The Emergency Preparedness and Environment Section strengthens emergency response globally by setting standards for efficient emergency preparedness and response. It coordinates international efforts to prepare for and respond to environmental emergencies. The Section leads implementation of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee's Emergency Response Preparedness approach to increase the speed and volume of humanitarian assistance. It delivers training and technical support for the Emergency Response Preparedness framework. The Section also houses the Joint United Nations Environment Programme/OCHA Environment Unit to ensure an integrated approach to preparing for and responding to environmental emergencies.
