3. Target Audience Profile
ā¢ Target audience be age is 16-30 as there are a wide range of young people that love to
watch romance/love rather than people of older age, it mainly declines through the
years.
ā¢ People who love romance tend to watch films based on it or shows that express love in
different ways to either gather a better understanding of their own about love and
romance or to relate to others who experience romance brining a sense of stimulation
to them that gives them satisfaction.
ā¢ There isnāt any specified gender that needs to be classified as any gender can love short
films and romance. The project doesnāt need a gender to watch specifically as it has an
involvement of a male and female together.
ā¢ Thereās no specified demographic because there could be a lot of people in many
different areas that chare the same interests of romance and love for films/short films.
The story is open to anyone, anywhere who can relate on a personal level about the
struggle of relationships when lovers are kept far apart for a long period of time, itās
something to share on a bigger scale.
ā¢ People who are more likely to purchase this movie would be people who enjoy
watching romance as it makes them happy and gives off a positive attitude.
4. Market
ā¢ A short romantic animated film tells the journey of life though a metaphorical narrative
about love. These themes tend to explore either the pure strength in ones relationship or
exposes the struggles of ones relationship to get a better understanding of the other partner.
Animators who create these either get there inspiration from something that ends in the
worst way or perhaps to tell a story of their own in a unique way.
ā¢ Short films specifically are growing in demand as the emerging streaming platforms have
come with a new, growing online audience and an appetite for different types of content.
Short-length films have started getting remarkable traction. The digital content getting high
viewership has led to the popularity of shorts which generally send across a strong message
in a matter of just 15 to 20 minutes.
ā¢ Short films, whether they are being shared online or through film festivals, are most
profitable as a calling card that will get you more work. Look at it as a resume, but for your
film career. Every short film you write, direct, produce, and most importantly share will lead
to more work.
ā¢ Here are some of the best animated shorts/ short films to name:
ā¢ āSteamboat Willieā (Walt Disney, 1928)
ā¢ āThe Wrong Trousersā (Nick Park, 1993)
ā¢ The Meaning of Lifeā (Don Hertzfeldt, 2005)
ā¢ āKnick Knackā (John Lasseter, 1989)
5. production
ā¢ Here is and article I found that was written by someone who made their own animated
short film describing and giving tips on making different stories for shorts.
ā¢ There are 8 archetypes (or genres) short films usually fit in:
ā¢ 1. the quick arc: In the Quick Arc, a character goes through a sped-up version of a traditional film story arc, using the classic 3 act
structure. That character arc could be a positive arc, in which the character has changed for the better , a flat arc, in which the character
stay the same but they have changed the world around them , or a Negative arc, in which the character had changed for the worse.
ā¢ 2 The duel: The Duel genre has two characters who are up against each other in one way or another. Either by trying to one-up each other by
learning to get along or simply a fight for domination, with one winner and one loser.
ā¢ One important thing to note is that the protagonist(s) donāt change at the end. They might end up at a different place than where they started at, but
it is their persistent personality that drives their actions and leads to their end result. They donāt go through a character arc. At best, they learn to live
with the other character.
ā¢ 3. The Saturday morning cartoon: This type of short features a single character driven by one single motivation. A one-track mind.
They usually want to either get something or get out of a situation, usually in a humorous way with cartoon-like antics.
ā¢ Change isn't an issue for these type of films, as the character isn't any different at the end than they were when they started. It's about watching
them go through hell and back trying to get what they want.
ā¢ The name of this genre is taken from traditional old-fashioned cartoons which featured that style of short filmmaking often.
ā¢ 4. Story time: Story Time films focus on capturing a moment in time (often narrated throughout), or a segmented story that doesn't have an
apparent character arc or any major transformation.
ā¢ The story is often told at us, rather than presented to us through the action of the characters in the film, similar to an animated bed time story, with
a clear storyteller taking us through the journey.
ā¢ It could be a poem an informational film, a small concept piece of what could be a feature film if developed further or a short story about a childhood
memory .
6. ā¢ 5. High concept: A High-Concept film utilizes some kind of interesting and unique concept, usually a visual one. A form of magical
element or world-rule that is expressed prominently through the film.
ā¢ This genre is often blended with other genres, but the main focus and attraction of this kind of film is that unique special element. When
people talk about that film, they will use that twist to describe it.
ā¢ 6. The sketch: You got an idea for a funny sketch, and thatās what this genre is all about. There doesn't have to be much of a story or a
character arc (though there could be), but the main point behind this type of film is a certain funny idea or situation the creator had.
ā¢ A great way to end up with a Sketch type film, is to ask "What if...?ā.
ā¢ 7. The twist: A film in which you have to get to the end of it to understand its point. There's either a big twist, which brings a new light
to everything we've watched so far, or we realize that the story actually loops in a certain way
ā¢ 8. Weird/ Abstract/ No point: This genre doesn't have an apparent point or message, but rather could be a part of a bigger
story (that we simply didnāt get to see), or demonstrate some kind of artistic style or technology. Some are just a form
of experimental, abstract or impressionistic expression of the artist, using the animation medium as the canvas.
ā¢ These are usually those films in which after there's a long silence and lots of confused faces.
7. topic
ā¢ Topics in animated short films are normally explored and considered
similar to normal films. Both types of film cover a range of topics in which
everyone can find themselves investing in.
ā¢ These are topics found in animated short films:
ā¢ Love. Who doesn't enjoy a good love story?
ā¢ Humanity vs. technology.
ā¢ Sacrifice.
ā¢ Good vs. evil.
ā¢ Death.
ā¢ Perseverance.
ā¢ Coming of age.
ā¢ Family drama.

Kitbull is a 2019 American traditionally animated short film directed and
written by Rosana Sullivan, produced by Pixar Animation Studios.
Sullivan said that the creation of the short had originated from her
enjoyment of viewing cat videos.
with critics praising its story, emotional tone, themes, characterization,
and animation. The short was nominated for the Academy Award for Best
Animated Short Film at the 92nd Academy Awards.
Story: A kitten lives in the garbage cans behind a building in San
Francisco. While rummaging for food on the streets, the kitten is offered
food by a passerby but runs away, and he sleeps in a cardboard
box. One day, a pit bull is moved to a doghouse behind the building
where the kitten is hidden. The kitten is initially very scared of the dog but
slowly begins to connect with him by playing with a bottle cap. The pit bull
then goes to help the kitten, who gets trapped in plastic pack rings after
being scared by a storm, but the frightened kitten attacks the dog upon
seeing his fangs. The next day, the two escape the backyard just before
the yard's owner can find them. Some time later, the kitten and the pit bull
are playing out on the street when the kitten is found by the passerby from
before, who, along with her husband, adopts both of them.
Audience feedback: Kitbull has received a largely positive critical
response, being regarded as "adorableā. The short's use of traditional
animation has been praised by critics. One critic said that the short "is
special in that it is the first entirely hand-drawn feature from the studio
known for its cutting-edge digital animation".

Petals was created by my partner Kay
Dominguez, Andie Gallo, with an original score
composed by Stijn van Wakeren. Kay and I worked
together on the story and animation, and then he
worked separately on the storyboards, character
designs and inking, while I was in charge of color,
lighting, and background designs. It was designed as
a tool to promote moral and environmental values
in children, and it was released on November 29th,
2016. It was a hit for children and the purpose of the
animation was to promote Moral and environmental
values to children.
This animated short would definitely be targeted to
children in this case and anyone who just likes
watching animated shorts as well.
14. Research Analysis
ā¢ What common features do the researched
products have?
ā¢ the most common features that I find within all the products here is
that they all have a motive to help someone else to help yourself,
getting closer to them and sharing your emotions. even though the
genres are varied they all come together through being together
with someone, whether it is love or just an unspoken bond.
ā¢ What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
ā¢ One big aspect of the research that Iāve done that Iāll include is from āHereās
the planā and the concept built around love. Love will be a big main point in
my project because it is a good way to express the way I feel personally in a
way no one else can describe.
