CONGRATULATIONS for getting this far and doing
the hard work! Your brand should start to feel
like it's coming together. To recap, we've crafted
your brand mission and vision, identified your
ideal client, defined your unique special sauce,
and designed your visual vibe. We've developed
your visual presence through storytelling and by
listing out the photo stories that can add depth
and distinction to your business. You've created
a brand that stands for something!
Now that you’ve built a strong brand and a clear
message, it’s time to talk about visibility and
being top of mind with your audience.
We need to create a content plan and start taking
some real action to get noticed and connect
with our audience. Your new priority? Sharing a
variety of content that serves your people, helps
you stand out, and brings your audience closer
to buying from you. That means showing up on a
consistent basis (because let’s be honest, out of
sight = out of mind).

This is when it gets real! Yes, I know
it can feel scary to put yourself out
there. It can feel intimidating to
become the face of your brand and be
seen online. It can feel overwhelming
to generate daily content with
your network. I totally get it. I get
overwhelmed too.
But the truth is, if you're not present and seen,
you could be forgotten and possibly leave
money on the table. In today's complex world, it
is imperative to have a consistent conversation
with your people. It could be a newsletter, a
blog post, social media or video. Whatever the
medium, you must offer value to your audience.
As entrepreneurs, I understand how busy it
can get trying to do ALL THE THINGS. If we’re
not intentional about it, creating compelling
content for our brands can become just another
unchecked task on the to-do list.
What we need is a smart blueprint that will walk
us through the steps to effectively connect with
our audience — a solid plan that, even when life
gets crazy, will keep us visible and get RESULTS.
This week, I’m sharing a story bank of content
prompts plus a monthly plug-in calendar to get
you going.
These tools will give you direction on what
themes you can share with your audience to
be seen as an expert and most importantly, as
your authentic self. Plus, you will now have a
calendar to fill in before every month to keep
you on track and consistent. Never again will
you say, “I have nothing to post!”

You may be wondering what
platforms are best for sharing
your brand stories?
As you know, there are several places to
share content: blogs, newsletter, your website,
Instagram, Facebook, just to name a few. It can
feel a bit overwhelming when trying to select
your channels.
When deciding where to share and be visible,
think about your ideal clients and where they
spend their time. How do they like to consume
information? Pick the channels where your
clients are showing up consistently. For example,
most moms are on Facebook and most business
professionals are on LinkedIn.
Also, think about where you like to hang out and
be engaged. What platforms do you enjoy and
feel connected to? In order for any visibility plan
to be sustainable, you have to be committed. The
best way to stay on track and be successful for
the long term is to actually like that medium. If
you're a natural writer, consider starting a blog.
If you have a love for photography, Instagram
may be your jam.
Start small — choose 1-2 platforms and measure
your impact there first. Then expand your
platforms to include more channels. If you’re
still unsure, go ahead and ASK your audience —
conduct a poll.
You may also wonder when you
should be posting?
Think about the lifestyle of your clients and
what times of day they consume content. Post at
that time, or experiment and see when you get
the most results and engagement. Also check
your analytics and insights. These metrics will
reveal so much about your audience and help
you make more strategic posting decisions. See
what is working and then rinse and repeat.

How often should I post?
Consistency is key here. It’s reported that
the number of times someone will need to
encounter your brand to remember and trust
you is 5-7 times. That’s why it’s so important to
not only have a schedule, but to stick with that
schedule.
I personally think you should be posting on a
daily or every-other-day basis. This will keep
you seen, heard, and top of mind. That doesn’t
mean you need to only share on one single
platform. There are several marketing channels
that you can use to deliver your message like
Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter.
You can mix it up, but remember to focus on
where your audience is hanging out. For my
business, I like to do a combination of different
platforms. My posting mix is daily on Instagram,
4-5 times a week on Facebook, one blog post
a week and one newsletter a month.
What images should I post?
Select visuals that best represent your brand
story and that resonate with your particular
audience. Keep in mind the stories we
discussed from the Photos that Tell, Then Sell
sections. Look at the images you already have
(both professional and DIY). Feel free to create
your own photo content with your camera or
even your smartphone.
The truth? The image won’t make or break
your content! (Did I just say that??) It’s your
caption that will lead — the visual is there for
support. It should obviously make sense, be of
good photo quality (no dark and blurry visuals
please), and align with your brand aesthetic.
Even consider video along with your photo
content. Beyond those guidelines, the content
of the post and the way it creates a connection
is the most important element!

NOW THAT YOU HAVE SOME
OF THE CONTENT BASICS
DOWN, THIS IS HOW I
RECOMMEND PLANNING
YOUR CONTENT. AT THE
BEGINNING OF EVERY
MONTH, GET OUT YOUR
CONTENT CALENDAR AND
START MARKING IT UP WITH
THE FOLLOWING :
1. Look at the month ahead and write
down any existing business activities
that you want to share with your
audience.
This can include launches, meetings, conferences,
podcasts, press, announcements, blog posts, etc.
This is all good content to keep you visible with your
audience. Also plug in any relevant holidays.
2. Fill in the other days with themes
from the story bank.
Think strategically of ideas that can help lead into
the existing business activities from #1. For example,
if you have an upcoming workshop plugged into
your calendar, you may want to share a behind-the-
scenes post of you working on the content a few days
before. You can even share a small lesson or tip that
is relevant to the workshop material.
3. Think about the platforms that will
pair best with the content ideas.
(i.e., Facebook, Facebook Live, Instagram, email, etc.)
Consider the places your audience frequents and
where you enjoy engaging. Plug those channels into
your plan.
4. Be sure to mix up the categories and
channels.
Don't post the same type of content over and over
(i.e., don't post two inspirational quotes in a row on
Instagram). This is especially true for promotions and
product/service-centric posts. Reference the cheat
sheet of prompts to keep your content varied.
10. WWW.MIKIFOTO.COMB R A N D C O N F I D E N T I A L | 1 0
5. Always have your customer in
mind!
Your content is meant for them. How can
you deliver the most value and be of
service? How can you position yourself
as the guide for them to achieve the best
results?
6. Review the images you have
in your brand library and on
your smartphone.
Pull visuals that go well with the content
ideas. Remember the photo doesn’t have to
be too literal. The caption is the lead.
7. Are you finding some gaps
when it comes to visual content?
Make a list of images that you still need to
take. Keep your eyes open while you are
out and about and start building your DIY
photo bank. If you're ready, start planning
to hire a professional brand photographer.
8. Gather your images in a
folder like Google or Dropbox
that's easy to access.
Label as headshots, stock photos, working
girl, passion portrait, lifestyle lens, future
forecast. This will keep you organized and
help with your posting plan.
9. Schedule your content ahead
of time.
Consider using apps like Planoly. Hootsuite,
Later, Buffer or Plann. In full discrepancy,
when it comes to Instagram, I am an organic
poster. I know the themes ahead of time
but post manually on a daily basis. Do what
works best for you. Do what will keep you
consistently posting.
10. At the end of each month,
review your insights and
analytics.
Dig into these metrics. Instagram and
Facebook will offer you more information on
your audience demographics, the optimal
times for you to post, and your leading
posts for engagement and website clicks.
Use this intel to see what's working well
and what isn't. Implement the findings when
planning next month's content.
You now have the tools to amp up
your brand visibility. Your story
has never felt so easy to share to the
world (check out the cheat sheet of
content prompts on the next page
to keep your daily dialogue going).
You're on your way to getting noticed
for your expertise and leadership.
You're on the fast track to business
growth. It’s time to become the get-
noticed brand you were meant to be!
Who’s ready to amp up visibility?

STORY PROMPT BONUS
Are you ready for a visibility challenge?
The best way to put yourself out there
is to dive in head first. Post 5 days in a
row and share the branding work we've
already done together. First, pick a start
date. Then, choose a time and stick
to it as you'll be posting everyday at
that time. Next, choose your platform
(Facebook, Instagram, blog, etc). Last,
select your medium : video, photos or a
combination of both. Here is the content
plan:
Day 1 - Introduce yourself and your
vision. Why do you do this work?
Day 2 - Introduce yourself and
describe your ideal client. Who do you
serve best?
Day 3 - Introduce yourself and identify
your expertise. What is your genius?
Day 4 - Introduce yourself and define
your special sauce. How are you
