Jacob dreamed of ladder leading into heaven with angels ascending and descending. This PowerPoint lesson focuses on the significance of Jacob's Dream. Free PowerPoint Download at www.BibleGuy.org
Jacob has a dream of a ladder connecting heaven and earth with angels ascending and descending. God appears and promises Jacob the land and numerous descendants, and that He will be with Jacob and bring him back. When Jacob awakes, he is afraid yet also in awe, realizing this is the house of God. He sets up the stone as a pillar, names the place Bethel, and makes a vow that if God will be with him, God will be his God. The document analyzes the dream and God's covenant with Jacob, comparing Jesus to the ladder that connects man to God, and urges responding to God's grace with faith, fear of God, worship, offerings, and consecration.
The document provides materials for a Bible study on the Solemnity of Christ the King, including commentary on the readings. The first reading from 2 Samuel describes how the tribes of Israel came to David in Hebron and anointed him as their king. The responsorial psalm expresses joy in going to the house of the Lord in Jerusalem. The second reading from Colossians emphasizes Christ's primacy and preeminence over all creation as the image of God. The gospel reading recounts the two criminals crucified alongside Jesus, with one showing faith by asking Jesus to remember him in paradise.
The document summarizes key points about revival from Isaiah 64. It discusses three facts about revival: 1) Revival is experiencing the powerful presence of God among His people again; 2) Revival looks like mountains being shaken up and fire burning as God's presence refines and judges sin; 3) Revival brings a sense of fear of God. It also outlines three things that can be done to hasten revival: fervent prayer, waking ourselves up through spiritual discipline, and laying hold of God through continued seeking and commitment even when not feeling it. The overall message is a plea for God to once again powerfully manifest His presence among His people through revival.
Barak utilized three key strategies for success against his enemies:
1) He went to Bethel, the place of worship, to spiritually prepare before facing his enemies.
2) He responded when Deborah, his spiritual leader, called him and sought her counsel.
3) He requested that Deborah accompany him into battle, recognizing the importance of having his spiritual leader's presence and support for victory.
This document contains a summary of a sermon given at Faithworks Christian Church Global on June 18, 2017. The sermon discusses four ways that God is involved in the home according to Psalm 127: building the house by providing a strong foundation, guarding the house from external and internal threats, providing for the house's needs, and giving children as a heritage. The sermon emphasizes that strong family lives begin with strong marriages, and that teaching children wisdom, respect, and to honor God with their bodies allows them to grow mentally, physically, spiritually and socially.
Part 3 in Sermon Series on The Disciples' Prayer aka "The Lord's Prayer" In this phrase "Hallowed Be Thy Name" we express how much we Love God. It forces us to re-focus on God our Father who loves us and wants us to connect with Him in prayer.

The document introduces Cross-Road Mobile Schools, which are described as mobile discipleship and church leadership training programs. The schools aim to empower people in Christ by providing spirit-filled training that can be accessed conveniently wherever people are located. The curriculum is designed to meet challenges in the modern age and train missionaries, pastors, evangelists, prophets and church leaders with tested biblical teachings common to West Africans. The mobile approach aims to curb the issue of tight schedules preventing people from accessing leadership training.
Literally speaking, an Ebenezer is a "stone of help," or a reminder of God’s Real, Holy Presence and Divine aid.
Spiritually and theologically speaking, an Ebenezer can be nearly anything that reminds us of God’s presence and help: Those things which serve as reminders of God’s love, His Goodness, God’s real Presence, and God’s assistance are "Ebenezers.“ or ‘Help Monument’.
The document discusses the shared spiritual ancestry of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam through Abraham. It explores how each religion refers to Abraham differently but reveres him. It then examines some key messages and lessons embodied by Abraham that are shared across the Abrahamic faiths, such as abandoning meaningless traditions, verifying faith through observation, submitting to God's will, showing steadfastness and compassion, and promoting unity.
Ezra led Jews from Babylon back to Jerusalem around 458 BC. He proclaimed a fast for the travelers to humble themselves before God and seek protection. It took four months to travel the 900 miles, arriving safely due to God's gracious hand. Ezra had set his heart to study and obey God's law in order to teach it to others.
March Discovery Land meeting agenda powerpointmekimber2
The document discusses plans for a children's ministry program called Discovery Land. It provides examples of lesson formats focusing on hands-on, multi-sensory activities to help children learn. It also outlines plans for upcoming Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday services, including ordering palm branches and organizing an Easter egg hunt. The goal is to help more children grow in their faith in Christ and for the ministry to meet its membership growth target.
This document provides the order of service for Highlands United Presbyterian Church on July 8, 2012. It includes details such as the opening call to worship, hymns, scripture readings, prayers, and a sermon titled "Home and Away". The service celebrates the 6th Sunday of Pentecost and focuses on proclaiming God's mighty acts and mercy.
God has many names in the Bible that reveal aspects of his nature, character, and relationship with humanity. The names include Elohim, which refers to God's power and majesty, YHWH or Jehovah, which is God's covenant name and represents his holiness, provision, and redemption, and Adonai meaning "Lord" speaking of God's authority over humanity. Christians also refer to Jesus by many names that highlight his roles such as the Good Shepherd, King of Kings, and Son of God. Believers should honor God by thoughtfully using his names in worship, prayer and living in a way that represents his character.
The document provides guidance for people who need to "cross over" from their current situation into a promised land of blessings. It explains that the Israelites crossed the Jordan River when the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant led the way. Similarly, believers must fix their eyes on God's word and grace, sanctify themselves, and have faith to cross over the obstacles in their lives and enter a land of blessing.
The document summarizes a sermon given at First Baptist Church about stone memorials mentioned in the Book of Joshua that the Israelites built to remember God's faithfulness. It describes 7 specific stone monuments erected by Joshua to commemorate events where God helped the Israelites conquer the Promised Land, such as crossing the Jordan River and defeating the armies of Jericho and Ai. The memorials served as physical reminders for future generations of God's mighty acts and his expectation for the Israelites to obey his commands.
The document summarizes a Bible story where Elisha, a prophet of God, shows God's love in several ways. He heals Naaman, a commander in the Aramean army, of leprosy. Elisha also uses his prophetic powers to protect himself from Aramean soldiers sent to capture him and convinces the Israelite king to show mercy to the soldiers. The story teaches that God loves and cares for all people.
The document provides an overview of the biblical book of Isaiah, including its structure, authorship, historical context, and key themes. It notes that Isaiah is considered one of the greatest books of the Old Testament. The book contains messages of both condemnation of sin and promises of future consolation. It falls into two major sections addressing judgment and redemption. Key events during Isaiah's prophetic ministry involved the Assyrian invasion during the time of King Hezekiah. The Dead Sea Scrolls helped confirm the reliability of the text of Isaiah.
God created humans to be in friendship with Him but when Adam and Eve sinned, humanity lost grace and was born in a state of sin. To solve this problem, God promised to send a Savior. God shows His mercy by giving humanity hope. Jesus was the fulfillment of this promise made by God to save humanity from sin and reconcile people with God. By dying on the cross, Jesus restored friendship between God and humanity and fulfilled the Father's plan for people to share in His divine life for eternity. However, the story is not over as the graces Jesus won must be given to people, which is the work of the Holy Spirit.
The document discusses Jephthah, who was cast out by his half-brothers but became a leader of men. When the Ammonites made war against Israel, the elders sought out Jephthah for help and asked him to be their leader. The summary emphasizes that God can bring about his will through difficult circumstances and that true submission to Jesus Christ as Lord means obeying him fully and trusting in his deliverance, salvation, and eternal life.
The document summarizes a Bible story about King Hezekiah of Judah. When Hezekiah became king, he repaired the Temple and invited people to celebrate Passover. The people destroyed idols and worshipped only God. Later, Hezekiah became proud but realized this and asked God for forgiveness. God brought peaceful times again during Hezekiah's rule. The document provides discussion questions and songs related to the story.
In Part-1 of this series on the life of Abraham, we consider Abraham's life and some insights on how God calls us, and how we are people of faith journey into seeing His call fulfilled on our lives.

The Book of Judges describes a cycle in which the Israelites would sin and turn away from God, leading to oppression by neighboring groups. God would then raise up judges to deliver the Israelites from their oppressors and lead them back to righteousness. This cycle reflected the Israelites' struggle between faithfulness and backsliding. The first judge was from the tribe of Judah, reflecting that God dwells in praise and the Israelites needed to praise God to enjoy his presence and see him move on their behalf.

The document discusses how the gospel can be articulated as "entering God's rest." It explores what is meant by rest in scripture from Genesis to Revelation. God's rest is not laziness, busyness, or a sense of accomplishment, but finding peace through trusting in God alone rather than one's own works. Jesus invites all who are weary to find rest in him as our Sabbath rest was meant to foreshadow.

The document compares the biblical stories of Babel and Pentecost. It summarizes that at Babel, people acted in pride and arrogance to build a tower without God. In response, God confused their languages and scattered them. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit united people of different languages and allowed them to understand the gospel, gathering nations to announce the good news of Jesus Christ. While Babel brought confusion, Pentecost brought peace and the foundation of the church.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

2. The “Shema” ( ) is
packed full of meaning and depth.
No wonder Jesus quotes it in regard to the
greatest command!
In this lesson we consider God speaking and
whether or not we are listening (i.e., obeying).
3. The famous Eddystone lighthouse off the coast
of Cornwall, England, was first built in a fanciful
way, by the learned and eccentric Winstanley.
On its sides he put various boastful
inscriptions. He was very proud of his structure,
and from his lofty balcony used boldly to defy
the storm, crying, "Blow, O winds! Rise, O
ocean! Break forth, ye elements, and try my
work!" But one fearful night the sea swallowed
up the tower and its builder.
4. The lighthouse was built a second time of wood
and stone by Rudyard. The form was good, but
the wood gave hold for the elements and the
builder and his structure perished in the flames.
Next the great Smeaton was called. He raised a
cone from the solid rock upon which it was
built, and riveted it to the rock; as the oak is
fastened to the earth by its roots.
5. From the rock of the foundation he took the
rock of the superstructure. He carved upon it no
boastful inscription like those of Winstanley, but
on its lower course he put, "Except the Lord
build the house, they labor in vain that build it;"
and its keystone, above the lantern, the simple
tribute, "Laus Deo!“ (praise (be) to God) and the
structure still stands, holding its beacon light to
storm-tossed mariners.
6. Several lessons can be gleaned from this
lighthouse.
God, through his Son is the hope of the world
and He must be declared!
Taking the word of God for our foundation, let
us build our structure upon its massive, solid
truth, and on every course put Smeaton's
humble inscription, and then we may be sure
that the lighthouse will stand.
7. Jesus was asked the greatest command ( )
and he responded with the Hebrew declaration of
God from
NIV One of the teachers of the law
came and heard them debating. Noticing that
Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked
him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most
important?"
answered Jesus,
8. NIV Hear, O Israel: The LORD
our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your
God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your strength. These commandments
that I give you today are to be on your hearts.
Impress them on your children. Talk about them
when you sit at home and when you walk along
the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind
them on your foreheads. Write them on the
doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
9. Focus on the uniqueness of God alone.
This is the key to real success.
NOT the trappings of success in the "stuff" we
accumulate to appear successful.
Consider two key questions:
God is Speaking,
Are We Listening?
10. At and Through Creation
NIV And God said, "Let there be
light," and there was light.
NIV For since the creation of the
world God's invisible qualities—his eternal
power and divine nature—have been clearly
seen, being understood from what has been
made, so that people are without excuse.
11. At Sinai
God spoke to & through Moses giving the law to
Israel.
NIV The LORD said to Moses,
"Come up to me on the mountain and stay here,
and I will give you the tablets of stone with the
law and commandments I have written for their
instruction."
12. Through His Son
NIV In the past God spoke to our
ancestors through the prophets at many times
and in various ways, but in these last days he
has spoken to us by his Son, whom he
appointed heir of all things, and through whom
also he made the universe.
13. By his word, God is Speaking Clearly
Hear, to hear intelligently (Strongs)
To hear, listen to, obey (BDB)
ONE, 1 & only, not "Other" or "Another
Clarity produces Loyalty to the LORD, our God.
Are We Hearing?
Elijah at Mt. Horeb --
14. NIV The LORD said, "Go out and stand
on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the
LORD is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful
wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks
before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind.
After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD
was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake
came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after
the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it,
he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and
stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to
him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
15. We are to have Ears to Hear.
NIV
Not Hearing:
NIV And though the LORD has
sent all his servants the prophets to you again
and again, you have not listened or paid any
attention. They said, "Turn now, each of you,
from your evil ways and your evil practices, and
you can stay in the land the LORD gave to you
and your ancestors for ever and ever.
16. Understanding that Leads to Obedience.
NIV He replied,
The day is coming.
NIV The LORD will be king over
the whole earth. On that day there will be one
LORD, and his name the only name.
17. Loving God is Intentional
More than emotion, intentional action
A full commitment to Him
= Thoughts+Feelings, Emotion
= Life -- willing to give up life for God/to
God
= conscience dedication to obey/serve
= All our Ability, Force, Might, Power
18. Example of Josiah
NIV Neither before nor after
Josiah was there a king like him who turned to
the LORD as he did—with all his heart and with
all his soul and with all his strength, in
accordance with all the Law of Moses.
Loving God is Internal (in Effort)
Internal Effort to love at ALL times, good or bad
Prosperity is harder
19. NIV When the LORD your
God brings you into the land he swore to your
fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give
you—a land with large, flourishing cities you did
not build, houses filled with all kinds of good
things you did not provide, wells you did not
dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not
plant—then when you eat and are satisfied,
be careful that you do not forget the LORD, who
brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of
slavery.
20. NIV When you have eaten
and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for
the good land he has given you.
21. In a speech made in 1863, Abraham Lincoln
said, "We have been the recipients of the
choicest bounties of heaven; we have been
preserved these many years in peace and
prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth,
and power as no other nation has ever grown.
But we have forgotten God.
22. We have forgotten the gracious hand which
preserved us in peace and multiplied and
enriched and strengthened us, and we have
vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our
hearts, that all these blessings were produced
by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own.
Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have
become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity
of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud
to pray to the God that made us."
23. Loving God is Inspirational
Promise as well as a Command
May not fully love God right now,
Don't quit, believe the promise.
We can get sidetracked in tradition or even in
the actions we declare to God and miss the
point.
24. When the congregation of an old eastern European
synagogue recited the Shema prayer (
), half the congregation stood up and the other half
remained seated. The half that was seated started
yelling at those standing to sit down, and the ones
standing yelled at the ones sitting to stand up.
The rabbi, learned as he was in the Law and
commentaries, didn't know what to do.
His congregation suggested that he consult a
housebound 98-year-old man, who was one of the
original founders of their temple.
25. The rabbi hoped the elderly man would be able
to tell him what the actual temple tradition was,
so he went to the nursing home with a
representative of each faction of the
congregation. The one whose followers stood
during Shema said to the old man, "Is the
tradition to stand during this prayer?" The old
man answered, "No, that is not our tradition."
26. The one whose followers sat asked, "Is the
tradition to sit during Shema?" The old man
answered, "No, that is not our tradition."
Then the rabbi said to the old man, "Please help
us! The congregants fight all the time, yelling at
each other about whether they should sit or
stand." The old man interrupted, exclaiming,
"THAT is our tradition!"
27. Things to keep in mind:
This is a declaration of the ONE God.
Mystery of the Godhead
3-N-1?
One of my favorite illustrations is an egg. There
are 3 distinct parts that are found in an egg.
Yolk+White+Shell. If one of these is missing
there is no functional egg! It takes all 3!
28. This is a declaration of intent to carry out the
words of God.
Something NOT said -- “You shall love the
worship activities of God.”
It says to LOVE GOD.
Loving God is relational -- God has always
wanted relationship with us.
29. The reason Jesus came was to teach/show us
how to walk with the Father; and prepare the
way for us to follow
Stand and read Deuteronomy 6:4-9 together
NIV Hear, O Israel: The LORD
our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD
your God with all your heart and with all your
soul and with all your strength.
30. These commandments that I give you today
are to be on your hearts. Impress them on
your children. Talk about them when you sit at
home and when you walk along the road, when
you lie down and when you get up. Tie them
as symbols on your hands and bind them on
your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes
of your houses and on your gates.
