SpringSpirit's mission is to provide sports, education, and mentoring programs based on Christian principles to underserved youth. Founded in 2010 by Kenny Baldwin, who benefited from similar opportunities as a child, SpringSpirit serves over 1,000 kids annually in the Houston area. Programs focus on healthy lifestyles through sports, academic enrichment, and spiritual development to help kids realize their potential. SpringSpirit relies on donations and support from the community to continue offering these life-changing opportunities.

Success By 6 Turn Six - United Way of Greater New Haven UWGNH
Success By 6® (SB6) is United Way’s initiative to ensure that more children come to school ready to learn and we're celebrating our 6th birthday. . The years between birth and six are a time of tremendous growth and development. The experiences children have in their earliest years determine the actual structure of their brain and lay the foundation for their ability to learn, as well as their emotional and behavioral well-being. The stakes are high – these early years matter, not only for young children and their families, but also for our entire community. Investments in early childhood have a high rate of return: for every $1 invested in high-quality early childhood programs, we save $16 in costs such as special education, incarceration, and welfare.
The Families and Child Well-Being Learning Network is a new eXtension Optimized Community of Practice (CoP) that is committed to collectively extending the public reach and engagement capacities of five individual CoPs: Alliance for Better Child Care; Family Caregiving; Families, Food and Fitness; Financial Security for All; and Just in Time Parenting.
The Families and Child Well-Being Learning Network serves as a more comprehensive online resource for family and consumer needs through the creation and dissemination of deliverables on parenting, childcare, family nutrition, finance, and caregiving. Its inaugural webcast will explore the Learning Network’s goals, mission and vision, and social media presence

Kenny Baldwin’s Story
BODY – MIND - SOUL
SpringSpirit was established in 2010 to offer underserved kids, at scale, the same life opportunities that
President and Founder, Kenny Baldwin, received in life.
Kenny grew up in a community that looks very similar to the one the SpringSpirit serves today, believing
that the best life could offer him--if he worked really hard--was perhaps to manage a fast food restaurant
when he grew up. But he was lucky enough to have baseball, the local church and loving mentors in his
life who encouraged him in his studies and beyond.
Through those relationships, he was challenged to pursue college and attended Rice University (an
opportunity he really had no appreciation for) on a baseball scholarship. After a stint in the minor
leagues, he was hired by Arthur Andersen, beginning what would become his successful consulting career.
Kenny retired earlier than most to spend more time with his family, but knew that he still had a lot to give.
Grateful for the grace and support he received in life, he and his wife decided to use his consulting skills
and relationships to build an organization that would give other underserved kids the same sorts of
preparation and life opportunities he received. Thus, SpringSpirit was born.
