This document summarizes a study on depression among adolescents in Kashmir, India. The study examined differences in depression levels based on sex and rural/urban residence. A sample of 600 adolescents completed a depression scale. The results showed no significant difference in depression between rural and urban adolescents. However, female adolescents reported significantly higher levels of depression than male adolescents. The researchers attributed this to greater feelings of insecurity in terms of status and power among female adolescents.
