and artistic genres.

literature occurred in the mid-19th
century; didacticism of a previous age
began to make way for more humorous,
child-oriented books, more attuned to the
child's imagination.
5. Can literature be taught?

if a student is willing to
learn…”

6. Two basic categories of children’s
literature
1. Literature books
2. Knowledge books
The basic differences are on the purpose they
serve rather than the context itself.

Ενώ

• – Imagination
• Although non-fiction and informative reading is an important skill, kids who
read fantasy novels on a regular basis are more likely to express and explore
their imagination, which is an essential element to childhood. It allows them
to cross the borders of the real world.
22. Storytelling : Definition
Storytelling is the interactive art of
using words and actions to reveal the
elements and images of a story while
encouraging the listener's
imagination. Storytelling forges
connections among people and
between people and ideas. Stories
convey the culture, history, and values
that unite people.

28. Fairytales
• The fairytale genre provides ways for children to receive
important messages. One of the central reasons that
fairytales are important is that they aid in child
development.
29. Fairytales
• The first, and rather obvious benefit of reading fairy tales to children, is that they
can develop a love for books. Reading teaches youngsters new vocabulary,
enhances their imagination, improves their creative process and makes them
better learners overall.
30. Fairytales
• Generally, children's knowledge about reality is objective. When
listening to fairy tales, children are often deeply affected by their
contents and, at the same time, their imagination develops and takes on
new shapes. Thus, fairytales affect a child's emotional, physical and
mental development.
31. THE EFFECT OF
FAIRY TALES ON
THE
DEVELOPMENT
OF PRESCHOOL
CHILDREN'S
IMAGINATION
• They show common truths regarding men
and the world around them in a simple
manner. Tales and stories introduce the
meaning of existence to the child, they show
him aims pre-established by humans, teach
proper behaviours, and what is more,
familiarize children with moral norms
rewarded by the society.
32. THE EFFECT OF
FAIRY TALES ON
THE
DEVELOPMENT
OF PRESCHOOL
CHILDREN'S
IMAGINATION
• Therefore, depicting the real world combined
with fantastic phenomena in fairy tales
compels the child to many reflections and
conceptions. Fairytale-inspired fantasizing
gives children an ability to present the effects
of their own creation by inventing new stories
or transforming the already familiar literary
works.
33. Emotions in Imaginative Situations: The Valued Place
of Fairytales for Supporting Emotion Regulation
It is suggested that
fairytales have a valuable
place within early
childhood programs
because they introduce
emotionally charged
imaginative situations
which is believed to
support children's emotion
regulation in group care
situations.
In drawing upon cultural-
historical research, it is stressed
how fairytales help children to
collectively develop emotion
regulation, where the unity of
emotions and cognition are
foregrounded during the
telling, retelling, and role-
playing of fairytales, allowing
for a dynamic interplay
between interpsychological and
intrapsychological functioning.
35. Comics:
Definition
• Stories accompanied by images, either in
a form of a text or in stripes or in bubbles,
usually coming in dialogues, describing
action. Vivid colours and symbols are
common characteristics. What renders
them extremely popular is the
combination of images and action.
36. Comics
• They can make the stillnessmovement & the
readingsound
37. What is the purpose of comics?
• Most comic books are published to entertain young readers. Classic works of
literature have also been put into comic book form. But the popularity of comic
books has led many kinds of organizations to use them for different purposes. For
instance, companies have used comic books to promote their product or services.
