Saul's sins of disobedience to God's
command, and his envy of David angered God,
and He brought an evil spirit upon Saul, and he
is paranoid and lashing out at God's man.

                                             2
In 1 Samuel 19, Saul sent
 assassins to kill David.
We saw God protect David
time after time from Saul's
         evil hand.

 When God has a Plan
for a woman or a man,
He can and will preserve
     that person.

                              3
David went to the prophet
  Samuel, where God
protected him from three
   groups of assassins
and then from Saul himself.
But David knows it's not over.

                                    4
1 Samuel 20 1 And David fled from Naioth in
Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What
have I done? what is mine iniquity? and what is my
sin before thy father, that he seeketh my life?
Even after all that Saul had done against him,
David sought out Jonathan to see if there might be
         some means of reconciliation.

                                                5
2 Corinthians 5 18 And all things are of God, Who
hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and
hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
First and foremost, to bring lost sinners to God.
But also to reconcile with those who are angry with us.

Romans 12 17 Recompense to no man evil for evil.
Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it
be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably
with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not your-
selves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is
written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the
Lord.
Saul would never quit hunting David and trying to
kill him, but David never tried to hurt Saul.
"Lord, give me a heart like David."
                                                     7
2 And  he (Jonathan) said unto him, God forbid;
thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do
nothing either great or small, but that he will shew
it me: and why should my father hide this thing
from me? it is not so.
"If Daddy was still trying to kill you,
               I would know about it;
He tells me everything he is doing."

                                                   8
3 And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father
certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine
eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest
he be grieved: but truly as the Lord liveth, and as
thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and
death.
Saul knows that you love me, and he is just
saving you the pain of knowing this thing.

                                                   9
… there is but a step between me and death.
David knew that Saul was not going
to give up on the idea of killing him.
He doesn't realize it, but God is using these trials to
prepare David for the job of being King of Israel.

                                                    10
God rarely, if ever, calls those who are already
            qualified to do His Work.
If we were qualified in ourselves, where would
            be the glory to God?
When God uses those of us who would never be
chosen by men to do a job,
        God gets all the glory.

                                                     11
James 1 2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when ye
fall into divers temptations (trials); knowing
this, that the trying (testing) of your faith worketh
patience (cheerful endurance). But let patience
have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect
(mature) and entire, wanting (lacking) nothing.

                               That is not the Will
                                 of God for us.
                                Maturity is God's
                               Will for His children.
                                                    12
God often prepares us for a ministry by allowing us
to go through difficult trials --
But He is always right there with us to help.
David is going to be King of Israel, but he is not
yet ready for the demands of the job.

  God is getting him ready.

                                                   13
There is always but a step between us and death.
We are not guaranteed even one more breath of life.
All saved are prepared for death and judgment,
but we don't want to be ashamed in that day.
Be always ready to see Jesus!
Never be doing anything that you wouldn't
want to be doing when you die, or when
       Jesus comes for the rapture.

                                                  14
But though dangers appear most threatening, we
cannot die till the Purpose of God concerning us is
accomplished; nor till we have served our gener-
ation according to His Will, if we are believers.
                                           Matthew Henry

Knowing that God will preserve me until I have
done all that He is going to use me to do.

eous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.

and live our lives His Way.
