This document discusses the types and locations of volcanoes. There are three main types of volcanoes: shield volcanoes, which are the largest and usually form at hotspots; stratovolcanoes, which are the most explosive and usually form at subduction zones; and cinder cones, which are the most common but smallest and also usually form at subduction zones. Most volcanoes are located at subduction zones, spreading centers, or hotspots. Examples of different volcano types are provided.
