Butterflies
The main areas where butterflies are found are rainforests and lowland forests in southern Mexico. Butterflies undergo a process of metamorphosis, where the female lays eggs on a specific host plant which then hatch into larvae. The larvae develop inside a protective pupa casing for 10 days to over a year. When fully developed, the butterfly secretes fluids to emerge from the pupa with wet and fragile wings, which it then inflates to develop fully. Any obstruction during this process can result in malformed wings that impact the butterfly's ability to fly.

This study investigated the association between night work and breast cancer risk using data from a large population-based case-control study in France. The study found that 13% of breast cancer cases and 11% of controls had a history of night shift work, corresponding to a 27% increased risk of breast cancer among night shift workers. The risk was highest for women who worked overnight shifts or had worked night shifts for over 4 years. Notably, women who worked night shifts for over 4 years before their first full-term pregnancy had nearly double the risk of breast cancer compared to those without such a history, suggesting that incompletely differentiated breast tissue may be particularly susceptible to circadian disruption from night work.

CAEE awards 2011
The Colorado Environmental Education Master Plan continues to guide environmental education in the state. Various organizations work collaboratively to increase access to EE through communication technologies, train educators, develop standards-aligned resources, and establish a diversity initiative. The annual awards program recognizes excellent programs like Growing Up WILD, Rock Bottom Ranch, and Ecosystem Adventure.
The Green Run
The Green Run was a 5k road race and walk organized by Clark University students to raise money for the Regional Environmental Council (REC) and promote environmental awareness. The goals were to raise funds for REC, encourage healthy lifestyles, promote environmentalism, and create an annual student-led event. The Green Run received initial funding from Student Council and later won $5,000 from Clark's U-Reka competition. In 2009, the event included 117 runners, 30 volunteers, and raised $1,290 for REC.

The Sustainability Alliance 2017 Annual Report summarizes the organization's accomplishments in 2017 and plans for 2018. In 2017, the Alliance collaborated with numerous environmental and community organizations. It certified 37 businesses in Sedona as sustainable, conducted a sustainability assessment for the City of Sedona, educated the community at various events, and published data on local species and water quality. For 2018, the Alliance plans to grow business certifications to 70, coordinate Earth Day events, strengthen community indicators work with NAU, and continue supporting education through a June 2018 Symposium and partnership with ASU.

It has also published a resource guide for the Lower 9th Ward listing local businesses, churches, and non-profits.
