Indirect Questions
Let us first repeat Indirect Commands and Indirect Statements:
E.g. “Sit down!”
He tells me to sit down. (to sit down – infinitive)
“Don’t go away!”
He orders me not to go away. (not to go away – negative infinitive)
“I met a man.”
Delia says that she met a man. (change of the personal pronoun)
Now, Indirect Questions:
E.g.
“Where did you get it from?”
Delia asks him where he got it from. (Question word + Subject + Verb)
“Are you enjoying the party?”
She asks me if (whether) I am enjoying the party. (If/whether + Subject + Verb)
Beware of the word order in indirect questions!
