Time
Lensey Namioka née Chao (born June 14th, 1929) is a Chinese-born American writer of
books for young adults and children. She writes about China and Chinese American families,
also about Japan, her husband's native country. Namioka has won many awards for her work.
She later had two girls, Aki and Michi. When She Was Nine Years Old, She Moved To The U.S

ABOUT?
CHARACTERS
Three Sons- Not much is known about the three sons, but we know their father is a farmer. The sons
wanted to hear a bedtime story, so they were told the story of Urashima Taro. These boys are
rowdy.
Zenta- Zenta is a ronin. When he was seventeen, he got a job as a bodyguard to Tokubei. Zenta lives
in Japan, and had an interesting experience involving a hoax and missing time.
Tokubei- Tokubei is a wealthy merchant from Sakai. He got a bodyguard, Zenta. The two went on a
journey, where they had their "missing time" experience.
Six-fingered Girl- This girl is a pretty girl, and she has six fingers on her left hand. She was one of the
innkeepers of the inn, and she was new to innkeeping.
Male Innkeeper- This man was Zenta and Tokubei's host. He ran the inn with the six-fingered girl. He
used to be a samurai.
Farmer- The person who tells the bed-time story at the beginning of the tale

PLOT
INTERNAL CONFLICT
The internalconflict is provided by the story told by Zentawhen
drinking tea being altogether.
EXTERNAL CONFLICT
The externalconflict is provided by the story told by the farmerat
the beginningof the story.
EXPOSITION
Zentais sat down with theother people drinking tea and talking
about theUrashima Taro´s talewhen hesays he had lived before
withTokubei.
RISINGACTION
Zentadescribes how thingshappennedwhenhe was 18 years old
working as a body-guard for a business man.
CLIMAX
Zentaenters withTokubei to an inn. Theyare well-received by the
owners of the inn.Zentaand Tokumeiare drunk by thesixth-finger-
left-handgirl and they wokeup thinkingthey have slept for 50
years.
FALLINGACTION
Zentarealizes thesleeping of fiftyyears is a lie. He goes over the
truthby checkingall thepossible things which are confusingwhen
Tokumeiis thinkingabout givingthe money to return 50 years or at
least 20 years to his timeto be withhis wife.
RESOLUTION
Matsuzo realizes the wifeof the farmer is a sixth-finger-left-hand
girland is a relativeto thewoman of Zenta´sstory. Zentareturns to
theinn to seeif they had changed from gettingthegests drunk.
