Original Medicare Parts A and B cover most, but not all, health supplies and services. For this reason, you may need to consider a Medicare supplement plan. Unlike Medicare, Medicare’s supplemental plans are provided by private insurance companies. Medigap covers the payment of a portion of the medical and hospital costs not covered by Original Medicare, such as co-insurance, co-payment and annual deductibles.

The document summarizes a sermon about 3 gifts that God wants for Christmas: justice, kindness, and humility. It discusses each gift in turn. For justice, it argues we should promise to act fairly towards others. For kindness, it says we should reflect Christ's kindness by being patient and not unkind. For humility, it says we should reject pride and arrogance, and instead walk humbly with God as Jesus did. The sermon encourages giving these gifts to Jesus for Christmas rather than expensive presents, as they do not require money or talent but just a change of heart.
3D YOUTH MINISTRIES I REFUGE GROUPS INITIATIVEEmily Brandt

Session 4 - Equipping the Church in the Workplace - Action PlansOs Hillman
This document outlines 25 action steps a church can take to equip believers for ministry in the workplace without starting a formal workplace ministry program. The steps include establishing a prayer team, preaching sermons on workplace topics, conducting a survey to understand how the church can support workplace believers, and inviting guest speakers. It also suggests reading workplace-focused books, allowing testimonies from believers, and integrating workplace teachings into existing ministries. The overall goal is to mobilize the entire congregation for workplace outreach and affirm each believer's calling in their vocation.
Session 2 Equipping Church in Workplace Os Hillman
This document discusses equipping the church to engage in the workplace. It addresses fears and misconceptions between church and workplace leaders. The key points are:
1) Most church members do not feel their work is a spiritual calling or that they are equipped to live out their faith at work.
2) The local church should train believers to destroy the works of Satan, yet many function like a cruise liner rather than an aircraft carrier for spiritual warfare.
3) All believers, including those in the workplace, have important spiritual gifts and callings that can establish God's kingdom in the city if the church equips and commissions them.
Diocese of London Lent Appeal 2015. Who inspired you when you were younger?diolondon
Our Lent Appeal this year asks the question: 'Who inspired you when you were younger to become the person you are today?'
You might make an opportunity to share your answers in your prayer or study groups or other church groups, giving thanks to God.
Practically, the goal of our Lent Appeal is to fund additional youth, children and family workers to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to serve their communities.
We are raising funds for the Bishop of London’s Mission Fund, which is looking to support children, youth and family projects across the Diocese and who will be investing at least £1 million over the next three years in order to realise this goal.
The document discusses the prosperity gospel and how it has misled people into thinking that God is a genie who promises instant riches. While the prosperity gospel contains some biblical truths, it is taken out of context. The victims of these "men of God" pushing the prosperity gospel are often the poor, destitute, desperate, lonely, afflicted, and troubled who are susceptible to the idea that consistent offerings or tithing will oblige God to shower blessings on them. However, a sober reflection shows that God's nature as described in the Bible cannot be coerced by mere offerings. The document questions what social conditions allow people in places like Namibia to part with money for "miracle products" when prayer is
1) A Sunday school teacher asked her class who the most important woman in the Bible is. A boy said Eve because Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are named after her.
2) The document discusses how the first word babies usually learn is "no" and how parents tried to avoid using that word but ultimately had to for safety reasons.
3) It argues that while it's important to teach people what to say "no" to, the church focuses too much on that and not enough on what to say "yes" to, like helping others. It claims Jesus focused more on helping people than condemning sins.

The Cost of Reaching the World for ChristTerry Dorsett
This passage describes an event where a woman pours expensive perfume on Jesus, which some disciples criticize as a waste. Jesus defends the woman, saying she is preparing him for burial. He promises that her act will be remembered wherever the gospel is preached. Reaching the world for Christ requires spending time with outsiders, sacrificing money and leisure for missions, and creating a lasting legacy, despite potential complaints.

The Israelites celebrated when bringing the ark of God to battle, assuming it guaranteed victory like in the past. However, God was no longer with them and they suffered a devastating defeat. Clinging to past experiences with God is dangerous, as His presence must be maintained daily through intimacy. Over time, even those who witnessed miracles lost God's glory due to self-centeredness. To avoid this, we must humble ourselves daily before God and continually seek intimacy with Him above all else.

Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against mental illness and improve symptoms for those who already suffer from conditions like anxiety and depression.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German Lutheran pastor and theologian who stood against the Nazi regime. He saw meditation on Scripture as essential for Christians. According to Bonhoeffer, meditation allows God's word to dwell within us and speak to us throughout the day. He advocated starting each morning with quiet prayer and Scripture meditation to prepare for the day and allow God to open our hearts before being distracted by the world. Meditation helps Christians know and obey God more fully.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

2018 Theme: CALLED
“And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14b)
A people far from home. An orphan girl pulled from obscurity and thrust into prominence and power. An
assassination attempt against the king. Palace intrigue. Plots within plots. The orphan girl facing off against
insurmountable odds to save her people.
Recognize this story? It’s not the latest Hollywood blockbuster or best-selling novel. Instead, it’s a retelling of
events from the book of Esther. Esther takes place in the land of Persia, where the Jewish people have been
living in exile. Esther is a young Jewish girl, raised by her cousin, Mordecai, after the death of her parents.
Through a series of improbable events, she eventually becomes the queen of Persia.
The major crisis of the book of Esther
occurs when Haman, a high-ranking
official in the favor of the Persian king,
manages to get an edict passed
approving the annihilation of the Jewish
people. Mordecai begs Esther for help in
interceding before the king on their
behalf. There’s only one problem:
according to Persian law, anyone who
approaches the king without his explicit
invitation risks death—and Esther hasn’t
been invited before the king in over a
month.
Esther has a choice to make. And it’s the choice to stand by silently or to take a stand. But this is what
Mordecai says to her as she waivers over what decision to make: “If you keep silent at this time, relief and
deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. And who
knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
Mordecai absolutely trusts in the faithfulness of God, and he’s reminding Esther that their deliverance doesn’t
depend on her. But her obedience to God’s call does. What might seem like the safe option isn’t as safe as just
trusting in the providence of God.
And so Esther makes her decision: “Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I
perish.” Esther goes before the king. She pleads her case. She opens his eyes to Haman’s plotting, and the
tables are turned—Haman is the one sentenced to destruction. Esther saves her people.
The book of Esther never mentions God by name, and yet, the silence of God doesn’t mean the absence of
God. Esther is overwhelmingly a story of God’s provision and faithfulness towards His people. God used Esther
in ways she probably never imagined were possible. God works through people, and He wants to work through
you!
Our theme this year at Camp Luther is CALLED. We’re going to be talking about what it means that we are
called by God. Now, some of you may be thinking, “Not me! God hasn’t called me anywhere. How could He
possibly use me?” But time and time again through the Bible, we find that God uses the unlikely, the useless,
and the weak to display His glory. From Moses to Rahab to David to Esther to Peter to Paul…God doesn’t call
the equipped; He equips those He calls.
So where is God calling you? Where is Jesus asking you to follow Him? Join us this year as we dive deep into
the book of Esther and learn more about God’s faithfulness, and the way He works in us and through us to
share His glory and grace.

Lessons from a Dog Sled
Trainer
I have been enjoying one of those Alaska
reality shows. In a recent episode about a
couple and their dog sled team, some
important leadership lessons were shared. As
they were “training up” a six-month-old puppy
named “Jack” they shared these words of
wisdom.
1. Always plan for the future. “If you don’t train up ahead of time
you’ll find yourself with no leaders.”
2. Ease the young into leader roles. “Get them comfortable with
the team and build confidence at a young age.”
3. Don’t have just one leader. “The more dogs you can put into a
leadership position the better.”
4. Have different types of leaders. “You have to have several dogs
who can do several things.”
These are awesome lessons for us today!
The church is currently facing a lack of Pastors, teachers, DCEs,
and lay leaders. It is crucial that we plan for the future by
identifying young people with the gifts to lead and serve, giving
them opportunities to serve and test out their leadership skills,
and raising up leaders for a variety of roles in the church and as
leaders in our society.
Camp is a “boot camp” for leadership.
Youth Campers develop leadership skills working with others on
the Challenge Course, daily cleaning assignments, and service
projects.
Students in IMPACT, Ignite, and Servant Events participate in
community service projects that help identify their gifts and
inspire them toward new opportunities.
Junior Counselors put skills to the test with real campers, while
being coached and mentored by older staff.
Counselors lead campers individually and as part of a team in an
environment where (safe) risk is encouraged, mistakes are
Forgiven, and resilience is tested.
Program Coordinators develop skills that will make them better
prepared to lead in the church, the work place, and community.
“For such a time as this.”
Getting a child to camp may be the first step in them recognizing
the gifts God has bestowed upon them. Thank you for supporting
Camp Luther and Every Kid to Camp, which brings up to 300
children to camp each summer to this training center for
leadership.
In Christ,
Gary “Woody” Vought
Executive Director
Prayer Requests
In thankfulness for all Camp Luther Volunteers.
In thankfulness for all who support Camp Luther through their prayers
and financial support.
For the 2018 Camp Luther Summer Staff and Junior Counselors.
For all campers and guests that will participate in Camp programs this
summer, that the Holy Spirit would already be working in their hearts.
For wisdom and guidance to members of the Camp Luther Board of
Directors.
For the Camp Luther Year-Round staff.
For the future of Camp Luther as the Filled with the Spirit Campaign is
shared with more people.
To always keep focused on the Lord's mission in this place of sharing the
Gospel of Jesus Christ.
That camp, the staff, and campaign leadership would be lifted up in
Jesus’ name and the enemy, the devil, would gain no foothold.

attend camp at no cost for their first time as well as financial aid to those in
need. The Camp Luther Endowment, currently unfunded, will provide
unrestricted support of the ministry and improvements at camp.

You Complete the Meal
Did you know that registration fees and other revenue account
for only 2/3 of Camp Luther’s needed income. The remaining
1/3 is generously donated by those who wish to support the
ministry that happens at Camp through giving to the Outdoor
Ministry Fund and Every Kid to Camp. Thank you for helping
Christ’s love to be shared with all!
With your help, Camp is able to:
enhance and expand programming and outreach.
maintain and care for facilities and property.
offer camp to every child regardless of their financial situation.
build a healthy and thriving organization to carry on the traditions and mission of this ministry.
A special Thank You to MCL
Industries, Inc., Pulaski, WI,
for their generous support
of Keweenaw Base Camp
and Every Kid to Camp.

Calling All Runners!
Love to run? Love camp? How about bringing both
worlds together at Camp Luther?!
Camp Luther has been a sponsor of the Three Eagle
5K and Half Marathon since the race’s inception in
2014. This one-of-a-kind race is held each October
on the Three Eagle trail, which passes by Camp
Luther just a half mile down the road. As the race
grows in popularity every year, Camp Luther is
looking to create a retreat for friends of camp who love to run and would
be interested in participating in this outstanding event.
This year’s race takes place
on October 13. Cottages are
currently available and if filled
the Retreat Center can be used.
Please contact Beemer at
beemer@campluther.com or
715-546-3647 if you are
interested in booking a spot and
being involved in the race.
Please check out http://www.3eaglehalf.com for more information
regarding the race.
