Tablet Friendly Web Design - Best Practices for Financial ServicesCorporate Insight
Corporate Insight has kept a close eye on mobile developments in the financial services industry. Since the iPad’s introduction, more than 30 firms we track have added tablet-optimized apps. However, that still leaves dozens of firms without a dedicated app, and even those that have one likely see significant traffic to their main websites via tablet browsers. A poor experience there can alienate current as well as prospective clients. All firms should be keeping tablet-friendly design principles in mind when making changes to their websites.
But what specifically are those principles? We decided to look at the industry today and see what positive examples we could find and share. This study looks at recent updates to four firms’ public websites with features suited for tablet use – although some shortcomings may remain. We chose the four firms at right for a cross-industry perspective, covering the different financial services sectors Corporate Insight tracks – bank and card, brokerage, insurance and asset management.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

3. Ten Reasons to Upgrade from Adobe LiveCycle to Adobe Experience Manager Forms 3
Introduction
Thousands of governments, financial institutions and other enterprises
use Adobe LiveCycle software to enroll clients in services, streamline
form and document processes, and generate professional documents
efficiently. They’ve successfully integrated LiveCycle with their back-end
systems and employed LiveCycle security, tracking, management and
archival features to maintain compliance.
Today, Adobe continues form and document innovation with Adobe
Experience Manager forms, part of Adobe Marketing Cloud. It retains
all the features and functionality of Adobe LiveCycle while continually
adding more capabilities to help regulated industries extend engaging
customer experiences to forms and documents.
In this paper, you’ll learn about the top ten reasons to upgrade from
Adobe LiveCycle to Experience Manager forms.
Adobe Experience Manager forms retains all the features of LiveCycle, plus more features and integration with Adobe Marketing Cloud solutions.
4. Ten Reasons to Upgrade from Adobe LiveCycle to Adobe Experience Manager Forms 4
1. Deliver exceptional smartphone experiences
Increasingly, people are using their smartphones to access the Internet for research and to purchase goods and services.
More than half of Americans report they have used their smartphone for online banking in the last year. For many
citizens served by government programs, a smartphone is their primary—and sometimes only—way to access the
Internet. While many organizations have engaging mobile sites, most online forms are still in PDF. LiveCycle PDF forms
simulate paper forms, but work best on desktops or laptops. On tablets or smartphones, the user experience is not ideal,
leading to greater abandonment and fewer conversions. Moreover, changes to web browser plug-in support are making
LiveCycle PDF forms difficult to fill out in modern browsers.
To reach potential clients and deepen relationships with existing ones, organizations need to offer ways to convert
those mobile users already browsing for information. Adobe Experience Manager forms allows you to use existing form
templates to render responsive and engaging forms in browsers—without having to rely on those browsers supporting
plug-ins. With the adaptive forms feature in Experience Manager forms, you can offer smartphone users quick, easy and
more secure ways to enroll in programs or services and access personalized documents—anytime and anywhere.

2. Meet demand for multichannel experiences
While smartphone Internet usage is skyrocketing, the typical customer journey from research
to conversion involves multiple screens and channels. For example, prospects may start their
research and service enrollment on a smartphone, but finish it on a desktop. Remembering user
information and preferences streamlines the enrollment process and increases conversion rates.
Using Experience Manager forms, you can save information already entered in a form and offer
users the option to continue later, even on another device. Forms and documents created in
Experience Manager forms also automatically respond to devices, offering optimal experiences
across tablets, smartphones, and desktops. Prospects can start an application form on one device,
and finish it several days later from another, and all their information is preserved.
According to the 2014 Adobe Mobile Marketing Survey, many organizations have web or
mobile sites. For many industries, having mobile websites is not useful if you can’t convert
prospects to customers using mobile-friendly forms.
More than 60% of adults use at least two screens a
day, while 40% start an activity on one screen and
then finish it on another.

3. Make it easy to find the right form
For potential clients, finding the service they need and then the right form—out of dozens or
hundreds—is a daunting task. Experience Manager forms allows you to easily include forms as part
of inbound marketing efforts and outbound campaigns, quickly directing prospects to the right
service and form.
Experience Manager forms integrates with Experience Manager Sites and other web content
management (WCM) solutions, helping to ensure your forms are part of a consistent web strategy.
Using Experience Manager forms, you can insert a forms portal onto any web page. A forms portal
presents web visitors with a list of forms—appropriate for their location and device—that they can
browse or search using an integrated search bar. Integration between Adobe Experience Manager
and Adobe Campaign allows organizations to share content between digital assets across websites,
campaigns and forms—speeding the creation of assets and presenting a seamless and consistent
experience to prospects.
Outbound marketers can leverage Adobe Campaign to send prospects personalized email offers
that include or link to forms that match their interests. With one click, they can begin the enrollment
process, even from a smartphone. Your organization can further simplify the form-filling process by
leveraging integrated customer profile information from Campaign to prefill some of the form fields,
for example a prospect’s name and email address.
Send prospects personalized offers and include
forms as part of a consistent digital experience.
Allow prospects to easily search and find the form
they need by exposing all forms in a searchable,
customizable forms portal inserted into your
website.
7. Ten Reasons to Upgrade from Adobe LiveCycle to Adobe Experience Manager Forms 7
4. Simplify form-filling experiences
Once a prospect has found the right form, making the form as easy as possible to fill out increases conversion rates
and customer satisfaction. Experience Manager forms automatically presents the right experience for each screen,
device and browser. Users can immediately start filling out forms without downloading software, apps or PDF plug-
ins for browsers.
Experience Manager forms also includes all Adobe LiveCycle features that simplify digital form filling, such
as calculations and field prepopulation. Experience Manager forms includes new features that further reduce
keystrokes, improve accessibility, reduce errors and eliminate the requirement to print forms, including:
• In-form help for individual form fields or sections
• Ability to use mobile device features such as camera, text to speech and picker wheel
• Option to prefill form fields from social media profiles
• More secure electronic signatures
• Ability to save partially completed forms and return later to complete them—even on another device
Features in Experience Manager forms simplify form filling—
even on smartphones.

5. Offer anywhere, anytime access to documents
Many organizations use Adobe LiveCycle to generate printed statements or PDF documents for digital
delivery. However, paper statements are costly, and PDF documents are difficult to read on smaller
devices such as smartphones. Today’s customers are used to having information at their fingertips—no
matter where they happen to be.
Yet people are often reluctant to give up familiar paper statements. According to a 2013 Forrester
Research report, the top reason U.S. investors still want paper statements was to keep them for their
records. Organizations that offer compelling, more secure and enduring digital alternatives to paper can
dramatically reduce costs associated with printing and mailing paper statements.
Upgrading to Experience Manager forms gives you the best of all worlds. Using LiveCycle document
templates as a starting point, you can create smart documents that adapt to a user’s screen and
dynamically link to other business systems. By logging into a personal web portal, clients can access
personalized, responsive, interactive documents—anytime, anywhere, from any device—without
downloading an app or browser plug-in. You can link documents to other business processes to allow
clients to conveniently access other services, such as making a payment or requesting a change in
service. Since each document is based on a template, you can offer clients the option to download a PDF
copy for their records.
Using Experience Manager forms, you can generate personalized welcome kits, statements and
other documents that clients can view on any device—and they can download a PDF copy for their
records.

6. Reuse Adobe LiveCycle investments
in apps and forms
Adobe LiveCycle customers do not have to disrupt operations to upgrade to
Experience Manager forms. Upgrading preserves investment in applications,
PDF forms, workflow, correspondence management and document security. For
example, you can continue to use existing LiveCycle templates and schemas
while also leveraging them to create form and document versions suitable
for mobile users. With a few clicks, you can import templates and schemas
into Experience Manager Forms and begin developing adaptive forms and
documents, using a drag-and-drop interface to place components and their
attributes into an adaptive form or document template. As a bonus, you can
offer clients the option to download a PDF copy of the completed form or
document for their records.
Using existing LiveCycle document templates, you can retain familiar-looking PDF statements while also
generating web statements that clients can securely access anytime and anywhere.
10. Ten Reasons to Upgrade from Adobe LiveCycle to Adobe Experience Manager Forms 10
7. Empower mobile workers
Work today happens anywhere, not just in the office. Yet filling
out paper forms in the field and then later rekeying data into
systems back at the office is inefficient and can introduce errors.
Experience Manager forms includes a mobile app that allows
workers with tablets to interact with forms and related information
from anywhere, anytime. Caseworkers and inspectors can fill out
forms, make notes and take pictures, even while offline. Based
on observations, workers can initiate a new process—such as
a work order—while in the field. Once the tablet reconnects
to the corporate network, captured information automatically
synchronizes with the Experience Manager forms server. The
Experience Manager forms app securely encrypts all information
stored on tablets, meeting privacy and regulatory requirements.
Chamberlin Edmonds streamlines complex benefits application processes
with Experience Manager forms
For over 29 years, Chamberlin Edmonds, an Emdeon company, has worked with hospitals across
the United States to help their uninsured and underinsured patients navigate complicated assistance
programs. Applying for federal, state and local programs can require vast amounts of paperwork to
determine eligibility. Before Experience Manager, Chamberlin Edmonds would meet with clients in
hospitals to determine their eligibility, go to the office to complete and print forms, and then return
to the hospital for signatures. The process could be stressful for patients as well as challenging for
Chamberlin Edmonds staff who had to manually capture and complete many pages of information.
Today, with Adobe Experience Manager forms, the company’s representatives can efficiently complete
application forms on their tablets—dramatically reducing workflow redundancies. They can enter new
information while meeting with patients, as well as download information from existing patient systems
to automatically prepopulate certain patient details. Experience Manager forms instantly propagates
data across multiple pages, eliminating the need to repeatedly enter the same details. Once forms are
filled out, patients can sign the forms a single time right on the tablet, instead of having to sign dozens
of printed pages. The result—improved experiences for patients and an almost 50% reduction in the
time to complete benefits applications.
11. Ten Reasons to Upgrade from Adobe LiveCycle to Adobe Experience Manager Forms 11
8. Continually optimize forms and documents
with Adobe Marketing Cloud
Adobe LiveCycle works with other business systems to process form information and generate
personalized documents. With Experience Manager forms, you can go beyond creating, managing
and processing forms and documents. Experience Manager forms is tightly integrated with other
Adobe Marketing Cloud solutions, allowing you to easily measure and continually optimize all
elements of your digital strategy.
Integration with Adobe Analytics helps you gain insight into form and document abandonment,
and usage. An out-of-the box report measures prospect interactions with forms and documents,
including impression and submission rates. The graphical report lets you drill down into form
sections and fields to develop more insight, such as where prospects make the most errors, read
help text or abandon the form.
With insight into how prospects interact with forms and documents, you can use A/B testing in
Adobe Target to optimize mobile form and document experiences. A/B testing lets you test two
versions of a form or document at the same time on web audiences, and then choose a winner
based on which experience produces the most conversions.
Integration with Adobe Analytics provides deep, real-time insight into how prospects interact
with forms and documents, helping you improve digital experiences and conversion rates.
12. Ten Reasons to Upgrade from Adobe LiveCycle to Adobe Experience Manager Forms 12
9. Take advantage of flexible deployment options
Upgrading to Experience Manager Forms is not a difficult or lengthy process. The first step is converting
your LiveCycle license to an Experience Manager forms license. Your organization can perform the
technical migration when it’s convenient, while maintaining existing LiveCycle servers and relational
databases. Or, you can choose to deploy Experience Manager forms on Open Service Gateway
Initiative (OSGi), a Java service platform shared by all Adobe Marketing Cloud solutions.
Alternatively, you can choose to deploy Experience Manager forms as a managed service. Adobe is an
authorized Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) cloud solutions provider
for Experience Manager forms, including document security, as well as Experience Manager Sites for
web content management. These Adobe solutions enable government agencies to create outstanding
customer experiences and become more efficient while securing mission-critical content across all
devices.
Purchasing and licensing Experience Manager forms is also simpler than Adobe LiveCycle. Experience
Manager forms licenses include all features (except document security, which is available as an add-on),
in contrast to the very modular LiveCycle licenses. You don’t have to decide upfront which features you
will use in the future, simplifying the decision-making and licensing process.
13. Ten Reasons to Upgrade from Adobe LiveCycle to Adobe Experience Manager Forms 13
10. Enjoy an ever-expanding feature set
All the features you enjoy in Adobe LiveCycle are available in Experience Manager forms,
plus a great deal more. With Experience Manager forms, Adobe continues its long history of
investment in customer-facing form and document technology. Upgrading helps ensure that
you have the latest tools to create, manage, measure and optimize forms and documents that
your customers can enjoy from the latest screens and devices.
