Stampede Crane Precision Safety Management
Stampede Crane & Rigging was hired by Alta Link to remove two
old towers and install two new, 20 ft higher towers on a power
transmission line in Calgary.
The entire site had live power lines and required precise safety
management practices with absolutely no room for error. “We
ground the equipment and the power transmission tower by
attaching a clamp and cable to the equipment and tower so that
if there’s a spike in the power transmission it will go into the
ground, ensuring a safe working site” commented Ed Belder,
Stampede Crane.
Stampede’s project and safety management, expertise and
equipment were an invaluable asset for this three day project.
Stampede used a National boom truck, a Liebherr 1055 75 ton
crane with an insulator or hot stick, a Liebherr 1095 120 ton
crane with a Line Master robotic arm owned by Alta Link, and a
Liebherr 1160 125 ton crane to handle the 138,000 to 240,000
volt, live power lines.
