There’s been a parallel growth in social media for business, mirroring the rise of Facebook and the rest for consumers. The impact of information and other technology upon organisations and how they interface with their stakeholders and customers - and how they create meaning for their product and service brands, are vital today. We are facing an era of meta-technology, where our insights into, our understanding of and our use of technology, will impact the depth of meaning we create in our brands by the "amount" of information that is added through the application of technology and the value of meaningful content. Social media alone holds many challenges for organisations. This article explores some of these issues and raises key questions about the role of technology for brands, companies and stakeholders.

As the IoT emerges, Haier's focus on user sensors over product sensors and emphasis on ecosystems positions it well for future success in this new economy.
Businesses are increasingly investing in social innovation programs that utilize technologies like IoT and big data analytics to benefit society. A survey found that 80% of organizations believe social responsibility is good for business, and over half already have social innovation programs in place. These programs address societal issues in industries like healthcare, finance, telecommunications, and government. While organizations have made progress, IT challenges like limited resources and integration issues have slowed some efforts. Many IT leaders are looking to partners with expertise in analytics, integration, data management, and industry knowledge to help overcome these challenges and make more data-driven decisions for powering social programs.

Understanding User Needs and Satisfying ThemAggregage
https://www.productmanagementtoday.com/frs/26903918/understanding-user-needs-and-satisfying-them
We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs

involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
