Manufacturing and the data conundrum: Too much? Too little? Or just right?, commissioned by Wipro, examines how manufacturers are using integrated data collection and analysis to improve production throughput, reduce costs and improve quality. The research is based on a survey of 50 C-suite executives from manufacturers in North America and Western Europe.
The survey shows that just 42% of respondents have what they consider to be a well-defined data-management strategy. However, 62% are not sure they have been able to keep up with the large volumes of data they collect, as it comes from too many sources and in a variety of formats and speeds.
The report also finds that while over 90% of manufacturers collect data from monitoring production processes, less than half have in place predictive data analytics, and less than 40% use data analysis to find solutions to production problems.

In the new world of Digital Transformation, cross-company and even cross-domain collaboration play a crucial role in creating new business value. As part of these new business models, data analysis and exchange across companies are essential, but questions of data protection sometimes hinder a successful establishment of these new business models. This talk presents typical situations we experience with companies in this context and introduces the mostly unknown concept of data usage control that extends the classical access control in order to enable new data-driven business models. Concrete project examples show how this concept was used for different domains and also cross-company collaboration (the PRO-OPT project).

Abstract:
In the new world of Digital Transformation, cross-company and even cross-domain collaboration play a crucial role in creating new business value. As part of these new business models, data analysis and exchange across companies are essential, but questions of data protection sometimes hinder a successful establishment of these new business models. This talk presents typical situations we experience with companies in this context and introduces the mostly unknown concept of data usage control that extends the classical access control in order to enable new data-driven business models. Concrete project examples show how this concept was used for different domains and also cross-company collaboration (the PRO-OPT project).

The optimization of hybrid solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems plays a pivotal role in utilizing natural resources effectively. This initiative not only benefits humanity but also fosters environmental sustainability. The study investigated the design optimization of these hybrid systems, focusing on understanding solar radiation patterns, identifying geographical influences on solar radiation, formulating a mathematical model for system optimization, and determining the optimal configuration of PV panels and pumped hydro storage. Through a comparative analysis approach and eight weeks of data collection, the study addressed key research questions related to solar radiation patterns and optimal system design. The findings highlighted regions with heightened solar radiation levels, showcasing substantial potential for power generation and emphasizing the system's efficiency. Optimizing system design significantly boosted power generation, promoted renewable energy utilization, and enhanced energy storage capacity. The study underscored the benefits of optimizing hybrid solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems for sustainable energy usage. Optimizing the design of solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems as examined across diverse climatic conditions in a developing country, not only enhances power generation but also improves the integration of renewable energy sources and boosts energy storage capacities, particularly beneficial for less economically prosperous regions. of old design guides and large excel calculation tables to quickly
calculate daily needed engineering parameters such as clamping force
or residence time may be a way to follow. Another way is to use free
online sources. These eliminate the need of having several apps on
your mobile phone. I selected 15 tools which have proven to be
powerful when it comes to quickly estimate engineering data for an
existing or new application idea.
Since we have our phone always with us and are connected to the
worldwide web it is easy to get hands on with online running pages.
