PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT OF HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS: AN EMPIRICAL STUD...IAEME Publication
There is need to increase the quality in the higher educational institutions. Quality
is the key parameter of discussion among HEIs and essential in competitive era. Every
institution has to perform its role effectively and survival of it is depending on the
capability to attract and retain the stakeholders, with recognition and reputation. The
present study has extracted seven factors by using exploratory factor analysis on
student’s perception. These factors are Digitization of Academic Awards, Campus
Placement, Extracurricular Activities, Infrastructure and Resources, Seminar and
Industrial Visits, Teaching Skills and Students Support System which will be useful for
the educational planners and the administrators in designing a more effective system
that can be valuable to improve the overall productivity of academics in higher
education. Therefore, this research has emphasized that government need to
concentrate on improving the enrollment of the students under NAD and a proper
focus will have to be given on policies and strategies to appoint high quality faculty by
the academicians.
Abstract
- Institutions of higher learning face a new situation on
higher education. It holds some novel threats and presents some
fresh opportunities. Given the uncertainty of the future, collage
and university administrators cannot allow their organizations to
drift. This study assessed the managerial skills development of the
administrators of the five (5) well-established private institutions
of higher learning in Batangas, Philippines. A combination of
descriptive-purposive research design and survey method was used to
determine the managerial dimensions exhibited by the administrators.
Mean, Likert Scale, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Pearson Product
Moment Correlation Coefficient and and Bivariate Correlation were
used. There is no significant difference in the assessment of the three
groups of respondents in terms of communication skills and solving
problems effectively. However, there is a significant difference in terms
of self leadership, managing the task effectively, managing the people
effectively, and managing interpersonal relations effectively.
There is
a very high significant relationship among all the managerial skills
dimensions required of the institution administrators using the same
managerial dimensions. The managerial skills of the administrators
have to be enhanced to improve the quality of people in the institution.
The Proposed Executive Development Program and Training Model
are strongly recommended.

The impact of leadership competence and administrative leadership on higher e...Turyamureeba Silaji
Situational leadership style is closely linked to leadership effectiveness in universities and
global settings. Effective academic leaders employ the four leadership modalities of "telling,
selling, participating, and delegating" and must possess a set of skills and take on specific
responsibilities. Good academic leaders have the necessary skills and positions when hired
and use different leadership philosophies depending on the scenario. To ensure good
academic leadership, systematic programs for leadership development are crucial. The study
aims to review literature on leadership competences and administrative leaders in higher
institutions worldwide. The researcher used ProQuest and various web-based providers to
search for published articles in social science and management education related to
leadership competences and administrative leaders in higher institutions. Review findings
show that administrative executives struggle with change management in the real world,
struggle to embrace new practices, and struggle with using constructive aspects of conflict
in conflict resolution. Additionally, administrative leaders struggle with setting priorities to
make the best judgments.

FACTORS THAT MOTIVATE FEMALES TO PURSUE MBA
DEGREE FROMIIUI
Statementof the Problem
There are many female students seeking to further their studies to postgraduate
level. Many of them are from different family backgrounds with narrow minds who
may not allow them for further education. Many come from different financial
backgrounds. some, due to lack of financial resources gets deprived them of future
education. They would be looking for programs that best meet their needs in terms
of content as well as their family’s financial position and lifestyle. It is therefore
important that Islamic international university while offering MBA programs align
them with their needs. There is intense competition among educational institutions
to attract students to their programs. Only those universities that can offer programs
that meet the students’ needs will be able to have the competitive edge over others.
In order to determine needs of students where MBA program is concerned, this
research has to be carried out. Many successful business corporations have
diversified into education. They are marketing their programs aggressively using
national advertising campaigns, large marketing budgets, and more local staff
recruiters who connect students with their financial institution. Because of these
challenges, marketers at programs such as the university under study must
determine what matters to the target audience in order to craft effective strategic
communications messages to recruit new students and hold on to market share as
well as to tailor programs that students desire. The main purpose of this research is
to determine to what motivates these females to persure MBA programs and how do
they meet the learning needs of the potential MBA students.
ResearchObjectives
(i) To determine the respondents’ choice of the MBA programs offered by the
International Islamic university.
(ii) To identify the reason for selecting the MBA program.
(iii) To determine whether there is association between demographic
characteristics of the respondents and their choice of MBA program.
(iv) To determine whether there is association between reason for studying MBA
and choice of MBA program.
3. Significanceof the Study
The findings of this study will enable the International Islamic university to identify the
needs of potential MBA students and thereby better meet their needs. This could
increase the attractiveness of the university’s MBA programs thereby increase the
enrollment of students
LITERATURE REVIEW
In a paper published by Dr.Asha Prasad ,Dr.Shruti Gupta & Nivedita Jha (2014) , “JOB
MARKET TURBULENCE AND ITS IMPACT ON STUDENT ENROLLMENT IN
MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS ” , they surveyed 78 final year students pursuing their
graduation for the purpose of this study which revealed seven factors or components
influence a student’s choice of MBA Program. They pointed out that market dynamics
which covers the Competition, Employment Opportunities, Political Factors, Recession,
Industrial Visits, Summer and Winter Internship influences the choice of MBA program
for students.
Another variable identified is called Technology enabled Teaching covering High Tech
Labs, Teaching Material and Teaching Aid. According to this research, Technology
education can provide students with a wealth of information and knowledge, which they
can then use in the future to purse a related career.
As studying MBA requires a lot of investment, Economic Factors also influence the
decision of individuals for pursuing degree in MBA, Economic factors covers Course
Fee, Residential Campus and Student Exchange Program.

In a paper published by Sochipan Chantasuwanno and Sineenat Suasungnern on The
motivation and satisfaction of the students towards MBA at Karlstad
University.Motivation is an internal state that arouses, diects and maintain behavior .The
study of motivation helps us in understanding of an action, directionand the people
involvement to achieve their goals.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) and the reasons of students to select Karlstad
University. Theoretical framework had been collected from secondary data. The study

that influences them to study MBA at Karlstad University and their satisfaction towards
the university and MBA program. This research is studied in order to check the
motivation factors affecting student decision to study MBA at Karlstad University.
In a paper published by Ainin Sulaiman and Suhana Mohezar, University of Malaya
.The demand for MBA has been increased over recent years. Having an MBA
qualification is near to a passport for a managerial role. The MBA education, however,
has changed and fluctuated. In our intense global work environment, MBA graduates
are often criticized for their lack of ability to transfer knowledge to real situations. This
study, aims to explore the learning of the MBA program by analyzing students’
perceptions. The results of the study of data gathering from many MBA graduates, from
the MBA program in University Malaya, identifies that the program increases the
learning skills of its participants. The more value that an MBA provides can be seen
from the students’ achievement in terms of core competency and interpersonal skills.
5. Overall and as a summary, from the review of concepts and motivational elements of
graduates students studied in the literature (RU. Int. J. vol. 3(1), 200), we can list a set
of motivational factors such as to fulfill one’s personal goals, family’s expectation and
to comply with peer pressure. This study obtain credentials as regulated by the local
and state laws. The Thai culture has been greatly influenced by Buddhism, and Thai
people tend to have strong family values. Regarding Thai landers, some researchers
have said that:
“The Thai people are a self-contained people who have a need for harmony,
cooperation and balance. The love and support within the family is extremely
important to people in Thailand, as is the case in most Asian cultures. The structure of
the family tends to be based on hierarchy. The elderly are well-respected and there is a
clear distinction between family members (Mujtaba, Luk, Murphy & Saowakul,
2008). ”
A student might pursue an MBA degree in order to fulfill the esteem need from
his/her family, thus the student receives satisfaction, love, and affection from family
members in return. Another reason could be to comply with peer pressure in one’s
extended or professional family, or to follow peers in order to be part of the group. In
Thai culture the group is the primary unit of social organization as a consequence of
their living in extended families; thus, this explains why it is easier for them to work
cohesively as teams and groups.
VARIABLES:
1. Career development: we take career development as our independent
variable because it has a relationship with dependent variables which is
“factors that motivate students to pursue degree in management sciences
from IIUI”. Every student wants to study to build a good career in life. Career
development gives us direction to achieve our goals and objective which as a
student we set in our life and career growth also trained us for new innovation
in the economy and to have a reputable position in the society (Khalid Javaid
Anwer, July 2013).
2. Skills and Knowledge: to pursue degree in management sciences can be a
very beneficial qualification because it enhance our knowledge and skills.
With the help of this study we develop our presentation skills, we think in a
better way that what are the different current issues going in our economy
(Khalid Javaid Anwer, July 2013). We can enhance our existing body of
knowledge this degree do not only restricted to the books, it teaches us how
we behave in practical life? It also develop in ourselves leadership skills and
enhance our current career.
6. 3. Financial resources: study identify the multiple barriers and have limited
resources to assists them in higher education. This study also tells that
number of Hmong students pursing higher education can face many problems
and barrier. (Kremen School of Education and Human Development
California State University, Fresno August 2011)
4. Labour Market :Those who pursue degree in management sciences will
have greater need of labour market. As I explain earlier that degree in
management sciences is a professional study and we must practically do
each and every thing we have studied. So for experience and also to fulfil
the needs some of the students of management sciences do part time jobs in
the different organizations and internship of six month is compulsory after
the completion of degree so we have opportunity to express our skills in this
period and may be the senior staff after internship Hire them on the
permanent basis According to Master of Business Administration becomes
the most important in professional business education and resource toward
internationalization and standardization in higher education, and as well
trying to connect between firms and educational institutions In European
labor market, there has been growing faster demand for MBA and numbers
of MBA programmers rather than USA and Great Britain (Bykjeflot 2003).
“An area of economic exchange in which workers seek jobs and employers
seek workers. A “tight” labor market has more jobs than workers. In a
“slack” labour market, the reverse is true”.
5. Female Education System: Another variable identified is the presence of
separate education system for females in the Islamic International
University, which creates a comfortable and free environment for the
females as well as their families. Some families are not open enough to
accept co education and are reluctant to enrol their females in a co education
system.
6. Market Dynamics- “It is imperative to consider the role of macro
environment in influencing student’s decision. During past few years, the
competition among business schools has increased tremendously. This in
turn is influencing the employment opportunities too as with each passing
year the market is loaded with the MBA graduates.” Dr.Asha Prasad
,Dr.Shruti Gupta & Nivedita Jha (2014) .Hence, this variable has been called
Market Dynamics, and it covers the Competition, Employment
