AT&T and CMHA Host Another Access from AT&T Event in
Cleveland to Help Improve Digital Inclusion
CMHA residents are Eligible for A Nanodegree Scholarship
CLEVELAND, April 26, 2017—AT&T1 and the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority
(CMHA) hosted another event to help inform area residents about applying for Access from
AT&T, an internet program for qualifying low-income households. The event also served as
an opportunity to announce that AT&T will provide up to 100 Udacity Nanodegree program
scholarships to select residents of HUD ConnectHome pilot communities across the nation,
including in Cleveland.
“I commend AT&T for bringing the Access from AT&T and Udacity Nanodegree programs to
our neighborhoods,” said Cleveland City Councilmember Phyllis Cleveland. “By taking
advantage of these offerings, more of our residents will now have an opportunity to have
an affordable high-speed internet connection, while furthering their education.”
“CMHA is proud to partner with AT&T again to bridge the digital divide for residents,” said
Jeffery K. Patterson, CMHA Chief Executive Officer. “Access to low-cost internet service and
educational opportunities are key components of Cleveland Connects, CMHA’s digital
inclusion initiative.”
“An affordable home internet connection is vital to promote digital inclusion, making it
possible for more families to complete homework, apply for jobs, and keep in touch with
family and friends,” said Nicolette Jaworski, Director of External Affairs for AT&T Ohio.
“That’s why we want eligible households in Cleveland to be aware of Access from AT&T.”
Access from AT&T
Access from AT&T provides eligible households internet speed tiers of 10Mbps and 5Mbps
for $10 a month, and internet speed tiers of 3Mbps, 1.5Mbps or 768Kbps for $5 a month2.
Customers will be assigned the fastest speed available where they live. AT&T will also waive
installation and internet equipment fees for participating households.
Access from AT&T is offered to households located across the 21 states where AT&T offers
wireline home internet service3, and at least 1 household resident participates in the U.S.
Department of Agriculture Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). In California,
households receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program benefits may also qualify.
AT&T has worked with more than 500 national, state and local groups to inform potential

program participants. This includes social service groups and organizations that represent
veterans, seniors, non-English speakers and others.
AT&T has also contacted all school districts where Access from AT&T is available, asking for
their help in communicating about the program to families.
Udacity Nanodegree
Nanodegree programs are self-paced, online curricula that provide students in-demand
skills to help obtain tech-related jobs. Courses help students and job-seekers develop skills
in areas such as web development, mobile development and data analytics.
Cleveland residents of HUD communities are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
