EdTech Team Published
Once again this year our District will make February our Digital Wellness month. In preparation for this
year, our EdTech Team has been collaborating with a Digital Wellness company called Flipd to develop a
series of Teacher blogs on the same topic! Flipd wanted to work with us because they said our District is
far ahead of where other districts they were talking to are in regards to teaching students and families
about developing a healthy digital lifestyle.
The first Hilliard blog is available on the Flipd website now. We are happy to share the first one in the
#TeacherSeries by Maria Stead. You can read her blog now, and check back each week to read more
from our EdTech Team.

2. Innovation Campus Open House
The Innovation Campus will be hosting an open house on September 18th from 6-7pm. All parents and
students in the district are welcome to join us to see both the Innovative Learning Center and the new
Hub. You will also get to meet the staff, and learn about the programming that is available to all students
in grades 7-12.
First ISPTO Meeting of the Year
Our first ISPTO (Interschool PTO) meeting of the year will be on Tuesday, September 18th
at the
Innovative Learning Hub (the Hub). From 6:00-7:00 pm you can tour the Innovative Learning Campus
during their Open House. The ISPTO meeting will begin at 7:00 pm in the Hub Cafeteria. During the
meeting, we will have a presentation about the ILC and programs offered and share plans for ISPTO for
the year.
Student Hackathon
Capital University will host the 2018 Columbus Regional TECHCORPShack on Friday, November 16,
6pm-9pm and Saturday, November 17, 9am-4pm for high school students in grades 9 through 12. This
event, sponsored by AT&T, will give high school students the opportunity to learn about computer science
in a fun, engaging and inclusive environment.
During the event, students will learn how to explore the world of mobile app development to create an app
that tackles a real-world need or problem. Students will also have the opportunity to meet and work with
peers, technology professionals and advocates from their community.

4th Annual Community Cardboard Challenge
Hilliard City Schools will host its 4th
Annual Community Cardboard Challenge on Saturday, October
6th from 9:00-12:00 at Heritage Middle School. Families enjoy coming together and participating in this
event to create a cardboard masterpiece. If this is your first Cardboard Challenge, you can watch a short
video on the inspiration for this event.
Our Community Card Board Challenge is not necessarily promoting the creation of arcades...but the
creation of ANYTHING during this event from 9:00-12:00 on October 6th. The purpose of this event is to
celebrate and embrace CREATIVITY, COLLABORATION, and COMMUNICATION within the
community. All supplies will be provided and students can take home what they make. We do hope you
will be able to join us for this fantastic family event!

3. If you would like to donate items for this event we will need a LOT of packing Tape, duct tape, scissors,
cardboard and markers. You can take those to your nearest elementary school.
Homework Help
The Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Homework Help Centers are now open, offering the students in your
family free afterschool help. Find the hours at the Hilliard Branch here.
