Edgar Allan Poe was born in 1809 in Boston. He is known for his works of mystery and horror which helped establish the modern detective story genre. His most famous poems include "The Raven" and "The Tell-Tale Heart." Poe died in 1849 and is considered one of the most influential American authors.
