Major social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have been increasingly incorporating live streaming features to engage users and generate revenue. Live streaming allows users to broadcast and watch video content in real-time, and has become popular in China, where nearly half of internet users have used a live streaming app. While live streaming gives social media companies more user time and data, it also allows individuals to monetize their influence through brand sponsorships and e-commerce sales during live broadcasts. However, concerns have been raised about overreliance on external validation through social media and how live streaming may exacerbate issues like distraction and lack of self-awareness in both personal and professional contexts.

Whirlpool EMEA presents: Digital School, Lesson 5: What is a UGC?
In this lesson, we explain how the methods of use and the production of content has completely changed over the last few years.
People as passive spectators have become producers of content: everyone has access to a camera and software for the in-house development of multimedia content. The explosion of platforms such as YouTube, Flickr and Instagram, etc. ... has enabled everyone to become a content maker.
The contents of the web are often remixed or characterized by fads that follow an unstoppable collective stream. This stream produces new content out of old, which inevitably impacts on the life of the brands.
New media continues to shake up the way organizations work since it opens up processes and encourages user/member participation -- the key being to empower individuals to make the change they want to see in the world. This session will look at emerging trends in social tech and the principles that form the basis of effective online campaigns/communications. Participants will get a hype-free look at some examples of successful online initiatives, discuss what went into these successes, and share their own experiences and ideas.
The proliferation of inexpensive screens combined with hyper-connectivity have brought about a society that is focused on multitasking. Unfortunately, while we as humans can be aware of several things at once our brains can only truly focus on one thing at a time.
How is advertising impacted by a society that is always on and always connected?
We have been communicating with objects ever since we could speak. It's only been in the last decade or so that common mundane objects have been able to talk back to us. In this presentation, you will discover how the use of networked bespoke sensor-embedded objects will forever change your perception of the world.

The Cambrian Explosion was an inflection point in biological experimentation, innovation and diversification. The Cambrian Cloud is a metaphor that seeks to capture a similar transformative period of rapid experimentation and innovation.
The Cambrian Cloud is a low friction, emergent social space in which innovation, collaboration, science, entrepreneurship, complexity, non-linear systems, resources and the diffusion of opportunities all intersect.
I spoke about “Transparent Tech Trends of 2012” for the Indiana Library Federation’s Reference Division Conference (with its conference theme of Tech Trends in Libraries: Seeing the Forest for the Trees.) on August 7, 2012 at the Noblesville Branch of the Hamilton East Public Library in Indianapolis, Indiana.
In the first week of class, we, the students, were assigned to teams of 4-5 classmates in each group. Our team was instructed to find a recent (year 2015) newspaper story and analyze it using the tools and concepts from this course.
My team and I had chosen to research, analyze and deduce projections upon a then-recent partnership referred to as: internet.org. This partnership - comprised of Facebook (founder), Samsung, Ericcson, Nokia, Opera, Qualcomm and MediaTek - had been pursuing a project in which the poorest individuals of the world would have access to what the consortium of corporate giants referred to as a human right: access to reliable internet.

Digital Natives - Session 4 - Listening to consumersBart Muskala
Online, virtually everything is being measured. Which results in tons of data. Are we doing anything with it? Does it give us any insights that actually make sense? Or should we simply involve our consumers and ask them what we'd like to know? And what if we not only get to know everything about our consumer, but also where he or she physically is at any given time? And what on earth does 'crowdsourcing' mean?
