- On June 22, ’09, President Obama signed The Family Smoking Prevention & Tobacco Control Act into law. It gives FDA the authority to regulate the manufacture, distribution, and marketing of tobacco products to protect public health. A key component was restricting tobacco and smokeless sales to youth via retail establishments.
