Right atrial enlargement is seen on clinical imaging of the heart. Enlargement of the right atrium can be associated with conditions such as tricuspid insufficiency, pulmonary atresia, and hypoplastic left heart syndrome. In these cases, the right atrium appears enlarged on frontal and left anterior oblique x-ray projections, accompanied by decreased pulmonary vascularity in pulmonary atresia and severe pulmonary venous congestion in hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
