The document discusses a study conducted by four educators to increase student motivation in art and music classes. They implemented a four-part intervention involving discussions about popular music/art, having students express how music/art makes them feel, comparing experiences with and without sound/images, and introducing humanizing artists. Pre- and post-tests and observations were used to assess engagement and perception of relevance. Results varied between placements, with some seeing more participation and interest expressed after the intervention.
The document discusses the use of various media technologies during a construction process. Pencil and paper were initially used for storyboarding and creating ideas before using computers. Apple Macs were used for editing videos and allowed for organization, transitions, and uploading footage. YouTube and Flickr were used to store and share videos and images online for the blog.
There are two main types of feminists: radical feminists and Marxist feminists. Radical feminists believe that women's oppression stems from gender roles that view women as inferior to men. They aim to destroy this gender-based hierarchy. Marxist feminists argue that women's oppression originates from capitalism and class structures. The document analyzes several music videos through the lens of feminist film theory, discussing how they portray women through the "male gaze" and reinforce gender stereotypes. It also profiles the feminist theorist Laura Mulvey and her concept of the "male gaze."
This document provides feedback on an assessment, including the type of question, total marks, grade equivalent, and areas for improvement. Suggestions are given for how the student could strengthen their answer and potentially achieve a higher mark if they were to resubmit.
This document discusses targeting audiences for a thriller film. It analyzes the BBFC ratings and advertising used to establish the target audience. Research suggests appealing to ages 15-55. Younger generations, especially ages 15-30, particularly enjoy thriller films and their protagonists are often young. While the film aims to include many social classes, it will likely appeal most to classes B through E due to some gritty elements. The opening sequence features elements that could attract both working class men and younger audiences.

Andrew Goodwin identified 5 common features of music videos: 1) visual representations of the music, 2) narratives and performances, 3) the star image, 4) how visuals relate to the song, and 5) technical aspects. These features help make music videos successful by appealing to audiences. This theory can apply to analyzing other media concepts as well. The document also discusses how uses and gratifications theory explains why audiences seek out certain media to fulfill needs like entertainment, social interaction, or escapism. This theory can also be applied to understanding different media concepts.
The document discusses potential storylines for three dramas: 1) A teenage boy who is bullied on social media ends up on a bridge, considering suicide. 2) A drama portraying the contrast between a middle class person's commute and a homeless person begging. 3) A college-aged boy struggling with drug addiction is shown buying drugs and becoming paranoid on his way home. All three dramas would be set in Manchester city center and include appropriate props and clothing to depict the characters and situations.
New media technologies were vital throughout the production process.
Nikon camera and iMovie were used to capture footage and edit the trailer. Wordpress hosted the blog and Photoshop edited images. Research used YouTube, Wikipedia, Google and survey tools. Presentations used PowerPoint, Prezi and iMovie. Vimeo and Wordpress uploaded work for feedback. Overall, new media technologies greatly aided research, planning, production and evaluation.

En vooral: who cares?

20160311 Choosing successful social media policiesMediaraven vzw
This document discusses creating social media policies for schools. It notes that Mediaraven explores digital media possibilities with children and youthworkers. It raises questions about using social media for educational purposes during lessons, setting rules and agreements for social media use, and employing social media for public relations. The document emphasizes that social media enables two-way communication and schools should listen, evaluate and respond to both positive and negative feedback. It recommends designating a social media manager and starting from a general school policy when creating specific social media guidelines.
