Horse racing originated in Central Asia over 4,500 years ago when nomadic tribes first domesticated horses. It died out in early America but was revived in the 1920s as track operators lobbied legislators, arguing it could generate substantial profits for states. A key figure was Colonel Matt J. Winn, who ended an anti-gambling movement in Kentucky, paving the way for states like Kentucky and Maryland to legalize horse racing and gambling in 1906 and 1920 respectively. More states followed suit during the Depression to gain revenue, such as California receiving $3 million.
The Gold Rush of 1858 passed through the region and Port Pemberton was established as a stopping house along the Douglas Trail. Over 30,000 gold rushers passed through the region making their way to the goldfields of Lillooet and beyond. Beyond the Gold Rush of 1858 there were other major events happening in Canada and in the world.

A resident of Memphis, Tennessee, Jimmy Winemiller is a real estate agent/operator who has successfully managed several of his own companies. Jimmy Winemiller and his wife are also lovers of horses. They have invested in racing horses and have had one race at Churchill Downs, the world-famous racetrack in Louisville that is home to the prestigious Kentucky Derby.
The Kentucky Derby is the longest-running sporting event in the United States. It all started when Colonel Meriwether Lewis Clark Jr. returned home from a trip to England and France. While he was in Europe, the colonel fell in love with horse racing and wanted to bring the spectacle back to his home country.
Membership subscriptions raised the original funding for Churchill Downs, 320 at $100 apiece. Owners leased the land from Colonel Clark’s uncles. The original Churchill Downs complex comprised a clubhouse, a grandstand, a porters’ lodge, and six stables. On May 17, 1875, Churchill Downs held its first race, and a crowd of 10,000 spectators witnessed the three main races, including the 1.5-mile Kentucky Derby.

Certain slides would seem to be non sequitur as the cues to fill them gaps are supposed to be given out by the quizmaster, without which, in my opinion, the activity of 'quizmastering' is rendered pretty much futile.
2. Watched in almost every nation of the world, horse racing, is a sport that has its origins
in Central Asia. These Asians were the first to domesticate horses in about 4500 BC, and there for
these nomadic tribesmen invented one of the most ancient sports in human kind.
During the first years of the American nation horse racing died out, but in was revived
during the 1920’s because track operators convinced legislators that horse racing could supply a
substantial amount of profit to individual states. Also one of the most influential men of the horse
racing movement was Colonel Matt J. Winn, president of Churchill Downs, who managed to end
an anti-gambling movement that had been established in Kentucky and neighboring states. The
first to legalize horse racing and gambling was Kentucky in 1906, and in 1920 Maryland also
legalized horse racing and gambling. Later the depression also increased the amount of states that
legalized horse racing and gambling because of the revenue that each state government was
receiving. California for instance received 3 million in revenue.

5. Tennis is believed to have invented in 1873 by Major Walter Clopton
Wingfield, a british officer. At first Walter said he just modeled the game after
the game Sphairistike, a greek game that means playing the ball, but many
asserted that he just adapted the game of court tennis, joining it with squash
rackets. Tennis first called lawn tennis varied much in rules until it reached the
British colonies and America to establish the famous tournaments of
Wimbledon and the US championships. Norwegian Molla Mallory won the US
championships eight times from 1915 through 1926 and American Bill Tilden
won Wimbledon three times 1920, 1921, and 1930.
