1) Moses is told by God that he will not enter the Promised Land due to his sin of striking the rock, and is instead shown the land from Mount Nebo before dying.
2) Moses asks God to appoint a new leader to guide the Israelites, and God chooses Joshua to succeed Moses.
3) Joshua is commissioned before the priest Eleazar and the congregation, with Moses laying hands on him and inaugurating him as the new leader, as God commanded.
God told Moses to view the Promised Land from Mount Nebo before dying, as he was not allowed to enter due to disobeying God. Moses asked God to appoint a new leader for Israel. God chose Joshua and had Moses commission him before Eleazar and the congregation by laying hands on him and transferring some of his authority.

This document discusses the identity of Jesus. It examines common beliefs that Jesus was merely a good man, prophet, or sub-god. However, it concludes that Jesus is fully God based on several facts: Jesus created all things; the Father calls Jesus God and Lord; Jesus is the God who spoke to people in the Old Testament; and Jesus' words and actions in the New Testament show He claimed to be God.
Jacob has a dream of a ladder connecting heaven and earth with angels ascending and descending. God appears and promises Jacob the land and numerous descendants, and that He will be with Jacob and bring him back. When Jacob awakes, he is afraid yet also in awe, realizing this is the house of God. He sets up the stone as a pillar, names the place Bethel, and makes a vow that if God will be with him, God will be his God. The document analyzes the dream and God's covenant with Jacob, comparing Jesus to the ladder that connects man to God, and urges responding to God's grace with faith, fear of God, worship, offerings, and consecration.
God prepares the coming of jesus lesson # 6 EmanuelEstrada
God had been preparing the world for the coming of Jesus over many centuries through covenants and prophets in the Old Testament. Jesus fulfilled these prophecies by being the promised Messiah who established a New Covenant through his body and blood, providing salvation for all people. This New Covenant, foretold by prophets like Isaiah, would be eternal and enable God's people to truly keep his commandments through the grace Jesus offers.
Jesus is God, not merely a good man, prophet, or lesser deity. He created all things, existed eternally as the Word with God, and became flesh through his incarnation. References throughout the Old and New Testaments identify Jesus as the God who spoke to Moses, protected Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, and is Creator, Redeemer, and Lord over all time. The document examines passages to support that Jesus is the one true God and should be worshipped as such.
Jesus was uniquely born without sin through the power of the Holy Spirit. Though he took on a physical human form, he did not have a sinful human nature. At his baptism, God declared his pleasure in Jesus as his beloved son. Later, Jesus resisted Satan's three temptations in the wilderness by quoting scripture, remaining sinless unlike Adam.
This document outlines ways for a church to experience growth and multiplication in the new year. It emphasizes developing a passion for evangelism like Jesus had for lost souls. Prayer should be a daily lifestyle. Seeking God's presence brings benefits like peace, protection and power. Five aspects of Jesus' resurrection demonstrate God's great power for believers: 1) Raising Jesus from death; 2) Seating Jesus at His right hand; 3) Setting Jesus over demonic powers; 4) Making Jesus head of the church; 5) Where God rules, believers will rule. The year is proclaimed as one of growth, increase and fulfillment of dreams.

Journey Through The Bible: Isaiah Part 2 - The Messianic propheciesResurrection Church
The Book of Isaiah contains some of the most detailed and revealing prophecies about Jesus. God reveals to Isaiah that the Messiah will come first as a servant who will die for the sins of the people and will come again to rule the world.
Isaiah lived 600 years before Jesus was born and all of the predictions about the first coming of the Messiah were fulfilled exactly by Jesus.
Zechariah was a prophet in Jerusalem after the exile who encouraged the people to rebuild the temple. He emphasized that God uses prophets to teach and correct His people, and that disobedience brings punishment, while obedience brings blessing. Zechariah's visions foretold a future messianic king and salvation available to all nations through God's mercy. The book conveys messages of hope, joy in God's redemption, and trusting God even in difficult times.
The UN has recognized Yom Kippur as an official UN holiday. Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is now added to the list of 11 official UN holidays which include Christmas, Eid al-Fitr, Thanksgiving, and others. No meetings will be held and Jewish employees can observe the holiday without using vacation days. The Israeli ambassador called it the holiest day for Jews and said the UN should have recognized it earlier. Last year 32 countries signed a letter calling for its recognition. Israeli cooperation with the US helped pass the resolution despite opposition from some other UN members. The recognition of Yom Kippur shows the value of justice found in Jewish tradition being recognized globally.
WHO ARE YOU? Can your SOUL DIE? What is MANKINDS' Hope after DEATH?Linus Daniel
One of the most important doctrines of the New Testament scriptures is the Hope of Resurrection. We will consider biblical answers to many interesting question such as: If we automatically go to heaven or hell at death, what is significance of the resurrection and judgment? What will life be like for people on earth after resurrection is passed?, etc.

Pastor Elio Marrocco's "The Doctrine of Christ" sermon at New Life Christian Church on July 6, 2014. You can learn more about New Life Christian Church here: http://www.newlifecc.ca
Jesus Christ is the only way for humanity to be saved from their spiritually dead state resulting from the sin of Adam and Eve. Without accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior, people feel empty inside despite worldly successes. The Bible says all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory, but Jesus died for our sins so we can be forgiven and born again by accepting him. True salvation comes only through believing in Jesus, as he is the sole mediator between God and man.
The document provides an overview and analysis of Numbers 21:4-9 and John 3:1-17. It summarizes that:
1) Numbers 21 describes God sending fiery serpents to punish the Israelites for complaining, and commanding Moses to lift up a bronze serpent so those who looked at it would live;
2) Jesus references this story in teaching Nicodemus about being "born again" through believing in the Son of Man being lifted up, just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness;
3) Jesus' crucifixion fulfills this symbolism, as He was lifted up so that all who believe in Him will have eternal life and be saved from the penalty

Gospel of Mark: Glory - The Transfiguration Pacific Church
Jesus took Peter, James, and John up a mountain where he was transfigured before them. His clothes became dazzling white and Elijah and Moses appeared and spoke with Jesus. A cloud enveloped them and a voice from the cloud said "This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!" Jesus gave orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until after his resurrection and later healed a boy with an evil spirit when the disciples could not.
This document discusses the seven spirits of God mentioned in Isaiah 11:2. It focuses on explaining the spirits of the Lord, wisdom, and understanding. It then provides definitions and biblical examples of the spirit of counsel, highlighting how counsel provides strategies, guidance, confirmation, and direction from God. The spirit of counsel is said to have instructed individuals like Isaac and Paul. Activating this spirit involves being connected to God rather than relying on other people's counsel and having faith even when God's counsel seems illogical. The next session will cover the spirit of might.
Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10. Sometimes we need to slow down to gain knowledge of who God is. We must free ourselves from distraction. Only then can we have the quality existence God wants us to have.
This chapter introduces the book of Revelation and provides context for the revelations that will be shared. It describes Revelation as a revelation from Jesus Christ about things that must soon take place. It is addressed to the seven churches of Asia and encourages the reader to heed the words, for those who do will be blessed. Key details are provided about Jesus, including his role as the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and ruler over kings. He is described as coming again in the clouds, and his identity as the Alpha and Omega is noted. The writer, John, was exiled on the island of Patmos when he received this revelation from Jesus Christ.
The document discusses what the book of Revelation reveals about Jesus Christ. It summarizes that Revelation depicts Jesus by over 37 names and titles, describes his appearance, and reveals that he was slain as the Lamb to redeem humanity and wash them of their sins. It also discusses prophecies that foretold Jesus would appear after 483 years to preach and be crucified as the Messiah.
This document discusses lessons that can be learned from nature. It notes that nature provides evidence of God's existence and that Jesus used nature like seeds and plants to teach about the kingdom of God. It also says there are spiritual lessons from natural things like the sun, stars, rock, and grass. The document encourages walking straight paths rather than crooked ones, noting we will face resistance, and provides examples of people who took crooked or straight paths. It emphasizes remembering God's word to overcome obstacles.

1. How does the revelation of the Father impact your life?
2. How would you describe a good Father??
3. How would you respond to His goodness?
1. Jesus uses the story of the bronze serpent from Numbers 21 to teach Nicodemus about salvation. As the Israelites were saved by looking at the serpent on the pole, so people are saved by believing in Jesus who was lifted up on the cross.
2. Anyone who believes in Jesus will not perish but have eternal life, just as the Israelites who looked at the serpent lived. Belief requires a spiritual transformation or new birth.
3. Jesus is referring to himself as the Son of Man who was lifted up to save all those who believe in him, in the same way the Israelites were saved by gazing at the bronze serpent.

This message is Part 1 of the message series "I AM" by Pastor Chuck Bernal. In this message titled, "Jesus The Great I AM", Pastor Chuck discusses the claim that Jesus made to be "I AM". By going back to the story of Moses and the burning bush, he gives the meaning of the name "I AM" and how it was used in Scripture to describe God and how it is also used to describe Jesus - because Jesus is indeed God.
This message was delivered at LifePointe Church in Crowley, TX on Sunday, February 12, 2017.
The slides for the fourth teaching in the "Growing Deep in the Gospel" series. In this study we answer the question "What is the Plan of Salvation?" by focusing on Jesus and answering three other questions: Why do we need Jesus?, What did Jesus do for us? and How do we receive salvation through Jesus?.
God calls Moses from a burning bush that was not being consumed by fire to deliver the Israelites from Egyptian slavery. Moses offers several excuses for why he cannot take on this task, including that he is not eloquent. God reassures Moses that He will be with him and provides signs for Moses to perform to demonstrate his authority. God also tells Moses that his brother Aaron will assist him by speaking for him to the Pharaoh and the Israelites.

This passage from Isaiah 58 discusses God's condemnation of empty worship rituals among his people that are not accompanied by righteous living and care for the oppressed. God explains that true worship requires loosening bonds of wickedness, sharing with the hungry, and clothing the naked. The prophet Isaiah lived during a time of rebuilding after the exile when the temple had been reconstructed but the city walls remained in ruins. God promises blessings of light, guidance, strength, and renewal for those who repent from sin and pursue justice. The sermon references other passages emphasizing that God desires mercy over sacrifice and that true salvation will come through God himself acting as righteous judge and redeemer through the coming Messiah.
This document provides a summary and analysis of Isaiah 58:1-12. It examines God's condemnation of hypocritical worship among his people, who were going through the motions of fasting and prayer but without true repentance or care for the oppressed. God explains that true worship requires acts of justice, mercy, and humility. The document places this passage in historical context during the post-exilic period when the temple had been rebuilt but Jerusalem's walls remained in disrepair. It concludes by connecting Isaiah's prophecy to the ultimate salvation God provides through Jesus Christ.
1) The document discusses Isaiah 53, which prophesies the coming of Jesus as the suffering servant who would bear the sins of humanity.
2) It analyzes various verses from Isaiah 53 that describe Jesus' humble upbringing, rejection, suffering, and death on the cross in fulfillment of these prophecies.
3) The author argues that the chapter paints a clear picture of Jesus and his redemptive work, though some Jewish people did not accept that it referred to him.
This document provides an analysis and commentary on Isaiah 53:1-12. It discusses how this passage prophesies Jesus as the suffering servant who would bear the sins of humanity. Some key points made include: Jewish people historically did not believe Isaiah 53 referred to Jesus as they were expecting a conquering messiah; the passage depicts the servant as having no beauty or majesty and being despised and rejected; it describes how he would bear our sorrows and be wounded for our transgressions so that through his suffering we can be healed. The document analyzes various verses in depth to draw connections between the prophecy and Jesus' life and crucifixion.
The document provides an overview and analysis of Isaiah 49:1-13. It summarizes that:
1) The passage promises comfort for God's people and the coming of a Messiah who will be a servant and bring salvation to all nations.
2) Jesus fulfills the prophecies as the suffering servant who is called and named by God from birth to be a light to the Gentiles.
3) The passage prophesies that the servant will be rejected but later worshipped, establish a new covenant, and guide God's people to salvation.
1) The document provides an overview and analysis of Isaiah 49:1-13 from a Sunday school lesson. It examines how this passage prophesies comfort for God's people through a coming servant Messiah and how Jesus fulfills this prophecy.

3) The document analyzes how Jesus fulfills this prophecy by being God's chosen servant who is rejected by men but brings salvation, being made a light to the Gentiles and worshipped by all through his death and resurrection.
This document contains the summary of a sermon given at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi. It discusses Isaiah 46:3-13, focusing on God's care for his people and how he alone is worthy of worship unlike idols. It includes quotes from the Bible passage and hymns like "His Eye is on the Sparrow" to illustrate the theme that God watches over and protects believers.
This document provides a summary of a Sunday school class discussion on putting God first in all things and trusting in His care. It includes summaries of Bible passages from Isaiah, Psalms, and Matthew discussing not worshipping idols and trusting that God watches over His people. The hymn "His Eye is on the Sparrow" is analyzed, inspired by verses on God caring for even sparrows. The class discussed how tragedies can humble us and that God saves those who recognize their need.
God instructs Isaiah to comfort God's people with three messages: 1) God is sovereign and in control, even during difficult times. 2) God will fulfill his purposes, such as forgiving Israel and sending a Redeemer. 3) God will sustain his people, though all humanity is transitory except God's eternal word. The prophecy looks forward to Israel's restoration after the coming exile.
The document provides an overview of a Sunday school lesson on Isaiah 40. It discusses the historical context during Isaiah's time, the message of comfort God instructed Isaiah to provide to Judah facing exile, and how this message still applies today. The lesson focuses on how Isaiah conveyed that God is sovereign, will fulfill his purposes, and sustain his people. It also provides biblical references on God's comfort and plan of salvation through Jesus Christ.
The document provides an overview and summary of Isaiah 34-39 from a sermon given at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi. It discusses the historical context involving King Hezekiah of Judah rebelling against Assyria, the confrontation with Rabshakeh representing Sennacherib, Hezekiah's prayer to God, and God's response promising to defend Jerusalem for his own sake and for David. Key themes are God hearing and answering prayer, defeating the enemies of his people, and bringing hope and salvation.
The document provides a summary of Isaiah 34-39 from a Sunday School class. It discusses the historical context involving King Hezekiah of Judah rebelling against the Assyrian king Sennacherib in 701 BC. It describes the Rabshakeh threatening Jerusalem on behalf of Sennacherib, and Hezekiah praying to God for deliverance. God responds through Isaiah, promising to deliver Jerusalem and put a spirit in Sennacherib so he returns to his own land.
Isaiah 31 discusses God's promise to protect Israel and Judah if they trust in Him rather than forming alliances with other nations like Egypt. It warns that those who seek protection from Egypt will be put to shame, as the Egyptians are merely mortal while God is all-powerful. The chapter promises that God will come down to defend Jerusalem from Assyria, represented as a lion, and will shield and deliver His people. It calls the Israelites to repent and return to God to receive His protection.
The document provides an overview and analysis of Isaiah 31. It summarizes that the chapter warns Israel and Judah against forming an alliance with Egypt and relying on Egyptian horses and chariots for protection against Assyria. While Egypt can provide military strength, God promises to protect Jerusalem himself. The chapter exhorts the people to repent from idolatry and return to trusting God for their defense. It prophesies that Assyria will fall not by human hands but by the sword of God in response to their threats against Judah.
God will judge the earth and its inhabitants for their sins and breaking God's covenant. This judgement is described in Isaiah 24-27 and referred to as Isaiah's Apocalypse. However, God also has a plan for salvation and will deliver the remnant of people from the ends of the earth who worship him. Ultimately, God will reign eternally in Jerusalem and provide salvation for all people through his son Jesus Christ.
God will judge the earth and its inhabitants for their sin and breaking of His covenant. Isaiah 24-27 discusses this coming judgement, including how God will devastate the earth and punish both earthly kings and the hosts of heaven. However, it also promises ultimate salvation and a banquet for all people on God's holy mountain when He defeats death. The passage encourages believers that though judgement is coming, God has a plan for hope and salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
This document provides a summary and analysis of Isaiah 23:1-18. It discusses Tyre's historical relationship with Israel as an important Phoenician seaport city. God prophesied Tyre's destruction through Nebuchadnezzar and Alexander the Great because of the city's pride. The prophecy warns that no place, including Cyprus, will provide rest for Tyre's inhabitants. It also foretells that Tyre will be forgotten for 70 years but trade will slowly resume. The document applies lessons about God's sovereignty over nations and his hatred of pride.
The document provides commentary on Isaiah 23, which prophesies the destruction of the Phoenician city of Tyre. It discusses Tyre's history and relationship with Israel, highlighting its pride and role in commerce and idolatry. The commentary explains how Tyre was destroyed multiple times according to prophecies by Isaiah and Ezekiel, and applies lessons about God's sovereignty over nations.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
1. Numbers 27:12-23
God Commissions
January 5, 2020
First Baptist Church
Jackson, Mississippi
USA
What’s the number one thing?
The glory of God!
1 Corinthians 10:31 NKJV
31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of
God.
Because Moses had sinned in misrepresenting God to the people (we should be
a picture of Jesus Christ) as he struck the Rock at Meribah (Numbers 20:11), he
would not be able to enter the Promised Land.
The older we get, the more we realize that, although God is indeed gracious and
full of mercy, a Father Who is inexpressibly patient and kind, there are definite,
absolute repercussions of sin.
Proverbs 9:10 NKJV
10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
We ought to walk in the fear of God - not afraid of Him - but afraid of the
repercussions of our sin.
Deuteronomy 3:23-26 NKJV
23 “Then I (Moses) pleaded with the Lord at that time, saying: 24 ‘O Lord God, You
have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your mighty hand, for
what god is there in Heaven or on Earth who can do anything like Your works
and Your mighty deeds? 25 I pray, let me cross over and see the good land
beyond the Jordan, those pleasant mountains, and Lebanon.’
2. 26 “But the Lord was angry with me on your account and would not listen to me.
So the Lord said to me: ‘Enough of that! Speak no more to Me of this matter.’”
Deuteronomy 3:23-26 NKJV
Numbers 27:12-23 NKJV
Joshua the Next Leader of Israel
12 Now the Lord said to Moses: “Go up into this Mount Abarim (ahBARim), and
see the land which I have given to the children of Israel. 13 And when you have
seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was
gathered. 14 For in the Wilderness of Zin, during the strife of the congregation,
you rebelled against My command to hallow Me at the waters before their
eyes.” (These are the waters of Meribah (mareREEbah), at Kadesh (kahDESH) in
the Wilderness of Zin.)
15 Then Moses spoke to the Lord, saying: 16 “Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of
all flesh, set a man over the congregation, 17 who may go out before them and
go in before them, who may lead them out and bring them in, that the
congregation of the Lord may not be like sheep which have no shepherd.”
18 And the Lord said to Moses: “Take Joshua the son of Nun with you, a man in
whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him; 19 set him before Eleazar (el-E-A-
zar) the priest and before all the congregation and inaugurate him in their
sight. 20 And you shall give some of your authority to him, that all the
congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient. 21 He shall stand before
Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire before the Lord for him by the judgment of
the Urim. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, he
and all the children of Israel with him—all the congregation.”
22 So Moses did as the LORD commanded him. He took Joshua and set him
before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation. 23 And he laid his
hands on him and inaugurated him, just as the Lord commanded by the hand of
Moses.
Numbers 27:12-23 NKJV
In Numbers 27:12, we come to a sad note.
"The Lord said to Moses: 'Go up into this Mount Abarim (ahBARim - a mountain
range, it means ‘regions beyond’) and see the land that I have given to the
children of Israel'."
The surface of the Dead Sea is 1,412 ft below sea level which is Earth's lowest
elevation on land.
3. The Dead Sea is almost 1,000’ deep and it is almost 10X as salty as the ocean.
The Abarim Range, east of the Dead Sea, has a notable peak: Mount Nebo /
Mount Pisgah – from there Moses viewed the land.
It had a tremendous vantage point as he was looking down at the Dead Sea
towards a land that was slanted at him.
Most scholars believe that Mt. Pisgah is the same as Mt. Nebo.
Mt. Nebo is in Jordan and it offers a breathtaking view of the Jericho and, on a
clear day, Jerusalem.
It is not just a place to see a good view.
It is a place to remember that sometimes it takes a lifetime to accomplish our
purpose.
It is also a reminder that God keeps His promises to His children.
God took him up there to show him the land and then said, “you shall be
gathered to your people as Aaron your brother was also gathered.”
God didn't say, "Okay, Moses, look over the land---now you're going to die."
He didn't say "die."
What did He say was going to happen?
"You will be gathered to your people."
Just who were Moses’ people?
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Jacob's sons – Moses’ forefathers.
We're going to be gathered to our people some day!
There's going to be a gathering after this life of those other righteous ones who
have been with you and before you.
We would have been prone to say, “if anybody deserves to be in the land,
Moses, you're going dude. In fact, you're going to get the best piece of it.”
But God said, "You're just going to see it, but not go into it."
4. A trick question, did Moses ever get to go into the Promised Land?
Yes, he did, on the Mount of Transfiguration when in the northern part of Israel on
a high mountain Jesus was transfigured before His disciples with Moses and
Elijah, speaking about the future.
Numbers 27:15-16 NKJV
15 Then Moses spoke to the Lord, saying: 16 “Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of
all flesh, set a man over the congregation,”
The Bible says, “Moses was the meekest man on the face of the Earth.”
Moses said, “I'm concerned, they need a great leader. ‘Let the God of the spirits
of all flesh, set a man over the congregation.’"
All of you have a body of flesh but that's only part of you, that's not really the
real you.
The real you is who you are underneath the flesh, your spirit.
The real you is spirit.
You are a spirit- you have a soul- and you live in a body (the flesh).
Genesis 2:7 NKJV
7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground (body) and breathed
into his nostrils the breath of life (spirit); and man became a living being (soul).
God breathed life into Adam (Genesis 2:7).
God breathed His spirit into us, granting us life!
“Breath” is very sacred!
We take our first breath at birth and we never cease to breathe until the day we
cross over to Heaven.
Ecclesiastes 12:7 NKJV
7 Then the dust will return to the Earth as it was,
And the spirit will return to God Who gave it.
5. When we think about breath, we should remember that the Hebrew word for
spirit, Ruach, when translated literally means: “Air in motion”.
This same word Ruach for breath, also means “life”.
Job 33:4 NKJV
4 The Spirit of God has made me,
And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
‒ God is life and He is Spirit!
Megan Payne Mascagni’s funeral on December 20, 2019 had a profound effect
on many lives, especially on my life.
I told her Mom and her Dad that it was the best funeral (most impactful) that I
had ever attended and that is how you bring glory to God through your life and
through your death.
Impact:
A Muslim physician became a Christian after watching Megan depend on Jesus
while living with cancer until she was gathered to her people (Hebrews 12:1-3).
Hebrews 12:1-3 MSG
1-3 Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these
veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start
running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes
on Jesus, Who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how He did it.
Because He never lost sight of where He was headed—that exhilarating finish in
and with God—He could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame,
whatever. And now He’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When
you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item,
that long litany of hostility He plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into
your souls!
Hebrews 12:1-3 MSG
My Dad had coached Megan’s Dad, Tom Payne, at Central High School in
Jackson, MS and as I heard the godly attributes that Megan had lived out, I
recognized that she had gotten many of those strengths from her Dad – whom
my Dad had impacted!
My Dad died thirty years ago (12/26/89) at the age of 66 and he truly left a
legacy for my brother, Bob, my sister, Bebe, and me.
6. I heard a statement recently that relates a dynamic truth.
Inheritance is what we leave for people; Legacy is what we leave in people.
Even though Megan was gathered to her people at the age of 36, she has
definitely already left a legacy for Lila. Megan lived by James 1:12.
James 1:12 NASB
12 Blessed is the man (or woman) who perseveres under trial; for once he (she)
has been approved, he (she) will receive the crown of life which the Lord has
promised to those who love Him.
Megan’s uncle, Dr. Danny T. Havard, read from Ecclesiastes.
Ecclesiastes 7: 1-2 NKJV
1 A good name (legacy) is better than precious ointment,
And the day of death than the day of one’s birth;
2 Better to go to the house of mourning
Than to go to the house of feasting,
For that is the end of all men;
And the living will take it to heart.
I have taken the message of Megan’s funeral to heart.
Great Are You Lord
by All Sons & Daughters
You give hope, You restore
Every heart that is broken.
Great are You, Lord
It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only!
It’s His breath (spirit) in our lungs (body) so our soul pours out praises to Him only!
Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged
sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow
(body), and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
7. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 NKJV
23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your
whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord
Jesus Christ.
You are a triune being- body, soul, and spirit- just as God is a triune being:
Father, Son, and Spirit.
For the Spirit filled Christian:
• The Holy Spirit controls your spirit.
• Your spirit controls your soul.
• Your soul controls your body.
Your body serves your soul,
Your soul serves your spirit and
Your spirit serves God!
In an addicted person, the soul obeys the body.
Your spirit is connected to Heaven, and your body is connected to the Earth.
Your soul connects your spirit (Heaven) with your body (Earth), so that you can
live and operate in both realms.
The Son, while on the Earth, was connected to the Father in Heaven by the Holy
Spirit so that Jesus was able to operate in both realms.
The flesh, the body, is simply the avenue (the means), the apparatus by which
one spirit can relate to another spirit.
Right now, I can relate to you through your body.
• I can shake your hand.
• I can hear your words.
• I can see your eyes and your body language when you communicate.
You can tell a lot about a person by looking at their flesh.
You meet some people who won't give you eye contact or they barely shake
your hand – it feels like you have just grabbed a wet fish.
You know, you can just tell there's no confidence there.
They're kind of a little bit abated and ashamed and tenuous, tentative, and other
people are not.
8. So, the body is useful to communicate the spirit.
But one day the flesh will die and be buried, and your spirit will go be with the
Lord.
The real you will be with the essence of Who God is.
John 4:24 NKJV
24 “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
So, the body will die, and the spirit will be joined with the Lord, in the presence of
the Lord awaiting bodily resurrection, a reconstituted you!
Numbers 27:22-23 MSG
22-23 Moses followed God’s orders. He took Joshua and stood him before Eleazar
the priest in front of the entire community. He laid his hands on him and
commissioned him, following the procedures God had given Moses.
So, Joshua would bring them into the land.
Joshua is a Hebrew name.
• The 'J' is silent, like in Spanish.
• The Hebrew pronunciation of Joshua is Yeshua.
• The equivalent of that name in Greek is "Jesus".
• It's Jesus in English.
• Joshua and Jesus, it's the same name.
Isn't it interesting that Moses couldn't bring them in, but Jesus could?
John 1:17 NKJV
17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus
Christ.
What Moses failed to do, only Joshua (Jesus) could do.
This is not a coincidence, it is a portrayal: as this OT Joshua will bring them into
the land, our Joshua (Jesus) brings us into a place of rest and completion
(abundant life).
God has called you to an abundant life and He has co-missioned you.
9. Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV
19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to
observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always,
even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Are you intentionally making disciples?
Get some copies of Experiencing God and walk your children, grandchildren
and great grandchildren through it.
Based on the life of Moses, it teaches your family members how to join God
where He is already working in and around their lives.
A reviewer named Tasha gives it 5.0 out of 5 stars and says: Profound, and life
changing! I am going through this study with my children (6 children ages 1-17),
and their walk with God has improved greatly as a result.
If you are "missing" something from your relationship with God, and even if you
think your walk is good...go through this study.
If you have asked yourself even once, "Is God telling me to do that?" or "How do
I know it is God speaking?" or "When will I know what God's will is?"
Then you will never regret doing this exciting study.
2 Timothy 4:6-8 NKJV
Paul’s Valedictory (a farewell address)
6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my
departure is at hand. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I
have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me
only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
10. The Plan of Hope & Salvation:
John 3:16-17 NKJV
16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not
send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him
might be saved.”
John 14:6 NKJV
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the
Father except through Me.”
Romans 3:23 NKJV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23a NKJV
23a For the wages of sin is death,
• Death in this life (the first death) is 100%.
• Even Jesus, the only one who doesn’t deserve death, died in this life to
pay the penalty for our sin.
• The death referred to in Romans 6:23a is the “second death” explained in
Revelation 21:8.
Revelation 21:8 NKJV
8 “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral,
sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with
fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
• Anyone who’s lifestyle is one or more of the sins listed in Revelation 21:8,
will experience the “second death,” if they do not repent.
• To Repent means to turn around, to go in the opposite direction, to turn
away from sin and to come to Jesus.
Romans 5:8 NKJV
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.
Romans 6:23b NKJV
23b but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Revelation 21:7 NKJV
7 “He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be
My son.”
• Romans 10:9-10 explain to us how to be overcomers.
11. Romans 10:9-10 NKJV
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that
God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one
believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation.
Romans 10:13 NKJV
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
