Tonight, I would like to see all of you participating with us in this outstanding Presentation, and of course you will be very well compensated all throughout. We are here tonight to share THE FIVE MOST IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS WHEN SPEAKING AS A LEADER. My name is Enrique Martinez.... I’m going to talk about why one might want to use inspiration when speaking as a leader and explain how this might be achieved. By the end of my presentation, you will be able to take away 2-3 techniques you might use in your next presentation to inspire your audience. Before I begin, we are going to play name that tune. I chose Michael Jackson as my artist because he is inspiring. I’m going to play a 10-second clip of a Michael Song and I want you to name that tune. - #7 I’m going to talk about why one might want to avoid using too much information when speaking as a leader and explain how this might be achieved. By the end of my presentation, you will be able to take away 2-3 techniques you might use in your next presentation to avoid negativity. Before I begin, we are going to play name that tune. I chose Busta Rhymes as my artist because of his pressured lyrics. I’m going to play a 10-second clip of a Busta Rhymes song and I want you to name that tune. Play song (advance to next slide) Name that tune! allow audience to answer. Disadvantages: Bore Audience: Bore audience: “Less is more” as a speaker, your goal is to deliver the maximum value of information to your audience, but that doesn't necessarily mean the MOST amount of info. Never start with. “I’ve got a lot of info to cover today”-- automatically makes them feel like they are in a boring, lecture setting. Try to tell a story to keep your audience interested Becomes unclear: Simplicity and relevance are good but information needs clarity to be effective The less information you present – the easier it is for your audience to understand Present in a 6x6 rule. Use PP as a supplement to support your message, not a crutch. Makes it hard to take action: Think to yourself, What action should the user take? Why should the take it?- give them information that is useful and relevant to them. Most information really only contains a key point or two – grab those points and move on. When crafting your message be light on the details and keep it high level and don’t talk forever. Use an appropriate amount of time to convey your subject matter. Now I will move into the activity portion of my presentation where you will listen to Busta Rhymes and spend one minute writing down 2-3 techniques you have taken away to help you keep constrain the information you provide.

By the end of my presentation, you will be able to take away 2-3 techniques you might use in your next presentation to keep content positive. Before I begin, we are going to play name that tune. I chose Pharrell as my artist because of his positivity. I’m going to play a 10-second clip of a Pharrell song and I want you to name that tune. Play song Name that tune! When you arrive on stage for your performance, you want to use positive language for your delivery, because that will set the tone for the audience experience. When you keep your message upbeat, it generates more jovial emotions from your audience and they might feel happy, happy, happy. Your audience will be more receptive to your message and they might begin singing your tune. They will be more engaged, like Men at Work, enthusiastic like James Brown, and they might even feel uplifted as if they are Walking on Sunshine. Always Accentuate the Positive. According to Lauren Hug, author of The Managers Guide to Presentations, one should complete a presentation planning process. When planning and composing your message, your overall theme should include inspiring words pulled from a positive vocabulary. Release the main idea of your message early to build up to your event and then follow with a few finale messages, so that it is repetitive. Use different methods of communication for pre and post messages, such as posters and email. Keep your expressions natural, relaxed, approachable and have a pleasant face. Don’t be a one hit wonder. Make all your messages positive, and you’ll be a rock star. Now I will move into the activity portion of my presentation where you will listen to Pharrell and spend one minute writing down 2-3 techniques you have taken away to help you keep content positive in your next presentation.

By the end of my presentation, you will be able to take away 2-3 techniques you might use in your next presentation to avoid negativity. Before I begin, we are going to play name that tune. I chose Eminem as my artist because of his negative lyrics. I’m going to play a 10-second clip of an Eminem song and I want you to name that tune. Play song Name that tune! If you choose to use negative language, or lyrics, you might not inspire great things from your audience. Your audience will hear you Roar, but if your message is dark, you could leave them a negative impression of yourself, your topic, your instruction, etc. You could create pessimism and your audience might feel as if they are being attacked by Beatles. You, as a speaker, will not be a hit. Your message could be forgotten or ignored if it is saturated with doom and gloom. Your interactions with others will be like a scratched CD. Nobody will want to learn from you because nobody will be receptive to anything you have to say. It’s a real drag when you choose to focus on negativity. Come out of The Darkness with your position as a leader, so your role is recognized by others. Choosing a negative approach is like a Wrecking Ball on your credibility, your reputation and 1:1 interactions. Ultimately, your team will be out of rhythm, with less than optimal performance because you will have created bad morale. To reiterate what Nancy said, use language that inspires and uplifts, and then your audience will have a Celebration. Work in teams, like Village People, to promote efficiency and productivity, which improves attitude and mood. Everyone will say “I feel good!” Now I want to bring Nancy back in so that we can perform a Duet for you.
- #15 Thank you, Muhammad. You all should have a copy of our duet that was provided before we began. This duet will demonstrate how you can alter your words and move from a negative tone to a more positive one. Muhammad will start us off: Muhammad; “Instead of saying _________” Nancy; “say ________________” (Alternate every other line until the list is complete) Moving forward, our composition has shown you how you can make alternative and optimal choices when choosing your words. Now I’ll give the presentation back to Muhammad so he can introduce you to someone who can’t seem to shake that negative vibe.
- #16 Who knows who Kanye West is? Raise your hand. (allow audience a brief moment to respond) I’m going to show you all a video that most of you have probably seen. In this video you will see how Kanye’s negative and disruptive behavior effects the audience. Show Video In the video you just watched, you all witnessed Kanye’s disruptive, ugly, entitled behavior and the effect it had on the audience, especially Beyoncé and Taylor. Do you all have a positive impression of Kanye today? (allow audience a brief moment to respond) If not, it is likely in part due to this very public display. This demonstrates how your on-stage message can reflect badly on you and your image. Your responses demonstrate how your on-stage message affects opinion. Now we will move to the activity portion of my presentation where you will spend one minute listening to Eminem and writing down 2-3 techniques you have taken away to help you Avoid Negativity in your next presentation.
- #18 WHY: Helps shape the presentation An action oriented presentation will lead the audience Inspires the audience Focusing on the problem is not inspiring. "Sales are down" should not be the focus. The focus should be on a plan to increase them. HOW: Acknowledge the problem, but focus on the solution. "This quarter has been a tough one, but we have put together a plan to ensure that the next one is better" Build up to the positive and end on a high note. Build up to the positive and end on a high note. Avoid double negatives Replace "It's not the worst quarter we've had" With "We are confident our changes will have positive impact" Have real solutions, not a "Sunny Disposition" Positive attitudes without a concrete objective creates an empty presentation.
- #20 We all know who Beyoncé is, right? Raise your hand if you don’t know who she is. (allow audience a brief moment to respond) I’m going to show you all a video that you might have seen. In this video you will see how Beyoncé addressed Kanye’s negative and disruptive behavior that we witnessed with a positive solution. Rather than bashing Kanye, she shared her public moment and the stage with Taylor. Show Video In the video you just watched, you all witnessed Beyoncé's positive solution and the effect it had on the audience. Based on this demonstration alone, do you all have a positive impression of Beyoncé today? (allow audience a brief moment to respond) This demonstrates how your on-stage message can affect your image. Now we will move to the activity portion of my presentation where you will spend one minute listening to Madonna and writing down 2-3 techniques you have learned that will help you focus on solutions in your next presentation.
