This document announces a free five-hour workshop called "Financial Education Boot Camp 2015: Twenty Terrific Technology Teaching Tools" that will teach creative ways to teach personal finance using technology tools. The workshop will be held on July 22 at Raritan Valley Community College and July 29 at Camden County College. It will include a subject matter update on personal finance topics, presentations on technology tools for teaching personal finance, and a digital game to engage students ages 16-24 on spending habits. Pre-registration is required by July 17 and professional development certificates will be provided to participants who attend the entire workshop.

1. Financial Education Boot Camp 2015:
Twenty Terrific Technology Teaching Tools
Do you teach personal finance to youth and/or adults? This free five-hour workshop will begin with a brief subject
matter update by Dr. Barbara O’Neill of Rutgers Cooperative Extension about current personal finance topics. The
remainder of the workshop will focus on creative ways to teach personal finance via technology tools. Information
will be presented in brief “chunks” followed by small group activities and discussion. In addition, Tracy Rimple,
MBA, from Raritan Valley Community College will share a digital game to engage students age 16-24 on their
personal spending habits and how the choices they make every day impact short- and long-term financial goals.
Participants will also share their favorite technology tips, teaching techniques, and resources.
Time: 9:30 am to 3:30 pm (Registration starts at 9 am)

This is a NEW teacher training workshop that has NOT been presented previously anywhere else in New Jersey. It
is a much expanded version of a short presentation that was made at the December 2014 NJCFE Symposium. For

This session is supported by the August 2011 legislation, (N.J.S.A. 17:9-43.2.D) that authorizes New Jersey credit
unions to serve as public depositories for the purpose of promoting personal financial literacy education. Raritan
Valley Community College is sponsoring the meeting space. In-kind funding of staff resources is being provided
by Rutgers Cooperative Extension, the New Jersey Department of Education, the New Jersey Coalition for
Financial Education and the New Jersey Council for Economic Education.
Professional development certificates will be provided for participants who attend the entire workshop.
