
lion in 2001, the bilat-
eral trade crossed
USD 100 billion-mark
in the first 11 months
this year, a significant
milestone for which
the two countries car-
ried out campaigns to
boost trade and build
it as a major stake-
holder to improve the
relations between two
nations, whose ties
otherwise remained
frosty over the fester-
ing boundary dispute
and strategic rivalry
.
According to last
month's data from
China's General Ad-
ministration of Cus-
toms (GAC), the India-
China bilateral trade
totalled USD 114.263
billion, up 46.4 per
cent year-on-year from
January to November
2021.
India's exports to
China reached USD
26.358 billion, up 38.5
per cent year-on-year
and India's imports
from China amounted
to USD 87.905 billion,
up 49.00 per cent.
However, while the
bilateral trade crossed
the USD 100 billion
mark, the trade deficit
for the 11 months,
which is of India's ma-
jor concern all along,
stood at USD 61.547 bil-
lion, up 53.49 per cent
year on year.
India's concerns
over the trade deficit
notwithstanding, the
landmark record vir-
tually went without
any fanfare as the bi-
lateral relations re-
mained frosty over the
lingering military
standoff in eastern
Ladakh.
The border standoff
between the armies of
India and China erupt-
ed on May 5 last year
following a violent
clash in the Pangong
lake areas and both
sides gradually en-
hanced their deploy-
ment by rushing in
tens of thousands of
soldiers as well as
heavy weaponry
.
As a result of a se-
ries of military and
diplomatic talks, the
two sides completed
the disengagement
process in the Gogra
area in August and in
the north and south
banks of the Pangong
lake in February

people from good gov-
ernance is that “the de-
velopment model
should be universal and
all-encompassing”.
“There should not be
any area of the country
in which development
does not take place and
there should not be any
personinthesocietywho
is not included in the
model of development.

alleged that despite
getting approval by the
President in 2014, the
central government has
not made the norms un-
der this act.
He also announced
financial assistance of
Rs 2 lakh from the
Chief Minister’s Relief
Fund for Amra Ram,
30, a resident of Pareyu
village of Barmer, who
was kidnapped and
beaten up and his legs
pierced with nails by a
group of attackers on
Tuesday. After CM’s
strict stand, the gov-

ordered a probe by the
CID-CB after which the
police set up a Special
investigation team
(SIT) headed by SIT
headed by SP CID-CB
Gaurav Yadav and sent
to Barmer for an inves-

Crime, Ravi Prakash.
The cheque of Rs 2
lakh and a sympathy
letter by the CM was
handed over to Amra
Ram by Barmer ADM

MDM Hospital.Gehlot
said that around seven
years ago on February
21, 2014 ‘The Whistle
Blowers Protection Act
2011’ was passed by the
Rajya Sabha and later
on May 9, 2014, the Pres-

on it. But even after
seven years, the Centre
has not framed the
rules, the CM alleged.
After Gehlot directed
the Jodhpur collector

met the RTI activist

HOW HARISH
RAWAT IMPRESSED
HIS OPPONENTS IN
THE PARTY!
Harish Rawat had
complained to High
Command that ‘he is be-
ing asked to swim in the
sea with his hands and
feet tied with various
crocodiles whose orders
he is supposed to follow.’
In fact, he was target
ting his friends includ-
ing Yashpal Arya, Dev-
endra Yadav etc. Deven-
dra Yadav, Congress in-
charge of Uttarakhand,
was taking decisions
without taking him into
confidence. When the
water started passing
above his head, Rawat
got angry and sat at
home. Priyanka Gandhi
spoke to Rawat, sum-
moned him to Delhi. Be-
fore meeting Rahul,
Rawat and Priyanka
held a closed-door meet-
ing for two hours and a
middle way was sorted
out. Party’s working
president Sonia Gandhi
was already favouring
Rawat. It was also de-
cided that reins of Utta-
rakhand polls would be
handed over to Rawat
and his leadership
would be acceptable to
everyone in the party
. If
Congress got majority
in the state, CM would
be decided by elected
MLAs. A senior leader
will keep an eye on this
and he will also look af-
ter coordination. The
names of two senior
party leaders Ambika
Soni and Anand Shar-
ma are being discussed
for the same. After meet-
ingPriyankaandRahul,
Rawat met Ambika. So-
nia believed that most
of the big faces of North
India have become part
of the disgruntled G-23
faction of the party
, so it
is necessary to keep
Rawat’s allegiance to
Gandhi family
.
WHY DOES
KEJRIWAL GET
ANGRY?
Arvind Ke-
jriwal has
the ability to
give new faces
to the silence of politi-
calgrounds.OnWednes-
day
. Kejriwal was taking
an important meeting
in the CM Office regard-
ing Covid-19’s third
wave and Omicron
scare, wherein Delhi’s
Transport Minister
Kailash Gehlot, Health
Secretary, Transport
Commissioner and
DTC’s MD were present.
Kejriwal, while remind-
ing about lessons learnt
during the second wave
of Corona, said that
they had to face short-
age of oxygen tankers
the government then
had decided that it
would buy five oxygen
tankers with its own
money
. Kejriwal wanted
to know from Transport
Commissioner that
why these tankers
haven’t been pur-
chased till date.
The Commis-
sioner replied
saying that
t e n d e r s
were in-
vited
for
this,
but till now no party
has been awarded ten-
der the minister who
is heading tender com-
mittee could tell more
about it. Hearing this,
the CM lost his cool. He
warned the minister
saying, ‘The tender
award should be held
today itself, I will give
you time till six in the
evening.’ But even if
tender is floated, it will
take two-three months
to get the tanker. Can
the third wave of Coro-
na wait for this?
WHO WANTS TO
WEAKEN YOGI?
UP CM Yogi Adity-
anath is also known
for his ‘Thakur love’
apart from tough and
quick decisions as an
administrator. It is also
a well known fact that
there is an open war be-
tween him and party’s
General Secretary Sunil
Bansal. So, as soon as
thepartyunderBansal’s
leadership took an im-
portant decision that
only 30-32 Thakur candi-
dates would be fielded
this time in view of pub-
lic dissatisfaction
against Thakur MLAs,
Yogi lost his temper
convened a secret meet-
ing of trusted Thakur
MLAs and talked about
weaving a new strategy
.
Yogi loyalists believe
that a section of the
party wants to weaken
Yogi’s claim for the
CM’s post in 2022 by cut-
ting the tickets of
Thakurs, but Yogi will
notallowthistohappen.
RAHUL IN NEW
AVATAR!
Rahul Gan-
dhi is
seen in a
new ava-
tar these
days as in-
stead of
hisoffice,
he him-
self is contacting the
leaders. Now party lead-
ers and workers have
stopped getting direc-
tionsfrom‘OfficeRahul’.
Be it Alankar Sawai or
Kaushal Vidyarthi, they
have been put in cold
storage for the time be-
ing. Right from scolding
Sidhu, to resolving the
discord in Uttarakhand,
Rahul himself took the
initiative. Yes, Mukul
Wasnik is seen walking
around Rahul nowadays
 Rahul is also listening
to his advice.
WHICH PARTY IS
THIS?
The graph of UP’s one
of the significant
parties, which has sur-
rendered to BJP
, is con-
tinuously declining in
poll sensex. There has
been a lot of buzz in UP
that this party will play
asBJP’s‘TeamB’in2022
polls. Due to which par-
ty’s political dominance
have declined steadily
.
Accordingtosourc-
es,partyhadini-
tially auc-
tioned six
tickets at the rate of Rs 4
crore per assembly
,
which came down to Rs
1.50to3crorein100 seats,
the chances of party’s
victory are quite grim.
Now Rs 65 lakh is being
demanded for single
ticket. At present, 150
seats are left, but party
ticket bidders have van-
ished, those who take
tickets by paying mon-
ey, are now considering
expenditure of Rs 35-40
lakh as ‘wasteful.’
CENTRE’S NOOSE
AROUND AKHILESH’S
CLOSE FRIENDS
With UP polls near-
ing, Income Tax
raids are being conduct-
ed at places close aides
of SPsupremoAkhilesh
Yadav. Recently
, Akhile-
sh’sformerOSD,Jainen-
dra Yadav alias Neetu,
Manoj Yadav, party
spokesperson Rajiv Rai
and business man Rahul
Bhasin faced the raids.
But the most important
thing is that the media
was aware of this raid
beforehand. During the
raid at perfume trader
Piyush Jain, cash above
Rs 150 crore was seized.
Now BJP claims that
this money was a part of
SP’s election fund.
WILL THE LOTUS
BLOOM LIKE THIS?
Even after Agricul-
ture Bills were
withdrawn, the saffron
graph is not able to
climb up in western UP.
Witnessing huge crowd
in RLD leader Jayant
Chaudhary’s poll ral-
lies, BJP now wants to
associate with him so
that Akhilesh can be
given a shock after polls.
The party has engaged
its young face Union
Minister Anurag
Thakur to help Jayant.
Anurag and Jayant
share an old friendship.
At the same time, BJP
has also made efforts to
make a dent in Yadav
family, assimilating the
proven policy of the
British state of ‘divide
and rule. ’Under this
policy
,theuncle-nephew
i.e. Shivpal and Akhile-
sh have been targeted.
...AND FINALLY
In wake of Covid’s
thirdwave,Allahabad
HC has suggested to
postpone UP polls for
timebeing.whichwould
thenbeheldonlyinJuly
.
Presently, BJP has to
struggle a lot in UP, re-
sults of their internal
opinionpollsarealsogo-
ing to blow Lotus’s spir-
its. A section of BJP
considers it to be a wise
decision, while some
others in party believe
that ‘BJP is a poll-living
party, so whatever is
situation, polls should
be held on time.’

t’s the season of
Christmas, we
can hear the
bellsringingand
the Church that
was lit up with
scintillating
lights, the great star
that led the Magi, the
threeKingstoChrist
are still shining,
but do we relate
to the real es-
sence of
Christmas?
Has Santa stolen
the light that shone
upon Jesus Christ as a
baby
. In a conversation
with Fr Garrett Gund-
lach SJ, we found out
about the message that
Christmas brings us
along with the joy
, peace
and salvation that
makes this season mer-
rier.
We know that Christ
was born in a man-
ger to Virgin Mary
on a cold night, the
only Son of God who
was sent to earth in
the form of flesh to
redeem the sins of
mankind. What
makes Christ-
mas so spe-
cial?
Christmas is a holiday
of closeness - not just
of familiesandfriends
coming closer togeth-
er, but most especially
a holiday of God’s
closenesstous.Thisis
amazing because we
believe that God is the
massively powerful
creator of the uni-
verse - but here at
Christmas, God de-
cides to become hu-
man. Why? To come
closer to us. To love us
from up-close and per-
sonal, face-to-face.
And this closeness
was magnetic - it
brought kings
from far
away to feel
it, it brought
s h e p h e r d s
from the fields -
and it would
bring all sorts of
people to Jesus
throughout his life!
When we look at the
baby Christ lying in
the Manger among
the shepherds, kings
along with Mary
and Joseph. Why is
there a focus on this
scene of Nativity,
why not just baby Je-
sus?
For the same reason
whyforChristiansthe
chief symbol is the
cross; these things re-
mind us of the deep
humility
of God’s love. God
came close to us not as
a magical king in a
beautiful palace and
armies, but as a poor
baby who would share
many of the same
physicallimitationsas
us - he would even let
himself be martyred,
killed for his mission,
killed for his trans-
formative witness to
God’s love.
What does Santa re-
mind you of and how
must we keep the
Spirit of Christmas
alive?
Just as God gave Jesus
Christ as a gift this
Christmas, we are in-
vited to give ourselves
to one another, com-
mitting ourselves to
work for a more just,
loving, and peaceful
world. For this diffi-
cult work, we are
strengthened by the
grace of this holiday
.
And this is exactly
whatSanta-originally
SaintNicholas-helped
us to remember; he
was a model of gener-
ous giving. Unfortu-
nately
, now when we
think of Santa we just
think of getting, not
giving, so let’s go back
to his roots: who is in
need around us? How
can we freely give in
love to meet their
needs like God so free-
ly gave Jesus
and Jesus’
love?

Khalistani role in court blast being probed: Punjab DGP Chandigarh: Punjab Director General of Po- lice Siddharth Chatto- padhyaya on Saturday said that there were in- dications that the Lu- dhiana court blast was linked to Khalistani and narco-terror ele- ments operating from Pakistan. Addressing a press conference, Chattopad- hyaya said the main ac- cused got in touch with such elements “most probably while he was in jail in Punjab” where he “transitioned from just narcotics to mafia and terror”. Guru Tegh Bahadur's valour against Aurangzeb teaches how country fights against terror, religious extremism: PM Haresh Jhala Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while virtually addressing a gathering at the Lakhpat gurud- wara in Kutch district of Gujarat on Saturday, said the dangers that the Sikh gurus warned about still exist. He add- ed that the brave acts of Guru Tegh Bahadur against Aurangzeb have taught the country how to fight against terror- ism and religious ex- tremism. “The dangers that our gurus used to warn against exists in the same form even today. So, we have to remain alert and protect the country. I have full faith that with the blessings of Guru Nanak Devji, we will be able to fulfill our aspi- rations and the country will reach a new height,” PM Modi said while speaking on the occasion of Gurpurab celebrations. Modi’s appeal to the Sikh community came two days after the blast that took place in Pun- jab’s Ludhiana district court complex. alking about Guru Nanak Devji and his teachings, Modi said during the period when the Sikh guru was born, foreign invaders were destroying the confi- dence of India. “The India, which used to guide the world, was in danger. If Guru Nanak Devji had not spread his light, then what would have happened? Guru Nanakji and the gurus after him not only kept the consciousness of India glowing, but also carved out a way to keep India safe.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually addresses Gurpurab celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Gurudwara Lakhpat Sahib on Saturday. —PHOTO BY PTI 22 Farmers’ front breakaway from main union to fight Punjab polls l PM MODI’S APPEAL TO THE SIKH COMMUNITY CAME TWO DAYS AFTER THE BLAST THAT TOOK PLACE IN LUDHIANA DISTRICT COURT COMPLEX Chandigarh: Ahead of the Assembly elec- tion in Punjab sched- uled early next year, around 22 farmers’ un- ions, that were part of the umbrella body Samyukt Kisan Mor- cha (SKM), have come together to float a po- litical party Samyukt Samaj Morcha on Sat- urday, to take party in Punjab assembly elec- tions. The political front of farmers in Punjab will be led by farmer’s lead- er Balbir Singh Rajewal and will contest the up- coming polls on all 117 seats in the state. Addressing media, Rajewal said, “A new ‘Samyukta Samaj Mor- cha’ is formed for con- testing Punjab Assem- bly elections. 22 unions have taken this deci- sion. We need to change the system and want to appeal to people to sup- port this morcha.” SACKED COP WENT TO ASSEMBLE BOMB Punjab DGP Siddharth Chattopadhyaya on Satur- day said the initial inves- tigation into the Ludhiana district court blast case has revealed that the former state police head constable, Gagandeep Singh, who was killed in the explosion had gone to the washroom to assemble the bomb and plant it somewhere. OUR TERM IS FOR 5 YRS BUT YOURS FOR 25-30 YRS New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday sug- gested all the civil serv- ants should understand the importance of their role, saying “our (poli- ticians) term is for five years, but yours terms is for 25-30 years” so they have a bigger re- sponsibility. Understanding its spirit, you have to do the work of bringing it to the bottom. A spe- cial kind of trust has been placed on you peo- ple in our constitu- tion,” Shah said. “All of us (politi- cians) who come here come for five years. Af- ter five years, the peo- ple of the country de- cide whether to give us the reins of the coun- try or not. In this sense, our term is five years but you come for 25-30 years because the con- stitution has faith in you. That’s why I want to tell you that you have more responsibility than us.” He further said that the administration should run as per rule because it is very im- portant but it is also im- portant to consider the role of the particular department. The hope of devel- opment in India is based on it’s the young blood. The country’s economy is getting stronger with the strength of its youths. In the corporate sector, thirty to forty percent of the youth contribute in maxi- mum of the company’s growth, as they come up with different creative ideas in the development of new prod- ucts and in the company’s progress. Most of the compa- nies recruit 5 to 10 percent of freshers every year, the pur- pose behind this is to have new ideas and changes in the company’s culture. Still there is no regular re- cruitments of fresh pass outs employees in unorganized sector. As in this sector, old, experienced and trusted em- ployees are kept at the top only. Older employees know everything about company, but have little use of new ideas or new technologies. But in the organized sector, the importance of fresh em- ployees has been found. A new programs are or- ganized in the company for fresh pass outs employees, while on the other hand, the disappointment is that entry- level employees in India are paid the least amount of com- pensation and salaries. This is a matter of concern. Indi- an corporate entrepreneur pay very less to freshers in comparison to other coun- tries in Asia. The world-renowned com- pany Tower Watson, recent- ly conducted a survey in Asia’s Developing Countries about salaries offered to fresh pass outs. According to the survey done with eleven countries, India’s place in paying to entry-level em- ployees is ninth. According to this survey, the average pay scale of en- try level employee in India is estimated to be around US $ 400 which is approximately 25,000 rupees. This amount is roughly one-fifths com- pared to countries like South Korea and Singapore. There is a good news for those working in middle level with 4-5 years of experience that their return status is very good as compared to en- try level employees. Accord- ing to the survey for middle management level people, the annual package is of 15- 20 lakhs, which is almost half theamountof China.Against this, India has less cost of liv- ing as compared to China. In other countries like Singa- pore, employees in the mid- dle management level are given more salary packages than China. The officials of Tower Wat- son consider India as strong contender in the world for growth and development, though the less returns of the entry level employees can be frustrating for them. While India’s entry-level em- ployees rank number one in the face of intellect and skill, Indian youth has a lot of ex- pertise in IT and manufac- turing. One thing has been emphasized on, in the Survey is that if you want young peo- ple of India to stop going in other countries, then they should be given a respectable salary package. If they get the payment as per the re- quirement and their skill set in other countries, then they should be paid for the same at home. The tips for how much compensation should be given to the employees of the Fresh Pass Out. 1.Fresh Pass Out youth should be offered honora- ble package so that they maintain their enthusi- asm at work. 2.Entry-level employees should be given to work on short projects giving easy success, so that their en- thusiasm can be well maintained. 3.Entry-level employees should be paid incentives inclusive with fixed salary in every six months. 4.There is a little lack of pa- tience in the youth class, so plan should be made so that they stay for long in a company . T wo Indian c a r r i e r s will ‘begin’ operations in 2022: Aka- sa Air and Jet Airways. Indeed, while Jet Air- ways is a revival of sorts, it has mostly had to start back at the be- ginning since its col- lapse in April 2019. With the two airlines getting themselves set up to fly passengers next year, their hiring departments are in full swing, looking to se- cure their own pools of pilots and other staff. Accord- ing to sourc- es and observers, the carriers are seeking crews from other air- lines such as IndiGo and SpiceJet. Indeed, some person- nel from these estab- lished carriers have already received offer letters. Headhunters are seeking senior em- ployees from existing airlines, while a Spice- Jet pilot has reported that some of their col- leagues have already left, with others in the middle of serving their notice period before moving over. A senior executive wishing to com- ment anonymously said that it was not sur- prising for pilots to leave SpiceJet to join Akasa, “especially those who have not been paid their full dues. After all, both air- lines have the Boeing 737 MAX.” Poaching from SpiceJet would be easier With most of this activ- ity happening behind the scenes, there are no clear numbers or met- rics to measure the shift of pilots from one airline to another. How- ever, it would be safe to say that pilots from SpiceJet would be the preferred target for Akasa Air. That’s because the startup airline will op- erate the Boeing 737 – an aircraft type that is at the heart of Spice- Jet’s short and medi- um-haul operations. Considering the fact that pilots coming from this budget airline would be trained on the 737, much of Akasa’s work would be already completed. This would reduce the need for hir- ing and then retraining Airbus-focused pilots for its Boeing fleet. The Airbus A320 and A321neo are the main types of aircraft oper- ated by IndiGo. The picture for Jet Airways is a little more vague. The airline has yet to disclose details for its future fleet: Its leadership has stated that the plan is to have 50+ aircraft in three years and 100+ in five years. Jet Airways is reportedly poised to place a large aircraft order in the near fu- ture, although it has yet to determine (or at least disclose) what types of aircraft it will operate. The airline’s first run, prior to its 2019 collapse, saw it op- erate an overwhelm- ingly Boeing fleet- espe- cially for its narrow- body jets. For their parts, SpiceJet and IndiGo have denied a move of pilots away from their fleets towards the new carriers. A SpiceJet spokesperson said that “the information [of commanders and first officers leaving] is ab- solutely wrong and de- nied,” while IndiGo says “very little to neg- ligibleattrition”among its pilots has taken place over the last two years. IndiGo says it’s in a similar situation with its engineers, ground staff, and cabin crew. However, it admits that “that there will always be opportunities for tal- ent given the way this industry is evolving.” As the industry re- covers and new carri- ers fight for their share of the market, it looks like a job in India’s avi- ation industry might be an excellent way to go- whether it’s as a pi- lot or other crew. —Courtesy Simple Flying It’s in a sim- ilar situa- tion with its engineers, ground staff, and cabin crew. Starting with a modest USD 1.83 bil- lion in 2001, the bilat- eral trade crossed USD 100 billion-mark in the first 11 months this year, a significant milestone for which the two countries car- ried out campaigns to boost trade and build it as a major stake- holder to improve the relations between two nations, whose ties otherwise remained frosty over the fester- ing boundary dispute and strategic rivalry . According to last month's data from China's General Ad- ministration of Cus- toms (GAC), the India- China bilateral trade totalled USD 114.263 billion, up 46.4 per cent year-on-year from January to November 2021. India's exports to China reached USD 26.358 billion, up 38.5 per cent year-on-year and India's imports from China amounted to USD 87.905 billion, up 49.00 per cent. India's concerns over the trade deficit notwithstanding, the landmark record vir- tually went without any fanfare as the bi- lateral relations re- mained frosty over the lingering military standoff in eastern Ladakh. The citi- zens are fed up, frustrat- edandharassedbyinfla- tion. And the BJP is confident of their sup- port despite the growing price rise.” Patel appealed to vot- ers to elect Congress in the upcoming 2022 state assembly elections. “Give us (Congress) a chance to run the gov- ernment. We will estab- lish Ram Rajya through our policies and schemes. If the youth wants to fight against the government, I am ready to stand with them. If they think that I am in the Congress party and have a politi- cal agenda, then I am ready to quit. But are they ready to fight?” questioned the leader. He also announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for Amra Ram, 30, a resident of Pareyu village of Barmer, who was kidnapped and beaten up and his legs pierced with nails by a group of attackers on Tuesday. After CM’s strict stand, the gov- ernment on Saturday ordered a probe by the CID-CB after which the police set up a Special investigation team (SIT) headed by SIT headed by SP CID-CB Gaurav Yadav and sent to Barmer for an inves- tigation, said ADG Crime, Ravi Prakash. The cheque of Rs 2 lakh and a sympathy letter by the CM was handed over to Amra Ram by Barmer ADM Omprakash Vishnoi at MDM Hospital.Gehlot said that around seven years ago on February 21, 2014 ‘The Whistle Blowers Protection Act 2011’ was passed by the Rajya Sabha and later on May 9, 2014, the Pres- ident gave the consent on it. But even after seven years, the Centre has not framed the rules, the CM alleged. After Gehlot directed the Jodhpur collector to take note of Amra Ram, who is admitted in MDM hospital in Jodhpur, Collector In- derjeet Singh along with medical officers met the RTI activist and ensured all possi- ble help to him and his family . CM claimed that family members of the victim are satisfied with the treatment. ACTIVISTS DEMAND ACTION Ashok Gehlot HOW HARISH RAWAT IMPRESSED HIS OPPONENTS IN THE PARTY! Harish Rawat had complained to High Command that ‘he is be- ing asked to swim in the sea with his hands and feet tied with various crocodiles whose orders he is supposed to follow.’ In fact, he was target ting his friends includ- ing Yashpal Arya, Dev- endra Yadav etc. Deven- dra Yadav, Congress in- charge of Uttarakhand, was taking decisions without taking him into confidence. When the water started passing above his head, Rawat got angry and sat at home. Priyanka Gandhi spoke to Rawat, sum- moned him to Delhi. Be- fore meeting Rahul, Rawat and Priyanka held a closed-door meet- ing for two hours and a middle way was sorted out. Party’s working president Sonia Gandhi was already favouring Rawat. It was also de- cided that reins of Utta- rakhand polls would be handed over to Rawat and his leadership would be acceptable to everyone in the party . If Congress got majority in the state, CM would be decided by elected MLAs. A senior leader will keep an eye on this and he will also look af- ter coordination. The names of two senior party leaders Ambika Soni and Anand Shar- ma are being discussed for the same. After meet- ingPriyankaandRahul, Rawat met Ambika. So- nia believed that most of the big faces of North India have become part of the disgruntled G-23 faction of the party , so it is necessary to keep Rawat’s allegiance to Gandhi family . WHY DOES KEJRIWAL GET ANGRY? Arvind Ke- jriwal has the ability to give new faces to the silence of politi- calgrounds.OnWednes- day . Kejriwal was taking an important meeting in the CM Office regard- ing Covid-19’s third wave and Omicron scare, wherein Delhi’s Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot, Health Secretary, Transport Commissioner and DTC’s MD were present. Kejriwal, while remind- ing about lessons learnt during the second wave of Corona, said that they had to face short- age of oxygen tankers the government then had decided that it would buy five oxygen tankers with its own money . Kejriwal wanted to know from Transport Commissioner that why these tankers haven’t been pur- chased till date. The Commis- sioner replied saying that t e n d e r s were in- vited for this, but till now no party has been awarded ten- der the minister who is heading tender com- mittee could tell more about it. Hearing this, the CM lost his cool. He warned the minister saying, ‘The tender award should be held today itself, I will give you time till six in the evening.’ But even if tender is floated, it will take two-three months to get the tanker. Can the third wave of Coro- na wait for this? WHO WANTS TO WEAKEN YOGI? UP CM Yogi Adity- anath is also known for his ‘Thakur love’ apart from tough and quick decisions as an administrator. It is also a well known fact that there is an open war be- tween him and party’s General Secretary Sunil Bansal. So, as soon as thepartyunderBansal’s leadership took an im- portant decision that only 30-32 Thakur candi- dates would be fielded this time in view of pub- lic dissatisfaction against Thakur MLAs, Yogi lost his temper convened a secret meet- ing of trusted Thakur MLAs and talked about weaving a new strategy . Yogi loyalists believe that a section of the party wants to weaken Yogi’s claim for the CM’s post in 2022 by cut- ting the tickets of Thakurs, but Yogi will notallowthistohappen. RAHUL IN NEW AVATAR! Rahul Gan- dhi is seen in a new ava- tar these days as in- stead of hisoffice, he him- self is contacting the leaders. Now party lead- ers and workers have stopped getting direc- tionsfrom‘OfficeRahul’. Be it Alankar Sawai or Kaushal Vidyarthi, they have been put in cold storage for the time be- ing. Right from scolding Sidhu, to resolving the discord in Uttarakhand, Rahul himself took the initiative. Yes, Mukul Wasnik is seen walking around Rahul nowadays Rahul is also listening to his advice. WHICH PARTY IS THIS? The graph of UP’s one of the significant parties, which has sur- rendered to BJP , is con- tinuously declining in poll sensex. There has been a lot of buzz in UP that this party will play asBJP’s‘TeamB’in2022 polls. Due to which par- ty’s political dominance have declined steadily . Accordingtosourc- es,partyhadini- tially auc- tioned six tickets at the rate of Rs 4 crore per assembly , which came down to Rs 1.50to3crorein100 seats, the chances of party’s victory are quite grim. Now Rs 65 lakh is being demanded for single ticket. At present, 150 seats are left, but party ticket bidders have van- ished, those who take tickets by paying mon- ey, are now considering expenditure of Rs 35-40 lakh as ‘wasteful.’ CENTRE’S NOOSE AROUND AKHILESH’S CLOSE FRIENDS With UP polls near- ing, Income Tax raids are being conduct- ed at places close aides of SPsupremoAkhilesh Yadav. Recently , Akhile- sh’sformerOSD,Jainen- dra Yadav alias Neetu, Manoj Yadav, party spokesperson Rajiv Rai and business man Rahul Bhasin faced the raids. But the most important thing is that the media was aware of this raid beforehand. During the raid at perfume trader Piyush Jain, cash above Rs 150 crore was seized. Now BJP claims that this money was a part of SP’s election fund. WILL THE LOTUS BLOOM LIKE THIS? Even after Agricul- ture Bills were withdrawn, the saffron graph is not able to climb up in western UP. Witnessing huge crowd in RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary’s poll ral- lies, BJP now wants to associate with him so that Akhilesh can be given a shock after polls. The party has engaged its young face Union Minister Anurag Thakur to help Jayant. Anurag and Jayant share an old friendship. At the same time, BJP has also made efforts to make a dent in Yadav family, assimilating the proven policy of the British state of ‘divide and rule. ’Under this policy ,theuncle-nephew i.e. Shivpal and Akhile- sh have been targeted. ...AND FINALLY In wake of Covid’s thirdwave,Allahabad HC has suggested to postpone UP polls for timebeing.whichwould thenbeheldonlyinJuly . Presently, BJP has to struggle a lot in UP, re- sults of their internal opinionpollsarealsogo- ing to blow Lotus’s spir- its. • 11. 10 ETC NEW DELHI | SUNDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2021 www.firstindia.co.in I www.firstindia.co.in/epaper/ I twitter.com/thefirstindia I facebook.com/thefirstindia I instagram.com/thefirstindia t’s the season of Christmas, we can hear the bellsringingand the Church that was lit up with scintillating lights, the great star that led the Magi, the threeKingstoChrist are still shining, but do we relate to the real es- sence of Christmas? Has Santa stolen the light that shone upon Jesus Christ as a baby . In a conversation with Fr Garrett Gund- lach SJ, we found out about the message that Christmas brings us along with the joy , peace and salvation that makes this season mer- rier. We know that Christ was born in a man- ger to Virgin Mary on a cold night, the only Son of God who was sent to earth in the form of flesh to redeem the sins of mankind. What makes Christ- mas so spe- cial? Christmas is a holiday of closeness - not just of familiesandfriends coming closer togeth- er, but most especially a holiday of God’s closenesstous.Thisis amazing because we believe that God is the massively powerful creator of the uni- verse - but here at Christmas, God de- cides to become hu- man. Why? To come closer to us. To love us from up-close and per- sonal, face-to-face. And this closeness was magnetic - it brought kings from far away to feel it, it brought s h e p h e r d s from the fields - and it would bring all sorts of people to Jesus throughout his life! When we look at the baby Christ lying in the Manger among the shepherds, kings along with Mary and Joseph. Why is there a focus on this scene of Nativity, why not just baby Je- sus? For the same reason whyforChristiansthe chief symbol is the cross; these things re- mind us of the deep humility of God’s love. God came close to us not as a magical king in a beautiful palace and armies, but as a poor baby who would share many of the same physicallimitationsas us - he would even let himself be martyred, killed for his mission, killed for his trans- formative witness to God’s love. What does Santa re- mind you of and how must we keep the Spirit of Christmas alive? Just as God gave Jesus Christ as a gift this Christmas, we are in- vited to give ourselves to one another, com- mitting ourselves to work for a more just, loving, and peaceful world. For this diffi- cult work, we are strengthened by the grace of this holiday . And this is exactly whatSanta-originally SaintNicholas-helped us to remember; he was a model of gener- ous giving. Unfortu- nately , now when we think of Santa we just think of getting, not giving, so let’s go back to his roots: who is in need around us? How can we freely give in love to meet their needs like God so free- ly gave Jesus and Jesus’ love? SUSHMITA AIND sushmita.aind@firstindia.co.in I Fr Garrett Gundlach SJ
