4. Definitions
Prayer - is to converse with
God; the interaction of the soul
with God, not in contemplation
or meditation, but in direct
address to him. Prayer may be
oral or mental, occasional or
constant.

5. Definitions
Fasting - is from the Hebrew
word sum, meaning "to cover"
the mouth, or from the Greek
word nesteuo , meaning "to
abstain." For spiritual purposes,
it means to go without eating
and drinking.

David – Ps. 35:13; 2Sam. 12:16
Elijah – 1Kings 19:5-8
Daniel – Dan. 9:3; 10:2,3
