ROUTINES
 Headings must be on every paper and are located in the upper right hand corner of the paper.
 If you are tardy enter quietly and go straight to your seat.
 If you are absent you need to make up the work from the Absent Archive. When you know you will be out let the
teacher know.
 Enter the room when invited in by an adult. Quietly walk in, listen for instructions, and take out materials.
 If an adult requests your attention stop what you are doing, put down whatever is in your hand, quietly put all eyes
on the speaker, and listen attentively.
 Personal Items are not allowed. Turn off phones and MP3 players. Phones are MP3 players used in class will be taken
to office for parents to pick up.
 When leaving the room you will make sure your desk area is clean and textbooks are put away. Help pick up trash on
the way out.
 If you need to stand up do so at the correct time.
 If you need to use the restroom use them before school, during breaks, or during lunch. There will be no restroom
breaks for any reason the first ten minutes or last ten minutes of class, and during lecture. If you have an emergency
ask the teacher.
 If we are visited remain working on whatever we are doing, remain quiet and treat visitors with respect.
 If you need help raise your hand to be recognized, ask a specific question to help solve your problem.
 If there is no teacher do not go into the classroom for any reason.
 If the phone rings please remain quiet during the conversation.
 Class discussion you will be allowed to talk quietly or whisper to your classmates. We will call this “Small Voice.”
 Food and Beverages are not allowed in the lab at any time. Water with a closeable cap is allowed unless it becomes a
distraction.
 Please use manners by always saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you.’ Be polite to other classmates, visitors, and teachers.
 Lining up when you are asked. You will quietly and quickly get in line behind the next person already in line. DO NOT
CUT into the line to stand next to friends.
 Timers will be used for many tasks. When the timer goes off put down anything in your hands, sit quietly, and wait
for further instructions.
ROOM ARRANGEMENT
 I will set up my room to allow for quick movement by the teacher around the room.
 I will use multiple layouts to facilitate different lessons and activities.
 The easy flow will allow the teacher to use proximity to control behaviors.
LESSONS
 I will create lessons with the goal of student mastery.
 I will use Visual Instruction Plans and educational maps to teach concepts.
 I will use guided practice to teach and independent practice to drill.
