PARTNERSHIPS SERVING FRESNO NEIGHBORHOODS
2014
a n n u a l
REPORT
OUR MISSION
To connect churches and other community partners
with elementary schools, and equip them to serve
through their active presence in every neighborhood.
OUR VISION
To see our city holistically engaged,
so schools are supported,
students excel, families are healthy and whole,
and our communities thrive.
Artie Padilla
ENP Executive Director
WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER
2014 was another exciting year with ENP as we continue to seek transformation within our
Fresno Neighborhoods. We surpassed 111,000 volunteer hours, which is a new high for us. We
are privileged to work alongside 64 churches, 24 community based organizations, 2 universities,
6 businesses and hundreds of neighborhood residents. We share a common mission with the
City of Fresno, Fresno Unified, and other organizations for healthy, thriving neighborhoods,
helping children excel, and seeing families engaged in our schools and communities. Our efforts
are aligned. It’s Collective Impact! We are better together!
Saturday Sports programs continue to grow with 30 programs going on all over town and nearly
3,500 kids attending last year, most in SE & SW Fresno. Saturday Sports is the perfect place to
gather, connect with children, and engage with parents. We are encouraging parents to envision
themselves as future leaders in their neighborhoods We are refocusing our role, and the role of
partnership church leaders to support them so they can be successful in being the agents of
change within their own neighborhoods.
We are also taking advantage of Saturday Sports as the perfect platform for mobilizing
volunteers not just from our churches but many from Fresno State and Fresno Pacific as well,
giving students the ability to not only serve, but also get a better understanding of needs in our
city and opportunities to serve throughout their lifetime.
All this because of the fact that folks like you share our vision to see The Church mobilized in our
city. Teaming with other entities, we have a direct spiritual and social impact on the children and
families in our city.
We appreciate your continued support which allows us to carry on the work our faith call us to do.

ENP’s structure, of breaking
down the city into elementary
school neighborhoods, has
allowed partnerships to focus on
a specific neighborhood.
It has also provided the
framework for other community
based organizations to
efficiently serve our city.

Luisa grew up in the neighborhood
attending Saturday Sports since it
began. Now a high school freshman
she volunteers and has taken on the
responsibility of attendance at
Saturday Sports every week. One
day she will likely be running the
whole program. We look forward to
that (and so does she!)
In 2013, Justin Kennett, while a junior at Fresno
State, applied for the SIS Program and became
the Saturday Sports Leader at Vinland
Elementary. He played a key role in helping other
Fresno State students serve. Even more
important was the impact he made in the lives of
the kids. He would tell you however that it was
THOSE KIDS that changed HIS life!
Justin graduated from Fresno State and will be serving our
country in the US Air Force. But wherever God takes him, there
is no doubt he will also be investing in the lives of kids.
A free two hour program for kids on Saturday Mornings held on school campuses throughout our city. It’s a
morning of sports, crafts & fun where volunteers engage with kids in a group mentoring setting. At the end of
the morning every child receives a sack lunch. (lunches are provided by Poverello House & delivered by ENP volunteers)

STEP 2 - CAMPUS PRESENCE
New Heights Church hosts a homework club
after school two days a week for McCardle
kids. Their presence on the school campus
and in the neighborhood is a beacon of light for
the children, families and staff at the school.
Volunteers in the classroom assist students in literacy
and math. In the coming year plans are in place to focus on
reading literacy for K-3rd grade students . . .

STEP 4 - PARENT ENGAGEMENT
Engaging, equipping, and supporting parents in our partnership neighborhoods, encouraging them
to utilize their unique cultural gifts and talents to bless and serve their school and community.
ENP Resident Leadership Development is Growing!
ENP is partnering with Fresno Unified to work with parents
who have a desire to become leaders within our partnership
neighborhoods. They are finding ways to serve on the
school campus as well as neighborhood outreach events.
PARENT VOLUNTEERS
Benita is a parent at Susan B Anthony,
and a member of ENP Parent
Leadership Development. She
attended Parent University and takes
English Classes on the school
campus.

She also volunteers at the school.
Benita’s daughter, Sarai loves it when
her mom helps in her classroom. It
makes her proud, and both of them
are happy. Sarai says her moms
English is getting better, too. The
smiles on their faces say it all.

Encouraging and equipping our
parents to serve gives them the
opportunity to be a part of the
process of building strong and
healthy schools & neighborhoods
Parent
Involvement
In 2014, twenty-five parents attended Abundant
Communities Leadership Development Conference
where they learned to look at the assets in their
community and learn ways they can work together to
strengthen their community as they serve and lead.
2012: 55 parents
2013: 110 parents
2014: 300 parents

In August of 2008 when ENP was formed,
a small group of people who strongly believed
in the value and importance of churches
playing an active role in our local schools and
neighborhoods made a commitment to
support ENP financially for the first 3 years.
This was truly a blessing as it gave us the
ability to focus on the task at hand of finding
churches to partner with our Fresno schools.
One of our goals for 2015 is to build our
partnership of individual donors and churches
who are willing to financially support the work
of ENP each year.

  • 1. PARTNERSHIPS SERVING FRESNO NEIGHBORHOODS 2014 a n n u a l REPORT
  • 2. OUR MISSION To connect churches and other community partners with elementary schools, and equip them to serve through their active presence in every neighborhood. OUR VISION To see our city holistically engaged, so schools are supported, students excel, families are healthy and whole, and our communities thrive. Artie Padilla ENP Executive Director WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER 2014 was another exciting year with ENP as we continue to seek transformation within our Fresno Neighborhoods. We surpassed 111,000 volunteer hours, which is a new high for us. We are privileged to work alongside 64 churches, 24 community based organizations, 2 universities, 6 businesses and hundreds of neighborhood residents. We share a common mission with the City of Fresno, Fresno Unified, and other organizations for healthy, thriving neighborhoods, helping children excel, and seeing families engaged in our schools and communities. Our efforts are aligned. It’s Collective Impact! We are better together! Saturday Sports programs continue to grow with 30 programs going on all over town and nearly 3,500 kids attending last year, most in SE & SW Fresno. Saturday Sports is the perfect place to gather, connect with children, and engage with parents. We are encouraging parents to envision themselves as future leaders in their neighborhoods We are refocusing our role, and the role of partnership church leaders to support them so they can be successful in being the agents of change within their own neighborhoods. We are also taking advantage of Saturday Sports as the perfect platform for mobilizing volunteers not just from our churches but many from Fresno State and Fresno Pacific as well, giving students the ability to not only serve, but also get a better understanding of needs in our city and opportunities to serve throughout their lifetime. All this because of the fact that folks like you share our vision to see The Church mobilized in our city. Teaming with other entities, we have a direct spiritual and social impact on the children and families in our city. We appreciate your continued support which allows us to carry on the work our faith call us to do. • 4. STEP 1 - SATURDAY SPORTS 30 SATURDAY SPORTS PROGRAMS 29,158 MEALS served 3500 kids attended Saturday Sports 10,266 VOLUNTEER HOURS Luisa grew up in the neighborhood attending Saturday Sports since it began. Now a high school freshman she volunteers and has taken on the responsibility of attendance at Saturday Sports every week. One day she will likely be running the whole program. We look forward to that (and so does she!) In 2013, Justin Kennett, while a junior at Fresno State, applied for the SIS Program and became the Saturday Sports Leader at Vinland Elementary. He played a key role in helping other Fresno State students serve. Even more important was the impact he made in the lives of the kids. He would tell you however that it was THOSE KIDS that changed HIS life! Justin graduated from Fresno State and will be serving our country in the US Air Force. But wherever God takes him, there is no doubt he will also be investing in the lives of kids. A free two hour program for kids on Saturday Mornings held on school campuses throughout our city. It’s a morning of sports, crafts & fun where volunteers engage with kids in a group mentoring setting. At the end of the morning every child receives a sack lunch. • 5. STEP 2 - CAMPUS PRESENCE New Heights Church hosts a homework club after school two days a week for McCardle kids. Their presence on the school campus and in the neighborhood is a beacon of light for the children, families and staff at the school. Volunteers in the classroom assist students in literacy and math. • 7. STEP 4 - PARENT ENGAGEMENT Engaging, equipping, and supporting parents in our partnership neighborhoods, encouraging them to utilize their unique cultural gifts and talents to bless and serve their school and community. ENP Resident Leadership Development is Growing! ENP is partnering with Fresno Unified to work with parents who have a desire to become leaders within our partnership neighborhoods. They are finding ways to serve on the school campus as well as neighborhood outreach events. PARENT VOLUNTEERS Benita is a parent at Susan B Anthony, and a member of ENP Parent Leadership Development. She attended Parent University and takes English Classes on the school campus. She also volunteers at the school. Benita’s daughter, Sarai loves it when her mom helps in her classroom. It makes her proud, and both of them are happy. Sarai says her moms English is getting better, too. The smiles on their faces say it all. Encouraging and equipping our parents to serve gives them the opportunity to be a part of the process of building strong and healthy schools & neighborhoods Parent Involvement In 2014, twenty-five parents attended Abundant Communities Leadership Development Conference where they learned to look at the assets in their community and learn ways they can work together to strengthen their community as they serve and lead. 2012: 55 parents 2013: 110 parents 2014: 300 parents

This was truly a blessing as it gave us the ability to focus on the task at hand of finding churches to partner with our Fresno schools. One of our goals for 2015 is to build our partnership of individual donors and churches who are willing to financially support the work of ENP each year. 2014 INCOME & EXPENSE TOTAL INCOME $253,790 TOTAL EXPENSE $273,446 NET INCOME (loss) ($19,656)
