Nothing destroys unity like pride and the church at Corinth was full of pride. Paul puts their house in order with this timely letter that most certainly speaks to us today.
This is a book you will surely love to read. it probes into the virtue of humility with JESUS CHRIST us the GREAT OBJECT OF STUDY. I hope after reading this book you will really enjoy it and be changed by it
Important study on the Emergent Church and its infiltration into Protestantism and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Omega of apostasy will deceive many people, for the devil is behind it. Our only safety is in an abiding relationship with Jesus Christ, and serious study of the Bible.

Paul reveals to us what the grace of God has done for us as believers. He reveals the power of the Gospel, the message of the cross of Christ and points us to the way in which God works to display His power and wisdom through each of us, so that all of us make our boast in Him alone.
Paul summarizes the first part of his letter of correction before heading on to other issues in the church at Corinth. Godly leadership as well as godly followers are needed both then and today. This is the last in the series Build in Right.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

Renewed in Grace
The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Sermon title for today. We will cover all of chapter 1 .
Please stand and read with me the “Big Idea” scripture for today
Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment.
he House Divided Speech was an address given by Abraham Lincoln, later President of the United States, on June 16, 1858, at what was then the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield, after he had accepted the Illinois Republican Party's nomination as that state's US senator..
We are now far into the fifth year, since a policy was initiated, with the avowed object, and confident promise, of putting an end to slavery agitation.
Under the operation of that policy, that agitation has not only, not ceased, but has constantly augmented.
In my opinion, it will not cease, until a crisis shall have been reached, and passed.
"A house divided against itself cannot stand."
I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free.
I do not expect the Union to be dissolved -- I do not expect the house to fall -- but I do expect it will cease to be divided.
It will become all one thing or all the other.

Verses 1 through 9 are considered the salutation of the epistle. We are going to look at it in 2 parts.
Author – Who wrote it
Audience – Who is it intended to read it.
Agenda - What is the purpose of the author in writing the epistle.
The Apostle Paul
Former persecutor of the Church
Not universally accepted as an apostle
Founder of the Corinthian 1st Assembly. He spent a year and 6 months in Corinth.
Wrote a good portion of the New Testament
The Church of Corinth. They had a pride issue.
A church in trouble. This is a letter of correction.
A church in a wild town. Sailors, retired soldiers, cult prostitution
Extreme class division Slaves to elite congregates. Jews and Gentiles. Rich and poor.
Letters from three different sources detail troubles in the church. They need correction, instruction and unity
I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge, even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you, so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will

This is what was needed to fix the problems that the church faced. In most of his epistles to the churches Paul expresses a desire for unity. The section in 1 Corinthians on unity is longer than some of his other epistles.

Day of Pentecost – a good thing
For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void.
Paul shifts from messenger to message.
For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE, AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SET ASIDE.” Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? It’s about the message
The focus is on the Gospel message!
Church is not about personal preferences but about the message of Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
The Gospel divides the world into two classes. Those perishing and those being saved.
The symbol of salvation
The symbol of God’s power
The Word of the cross is the Gospel
The gospel reveals and channels the power of God. It produces faith. It produces repentance. It produces wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. The preaching of the cross does all of this. It is God’s power behind the written word (the Bible), the living word (Christ), the preached word (the gospel), and the established word (Christlikeness/the kingdom of God)
The wise, the clever, the scribes, debaters (Paul, Apollos, Peter, Christ followers)
