The graphical interpretation of the al sadu,
is not literal; rather abstract. The use of
randomly orientated crisscrossing diagonals
, suggest dynamic movement as opposed to
the static state of al sadu textile.
Repetition with variation is a very strong
composition method to create a visually
interesting non-monotonic graphical
pictogram.
Softening the graphic layout undulating
lines are weaved in, reminiscent of the sand
dunes of the Qatari desert.
The result of overlapping the crisscrossing
diagonals on top of the curvilinear alternates
between the static and dynamic patterning.

Diagonals are given visual weight ‘thickness’ and more elements can
be introduced,
The final 2 D (two dimensional) graphic layout as a result of subtracting
and combining shapes
The graphic layout is physically realized after taking into consideration
all the technical limitations (i.e. context, constructability, maintenance,
etc)
The resulting eye level 3 D composition is equally visually interesting
SADU WEAVING

At the heart of the Al Jumayliah Village in northern Qatar, is a ‘Mushtarak’
(Come Together) Round-A-Bout, which will be drawing attention to the
essence of captured Al Sadu together with the sand dune ‘Arabesque’
motif. This design is integrates the use of gravel, planting geometry and a
variety of textured and colored Hardscape materials.
