A young man uses social media to distract himself from the physical abuse by his elder brother, meeting a girl who temporarily takes his mind off his family problems. As an immature teenager not considering consequences, he gets the girl pregnant after taking advantage of opportunities, becoming a father without realizing it due to his actions. The story board aims to raise awareness of teenage pregnancy by showing how one seeks an escape from abuse through social media leading to an unplanned pregnancy.
Reading and Re-adding The Wire by 26H (Wouter Pocornie)
guest lecture Multiperspectivism
University of Amsterdam, 9/2/2015
------------------------------
26H CONSULT:
Monday (9/2/2015) I had the opportunity to share some insights and thoughts on the critically acclaimed series The Wire (HBO) at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). As an guest lecturer I presented for a BSc course on Multiperspectivism: ‘Reading and Re-adding The Wire’.
I’m convinced that The Wire contains so many layers of storytelling and production that the creators, predominately David Simon, have constructed an universe to extract from. They call it a visual novel.
My lecture is a prefix to what 26H Breakdowns (Movies, Series, and Music) in the future will provide. Some content will become visible as soon as the course is finished. In addition I’m writing an article for an upcoming book comprised and published by the University of Amsterdam.
Core chapters:
• ‘America, That Got Left Behind (Opening Scene) –aka– Snotboogie’
• ‘The Game (Chess Scene) –aka– The Demise of Pawns’
• ‘Gentrification (The Demolition of the Towers Scene –aka– Reform’
• ‘Marlo Stanfield (portrayed by Jamie Hector) –aka– Black’
• 'Michael Lee (portrayed by Tristan Wilds) –aka– Fresh?’
One of the chapters in the presentation was: ‘Marlo Stanfield (portrayed by Jamie Hector) –aka– Black’. I shared insights on the limited trivia surrounding this intriguing character and made arguments for a possible applied beat sheet, references to Goldman Sachs, the character as an allegory, and the minimalistic (silent) performance of the actor.
The final chapter in the presentation was: 'Michael Lee (portrayed by Tristan Wilds) –aka– Fresh?’. This is an attempt to link the character Michael Lee in The Wire to the character Michael aka Fresh in the movie Fresh (1994). This is also a conclusive part of the presentation, bringing back the wider context to subjectively (re-)add to the analysis of The Wire.
------------------------------
LOOK OUT FOR:
November 2015 when the University of Amsterdam is organizing an ‘Open Collegedag: The Wire’ for the second time around. On this day the publication will be presented and some of the speakers, if I’m lucky including myself, will present to a wider audience. Keep you posted. Much obliged.

Empowering social through search slideshare versionPer A. Knudsen
This document summarizes a presentation about empowering social media through search. It discusses how search and social media are interlinked and how organizations need to adapt. A key point is that content should be the primary focus. Insights from data can help content production. It also discusses how search has evolved to include more context and social signals. Social media platforms are also becoming more search-focused. The presentation argues that organizations need to structure themselves to match the digital ecosystem and not focus solely on individual channels. It emphasizes creating multi-purpose content that extends beyond any single platform. Predicting trends through data can provide insights for content planning in social media.
The document discusses common camera shots used in horror films and the camera shots the author plans to use in their own horror film trailer. It describes shots like close-ups to show character emotion, medium shots to show both facial and body expression, long shots to set the scene, low angles to create fear and implement suspense, and high angles to create suspense about what may be lurking from above. It also discusses using over-the-shoulder shots to make the audience feel like they are peeking behind characters, and high angle point-of-view shots so the audience understands the setting and feels something is lurking above out of view.
This document provides costume, hair, and makeup ideas for characters in a horror film set at a high school called "Sorority Row". The antagonist, Genner, will wear dark clothing and have her hair up to show her control, covering her face at times to depict vulnerability. Taylor will appear natural but well-presented. Jamal will dress fashionably in white and black to portray his dual nature, and have an unkept hairstyle to seem laidback. The elite group will dress casually to seem uncaring. Genner will wear dark makeup highlighting her inner darkness, while Taylor wears none to seem natural.

NOMINATION: My MSc Thesis (in the direction of Urbanism) was selected for the NALACS Thesis Award. On February 27, next Friday, the 7 nominees from various disciplines present a Pecha Kucha during a special event. I will briefly share my research results and share some of my experience in Haiti.
About NALACS:
NALACS, the Netherlands Association for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, is an association for everyone in the Netherlands who is interested in Latin America and the Caribbean. Its mission is to promote insight and debate on issues related to the region in the Netherlands.
About the thesis, in short:
The thesis research focuses on formulating a critical alternative approach within (post-disaster re-)development and advocating the relevance of urbanism within (post-disaster re-)development. It explores an education-orientated development approach to transform a community’s infrastructure, strengthening resilience of communities and applying urban structures based on principles of sustainability. The case study is the neighborhood Villa Rosa in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. See excerpt: goo.gl/gzP9sB
Accountable Care Organizations are relatively new in the healthcare marketplace. Their business models are already changing to better engage their surrounding marketplaces and the needs of patients, payers and caregivers. They offer challenges and opportunities for healthcare service providers, medical / pharmaceutical manufacturers and managed care.

Conventions of supernatural and possession filmsshani-ross
Supernatural and possession films aim to scare audiences with their deepest fears. There are two main types - religious films about possession by demons or spirits, and demonic films where an evil force takes over an innocent person's body. Common conventions include subtle props, ghosts appearing at night, and unusual body movements showing possession. To build suspense and fear, films use loud screams, slow ominous music, and intense faster music in montages. Stock locations are typically suburban homes, hospitals, and places like Rome that have religious significance. Camera techniques that heighten realism include quick cuts, high angles, close-ups of characters' emotions, and shaky hand-held camera work.
Continuous integration (CI) is the practice of frequently integrating code changes into a shared repository. It helps prevent integration problems by merging developers' working copies with a mainline version. CI uses a CI server like Bamboo to automate building, testing, and reporting on changes. Bamboo defines plans, stages, jobs, tasks, agents, and artifacts to continuously build code, run tests, and provide feedback to developers on a code change's impact.
This document provides an overview of a professional development session for library support staff at Tanglin Trust School.
The session covered topics like job shadowing experiences, courses provided by the National Library Board Academy and WDA to upgrade skills, and challenges to providing professional development like budget, time, and mindset issues. Strategies discussed to address these challenges included online training, in-house sessions during holidays, and reframing perceptions of "training". The document aims to show how the school makes professional development opportunities happen for its library support team.
