This document discusses e-government performance indicators. It notes that many countries currently lack data on the effects and outcomes of their IT projects, and measures often focus on what's easy rather than relevant. The OECD is taking an incremental approach to developing better indicators of e-government performance. It has begun collecting initial data from countries on topics like ICT strategy, project management, and financial benefits. The OECD aims to eventually collect additional data on areas such as shared services, human resources management, and security. It also wants indicators that assess online services in terms of interoperability, user satisfaction, and the financial impacts of specific ICT projects.
