• Second Life is an open-ended virtual world who’s primary focus is

                                                          -Google

• Second Life (abbreviated as SL) is an Internet-based virtual world where its
Residents interact with each other through motional avatars, providing an
advanced level of a social network service.
                                                        -Wikipedia
History

• It is a virtual world developed by Philip Rosedale in
2003 (who is known as Philip Linden inworld).
• It doesn’t have an objective, nor mechanics or rules.
It contains a three-dimensional world based in
geometric shapes that enables residents to interact
with each other through avatars to build virtual
objects, socialize, to have sexual relations, to build
  houses, buildings, to fly …
• Residents are the users who have an account in
  Second Life.
• In November 2010, approximately 21.3 million
accounts were registered from all over the world.

• Second life is used for any age, but now requires
users to be at least 18 to access Adult areas.

  • #16 So How big is SL? SL is a social environment. Consequently you will find places for Discussions, Sports, Entertainment, Games, Pagaents, Charity and Support groups, Art and Culture, etc. But how big is it really? Well…besides the fact that there are 13 million residents. Well….it’s global. Each color represents a country that is present in SL. Green is the US, blue germany, marroon France. This has great implications for foreign culture and language exchange and learning.
