This document discusses instrumentation used to monitor the pre-piling of foundations for offshore wind turbines. Precisely measuring the depth and elevation of driven piles is crucial to ensure wind turbine structures can be efficiently installed. Sensors were developed to monitor pile driving in real-time and measure final pile top elevations to within 10 mm from a remote location, reducing costs and simplifying installation. This pre-piling method and monitoring system has significantly lowered construction costs for offshore wind farms.
