Google Locations Become ‘Advance’
There is a new feature which brings a new dimension to the way you target campaigns within
Adwords.
One of the common complaints of paid search marketing is that it is not always clear how search
queries are triggered and ads served, but a new tool from Google hopes to offer clarity on this
question.
It allows for both geographical and interest targeting, allowing you to target people in new and
interesting ways. Previously you would be able to target anyone that was carrying out a search from
a particular area – so you could target someone in Singapore with your advertising. The tool now
allows you to target people who are searching or viewing pages about your targeted location, so
you can now target people in Thailand who are searching for information about Singapore,
broadening your options.
Conversely, you can also manipulate your location options to exclude people based on their
location based searches or page viewing preferences.
We have noticed that traffic for campaigns increases when using this tool and the countries from
which the traffic is originating is being impacted. CTR has also experienced a drop as a result.
This feature is only a few weeks old, but has certainly added a new way in which to reach your
audience.
