Title: A brief introduction in Electric Vehicle infrastructure research
Abstract: In this presentation I will describe the purpose and context of electric vehicle policies and charging infrastructure rollout issues. Next, we will take a look at the effects of rollout strategies on usage. Thereafter we shortly take a look at EV user charging behavior. The final part will be about the future or electric vehicles and potential research on energy transition due to the use of electric vehicles.
Qualify for EV Charging Grants and Incentives with NO FEES!Proterra Inc
Most EV Charging Equipment Incentives require reporting. This unusually means they have sign contracts, pay monthly service fees with an expensive EV Charging network! Not anymore! Telefonix and eGauge has a solution. Also they seem to push dual charger installation. This is not necessarily good for all applciations.
Heather Flanagan, ABB, presented information on the different types of electric vehicle charging stations that are available for Wisconsin Clean Cities EV Basics & Barriers webinar.

Workplace charging works! So lets make it simple!Proterra Inc
Recently the Department of Energy's "Workplace Charging Challenge" survey of employers that offer workplace charging, revealed that employees that are offered charging at work are 20 times more likely to drive a Plugin Electric Vehicle. The survey also showed that 80% of these employees offered this as a benefit to retain and attacked talented modern workforce. Since 78% of commuters drive 20 miles or less to work, replenishing this amount of electricity is consistent and equals the cost of a cup of coffee in the break-room. This means that companies don't need to install $5000, high powered, fast, communicating, chargers. Many willing companies are getting discouraged by these industry practices. Simple level 1 charger or the lower powered Level 2, like the Telefonix PowerPostEVSE product line, is a simple, safe and practical solution.
Distributed charging system is a system that divide the battery pack and charging them separately. Many different types of electric vehicle (EV) charging technologies are described in literature and implemented in practical applications. This paper presents an overview of the existing and proposed EV charging technologies in terms of converter topologies, power levels, power few directions and charging control strategies. An overview of the main charging methods is presented as well, particularly the goal is to highlight an effective and fast charging technique for lithium ions batteries.

DEVNET-1153 Enterprise Application to Infrastructure Integration – SDN AppsCisco DevNet
We've all heard about SDN and how SDN provides flexible networks to solve networks operation challenges. With respect to SDN Applications, the most obvious conversation is about network applications and services. But today we will discuss how we at Cisco are addressing business challenges and impact business outcomes directly by connecting two disparate worlds of Enterprise applications (EA) and Networking stack using Cisco Integration Platform (CIP).
As application development becomes more agile, and the ability to rapidly create and iterate new innovations escalates, so too does the need to be able to rapidly scale up the solutions that become successful. Equally it is common to create solutions with relatively short life-cycles and so we need to be able to scale down to recover resources too. On a more fine grained level, to make efficient use of shared platforms such as Kubernetes, we need to be able to dynamically scale applications up and down based on fine grained demand. Inevitably all these challenges are just as important for the integration between applications. This session explores what scalability means for the key areas of integration technology - application integration, API management and messaging.

Using Machine Learning to Govern Kafka Clients with Shu Wang & UmaMahesh SistuHostedbyConfluent
"Financial services organizations need robust event streaming platforms. Optimizing client application parameters when connecting to the streaming platform can be challenging. At Fidelity Investments, we built a streaming platform that hosts business application events for event driven architectures and integration with other business applications through events and streams. We simplified this process through Kafka client-side governance automation to help application development teams configure parameters compliant with security best practices and to optimize performance and throughput with an OPA rules engine plus AWS ML model prediction.
In this session, we will share the following aspects with a demo of linting APIs:
· Challenges with Kafka client-side governance
· OPA setup
· AWS ML models for prediction
· Demo of Kafka client-side linting
You will learn ideas for client governance and linting of Kafka client application as part of this talk. Kafka client governance is essential for the smooth operation of a financial services organization and for maintaining the trust of its customers."
Travelport, a B2B Travel Commerce platform enterprise company, has many custom-built enterprise applications. Monitoring and the concept of Application Performance Management (APM) as a whole was not part of the company DNA. Late delivery and poor performing applications prompted Travelport to look more closely at the maturity of its development and monitoring practices and of existing solutions. The company took an ambitious effort to adopt a “new” unifying tool strategy combining APM and analytics, and overcome cultural barrier to bring development and monitoring teams close together. If you are an ecommerce enterprise with customer-facing and custom-built applications, join this session to get insights into:
-Why we chose the road towards unified application monitoring strategy and overcoming common challenges most organizations wrestle with
-Why log analytics weren't enough
-Turning to AppDynamics Application Analytics to get real-time insights into business and performance data

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
