Mumbai: The Shiv Sena
has come to the de-

Swayamsevak Sangh
(the BJP’s ideological
mentor) after poet and
lyricist Javed Akhtar’s
comments comparing
the RSS to the Taliban.
Javed Akhtar was
“completely wrong”
in comparing the two,
the Sena declared. In
an editorial in party
mouthpiece Saamna,
the Sena pointed out
that the RSS, for exam-
ple, had not supported
the religious frenzy that
accompanied the ‘beef’
issue, and underlined
“no frenzy in the name
of Hindutva is accepted
here... neither the Shiv

India beat England by 157 runs to win the fourth Test at the Oval on Monday and take a 2-1
lead in the five-match series. England, set 368 to win, were dismissed for 210 after tea on
the last day as India triumphed in a match taking place just over fifty years on from their
first Test - and series - win in England at the Oval in 1971. England were relatively well-
placed at 141-2 after lunch before left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja and fast bowler Jasprit
Bumrah both struck twice in a spectacular collapse that saw the hosts lose four wickets
for six runs in 36 balls. Recalled paceman Umesh Yadav, who took 3-60, cleaned up the tail
and ended the match when James Anderson was caught behind.

ttacking BJP and RSS after

“Democracy was dismantled, robbed

are not biting the bait. The
mega kisan mahapanchayat
in Muzaffarnagar on Sunday
was not just proof of that but
it was also a warning that if
the issue is not resolved be-
fore the UP and Uttarakhand
elections, the governments
will have to pay electorally.
Rakesh Tikait couldn’t have
put it more bluntly when he
warned that his “Mission UP,
Uttarakhand” will be extend-
ed to include the Central gov-
ernment too. The Bharatiya
Kisan Union president gave a
rallying call to change the
system to save the country.
More specifically, though, he
described the rally as a show
of strength against the BJP
government in UP where
farmers are facing “hard-
ships”. “Electricity rates are
the highest, while sugarcane
rates have not gone up since
2016. The Centre has in-
creased cane FRP by Rs 5, a
mere five paise hike per kg,”
Tikait is leart to have said.
Tikait has been resolute in
his stand on the repeal of the
three farm laws and has stat-
ed that he will not settle for
anything less. When the gov-
ernment tried to malign him
by calling the farmers’ agita-
tion as politically sponsored
he broke down and vowed to
carry on the protest come
what may. That one incident
and also the lathi-charge on
protesters by the UP police in
the middle of the night in-
fused fresh energy into the
agitation.

t is rightly said that self-made
individuals who know their
path guide themselves —
and, they cannot lose their
way, or goal. This is primar-
ily because the path they love
to tread presents itself below
their feet. The picturesque
boulevard they choose may
just as well twist, or turn,
and impediments would
emerge, all right, but they
continue onwards and up-
wards on their journey
.
Yet, as my ‘guru,’ M V
Kamath, the doyen of Indian
journalism — whose 100th
birth anniversary falls today
— would always tell the path
one chooses and pursues with
passion and persistence
makes the ‘combatant’ in us
equipped with the instinctive
capacity to complete the voy-
age, howsoever difficult it
may appear to be. The higher
oneclimbs,thebettertheview
from one’s summit in one’s
own ‘mindful’ Mount Everest.
I was in awe of Kamath’s
immense erudition and
learning. I followed his writ-
ings as a budding writer —
with diligence. I got to know
him personally much later,
not only as a seasoned writer,
journalist, editor, author, and
a much-sought-after speaker,
but as a man from my own
backyard — or, hometown. I
met him more than a handful
of times and spoke to him at
length — each time convers-
ing in Kannada, the language
and the cultural backdrop
that connected us. I’d think
of myself as Ekalavya and I’d
often wheedle him as my own
Dronacharya. And, he’d quip,
each time, pronto, “But, Eka-
lavya, without the ‘iniqui-
tous’ portent, because, don’t
you worry, I will never ever
ask for your thumb.”
Such images keep falling
like raindrops on my head, or
rather bald pate — but, what
has left a lasting impression
on my mind and memory is
his serene, gentle, divine
face, the mesmeric twinkle in
his eyes and his perennial
encouraging words for the
writer in me. What made my
day was he would quickly re-
call something I wrote and
tell me he liked it. He was so
unassuming that I was at
ease to converse with him
without feeling edgy. This
was his greatness. This was
something that helped me to
get a good grasp of what each
of us should aspire for —
learning the fundamental
lessons in a voyage called
life, not simply success with
a career option, but under-
standing our higher calling
to work and expanding on
our potential, howsoever
small, big, significant, or in-
significant.
Most importantly, I loved
to hear his riveting anecdotes
from his vast repository, his
remarkable media experi-
ence — glimpses from the
times past. He’d recall events
like a computer accessing
files from the hard disk — in
a flash — be it tales from his
‘beat’ as a reporter, his post-
ings in Bonn, Washington, or
elsewhere, including some
amusing ‘real-time’ yarn, or
strands, traced and pulled
from Patagonia, in a jiffy, or
compelling details of Pandit
Jawaharlal Nehru’s vitriolic
temper to utter calm in an
instant, or the once friendly
and later standoffish Indira
Gandhi. His insuperable rep-
ertoire and the power of be-
ing a lively raconteur would
construct fragments into
their full identity and mean-
ing — something that led one
to a deeper level of knowl-
edge, long before the Internet
became a way of life.
Kamath loved his Olivetti
typewriter. He never em-
braced the word processor, or
computer - to write his arti-
cles, or books - nor the e-mail.

For a science graduate,
who toyed with the half-
hearted idea of being a
chemist, Kamath had a way
for authenticity, or valida-
tion of his thought process
— he thought of it as the
light of consciousness that
made its way into the shad-
ows, or danced with them.
Something that one could ac-
cept as being a part of us and
also others. Yes, not every-
one acquiesced to his ‘right-
ist’ political leanings. This
was palpable — but, what
made him exceptional was
his enormous body of work,
the numerous times he au-
thored and edited. This in-
cludes “The Sunday Times”
and “The Illustrated Weekly
of India.”
To call Kamath the inex-
haustible, also quintessen-
tial, wordsmith would be
stating the obvious — pri-
marily because he cuddled
not just the full spectrum of
chronicling politics and our
human canvas, but he also
opened up a whole new vista
of transformed, as also diver-
gent, constructs. There won’t
be another like him again.

In Punjab, the controversy between Chief
Minister Captain Amarinder Singh vs State Presi-
dent Navjot Singh Sidhu refuses to end. Swords
have come out between the two and in-charge
Harish Rawat is also getting injured in the duel. On
the other hand, the dispute between Chief Minister
Bhupesh Baghel and Health Minister TS Singhdeo
in Chhattisgarh is not getting resolved. Both are
engaged in a show of strength. A cold war is going on between former
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and
state president DK Shivakumar. The fight
is not going on openly because in the past
the party high command has said that the
2023 assembly elections will not be fought on
anyone’s name i.e. the party will not declare its
Chief Ministerial candidate.
Thereis a fight in Haryana and Bhupinder Singh
Hooda wants the party to contest the elections with him being
declared as the CM candidate. But Randeep Surjewala, Kiran
Chaudhary, Kumari Selja and Captain Ajay Yadav are not ready to
accept it in any way. If this dispute is not resolved, the end result will
be the split of the Congress.
On the other hand, there is no Congress state
committee in Gujarat for two years and for
several months now, the state president and the
leader of the legislature party have resigned, but
the Congress is unable to take a decision.
In Kerala, supporters of old leaders - Oommen Chandy and Ramesh
Chennithala - have opened a front against Rahul Gandhi’s elected state
president K Sudhakaran and new legislature party leader VD Satishan.
14 new district presidents were appointed in the state, against which
there was a huge controversy. As a result, a general secretary and a for-
mer MLA have been suspended, a district president has resigned and a
secretary has been expelled from the party. These four leaders belonged
to the Chandy and Chennithala camps.
There is peace in Rajasthan but beneath the
surface, the dispute between Chief Minister
Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot is not over
and all eyes are on the cabinet expansion
in the state. Apart from these three states,
there is a ruckus within the Congress in
other states of the country as well.

SELECTIVE IGNORANCE OR A CONSIDERED MOVE?

Silence over tenure of Dr Ramacharyulu
as RS Secy Gen throws a puzzle...
Rakesh Ranjan
New Delhi: Ramacha-
ryulu, missed out on
defining his tenure
leaving avenues for
speculations whether
it’s considered decision
or an indication of an-
other surprise devp. A
section of cadre officers
take it this way only
.
It appears to have
emanated from some
missing links and con-
necting links as well.
The appointment noti-
fication, issued on the
last day of August
month, reads: “Hon’ble
Chairman, RS, has
been pleased to appoint
Dr PPK Ramacharyulu,
Secy, RS Secretariat as
Secy-Gen, RS in rank
status of Cabinet Secy
on contractual basis
with effect from fore-
noon of Sept 1 until fur-
ther orders.” A section
of people in power cor-
ridors make it a point
that the notification
maintained a conspicu-
ous silence over Dr
PPK’s tenure. A section
of watchers say what
does this order mean?
Will Dr Ramacharyulu
continue till VP Naidu
remains RS chairman?
Or does it mean that a
move is on to wrest post
to service which feels it
is their turf ? It is mur-
mured in official cir-
cles that the New Delhi
was keen to retain Desh
D Verma for a little
more time in his SG
post for his astute
mgmt of Upper House.
And why not?
Interestingly, the in-
side stories further of-
fer a revealing view-
point. Some well-
placed sources say that
Dr PPK’s was consid-
ered to be drafted as
‘officiating SG’ but fi-
nally he was made a
full-fledged SG.

New Delhi: In Bihar,

parties are entangled
with each other, much
like how two opposition
parties fight. State BJP
leaders are constantly
targeting the govern-

chance to find out the
shortcomings in perfor-

Many leaders have
been deployed for this
task to target Nitish
and repeatedly tell the
people of Bihar that Ni-
tish is a ‘circumstan-
tial’ CM and despite the
less number of seats,
the BJP has done him a
huge favor by making
him the CM. In re-
sponse, JDU has started
its ‘positioning’ and has
started showing its at-
titude towards the BJP.
JD(U) national gen-
eral secretary KC Tyagi
has demanded forma-
tion of a coordination
committee of the BJP-
led NDA. He has re-
minded that during the
time of Atal Bihari Vaj-
payee, there was a coor-
dination committee of
NDA. Tyagi said that if
there is a coordination
committee, then both
the parties can discuss
the issues on which
their opinions do not
match. He has also said
that Nitish may not be a
contender for the post
of PM but he has all the
qualifications for the
post of PM.
Earlier, JDU support-
ed the demand of caste
based census and met
PM Narendra Modi
with LoP Tejashwi Ya-
dav. Prior to this, Nitish
had demanded a probe
into the Pegasus spying
case which is an ex-
tremely sensitive issue
for the BJP and the cen-
tral government, on
which the entire mon-
soon session of Parlia-
ment was stalled. By
demanding an investi-
gation, Nitish has tried
to hurt BJP where it
hurts the most.

MODI LAUDS HP GOVT, CM THAKUR
HP has given me an opportunity to be proud. I
have seen the state struggling for basic facilities
but we see them doing well. I want to congratulate

logistics, transportation and storage. But the situation
was handled by the state government in a commend-

government and the Chief Minister Jairam Thakur.

The PM during the interaction urged the healthcare workers to avoid the wast-

can decrease the expenses of vaccination by 10%.” “Teams were deployed to visit
every house to spread awareness about virus and vaccination. We used to take
feedback from the ASHA workers everyday and used to collect data to avoid the
wastage of vaccine,” Dr Rahul said while interacting with PM Modi.

Bharatpur: Veteran

impossible. Jagat, who

but also break into the
opposition securing all
but 9 votes. Out of the
37 votes, Jagat man-

though BJP had merely
17 votes in its favour.
The pedigreed politician,
who has been elected
legislator on multiple
occasions as well,
managed to sway 11
Congress and independ-
ent votes in his favour,
as a result, achieving
the feat. For winning the
Bharatpur Zila Pari-
shad, a minimum of 19
votes were needed but
Singh, with his massive
popularity, received the
support of nine more in-
dividuals. Notably, even
though Congress had 14
members, its candidate
- Halima - could muster
merely 9 votes as a few
Congress candidates
cross-voted against her.
Jagat Singh after taking
oath as Zila Pramukh
said, “Today I have got
28 votes and Congress
has got only 9 votes.
It is clear that a wave
of change is going on

teams from various
countries and re-
porters have cap-
tured various tones
of Jaipur from
Nawab Saheb Ki
Haveli. The famous pho-
tographer Raghu Rai has
included photographs of
‘Nawab Saheb Ki Haveli’ in
his internationally ac-
claimed book ‘Dreams of
India’. Likewise, seeing
the popularity of the Have-
li, National Geographic
Channel also featured a
series on it. India’s former
President Gyani Zail Singh
and many other national
international dignitaries
visited the place.
Just as the Mughal Em-
peror Alauddin Khilji
glimpsed the immensely
beautiful Maharani Pad-
mini through a mirror, the
picturesque beauty of the
entirewalledcityof Jaipur
can be seen through rec-
tangular shaped mirrors
installed at the interna-
tionally renowned 18th-
century Nawab Saheb Ki
Haveli at Tripoliya Bazar
near City Palace in Jaipur.
Triloki Das Khandelwal,
owner of ‘Nawab Sahab ki
Haveli’ was quite old when
I visited the Haveli and met
him. He enthusiastically
climbed the stairs of the
haveli and took me to the
roof to show a panoramic
view of the pink city
. I wit-
nessed this incredible sight
and spotted about 25 his-
toric monuments and plac-
es of Jaipur through the
two mirrors on the terrace.
In the year 1958, Jaipur’s
renowned Iron ore busi-
nessman Trilokidas Khan-
delwal acquired the haveli
in an auction. The Haveli
has about 50 owners but
the best portion of the
Haveli where Chief Archi-
tect Vidyadhar stayed was
with Khandelwal.
Through his imagina-
tion, Khandelwal installed
two rectangular-shaped
mirrors in 1983 on each
end at Haveli’s terrace.
These mirrors can rotate
90 degrees and one can see
almost every fort and oth-
er archaeological beauties
of Jaipur like Pink City’s
crown Nahargarh Fort,
Gad Ganesh, Jal mahal,
Jantar Mantar, HawaMa-
hal’s front view, Huge cen-
otaph of Chandra Mahal,
Sargasuli, SawaiMansin-
gh Town Hall, Jaigarh

other sky-high buildings
of the city. Khandelwal
who died in 2019 opened
this place for tourists. Peo-

In 1987, this Haveli was included as the fifth top
tourist spot of Jaipur in the guide books of the
Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and
Government of Rajasthan. This tallest mansion
located at the heart of the city was constructed in
the 18th century as the abode of Sawai Maha-
raja Jai Singh Ji’s Minister and Chief Architect
Vidyadhar Bhattacharya. Maharaja Sawai Jai
Singh had decided to build Jaipur as the new
capital for Rajasthan. So, the sole reason for
building such a gigantic Haveli in the core of the
city was to oversee the entire construction and
development work of the city from one place.
The haveli passed on from Maharaja Jai Singh to
Maharaja Jagat Singh and from him to Maharaja
Ram Singh II. Then he presented it to his Prime
Minister Nawab Sir Faiz Ali Khan. Khan beautified
the Haveli with big halls and gold paintings. The
Haveli passed on to his descendants and as the
last one, Mohammed Mukarrum did not have any
son, it was again acquired by the Jaipur dynasty.

T armers have shown their might to the gov- ernments at the Centre and in Ut- tar Pradesh. Whatever the two governments may have to say about the three disput- ed farm laws being in the in- terest of agriculturists, they are not biting the bait. The mega kisan mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar on Sunday was not just proof of that but it was also a warning that if the issue is not resolved be- fore the UP and Uttarakhand elections, the governments will have to pay electorally. Rakesh Tikait couldn’t have put it more bluntly when he warned that his “Mission UP, Uttarakhand” will be extend- ed to include the Central gov- ernment too. The Bharatiya Kisan Union president gave a rallying call to change the system to save the country. More specifically, though, he described the rally as a show of strength against the BJP government in UP where farmers are facing “hard- ships”. “Electricity rates are the highest, while sugarcane rates have not gone up since 2016. The Centre has in- creased cane FRP by Rs 5, a mere five paise hike per kg,” Tikait is leart to have said. Tikait has been resolute in his stand on the repeal of the three farm laws and has stat- ed that he will not settle for anything less. When the gov- ernment tried to malign him by calling the farmers’ agita- tion as politically sponsored he broke down and vowed to carry on the protest come what may. That one incident and also the lathi-charge on protesters by the UP police in the middle of the night in- fused fresh energy into the agitation. This is primar- ily because the path they love to tread presents itself below their feet. The picturesque boulevard they choose may just as well twist, or turn, and impediments would emerge, all right, but they continue onwards and up- wards on their journey . Yet, as my ‘guru,’ M V Kamath, the doyen of Indian journalism — whose 100th birth anniversary falls today — would always tell the path one chooses and pursues with passion and persistence makes the ‘combatant’ in us equipped with the instinctive capacity to complete the voy- age, howsoever difficult it may appear to be. The higher oneclimbs, thebettertheview from one’s summit in one’s own ‘mindful’ Mount Everest. I was in awe of Kamath’s immense erudition and learning. I followed his writ- ings as a budding writer — with diligence. I got to know him personally much later, not only as a seasoned writer, journalist, editor, author, and a much-sought-after speaker, but as a man from my own backyard — or, hometown. I met him more than a handful of times and spoke to him at length — each time convers- ing in Kannada, the language and the cultural backdrop that connected us. I’d think of myself as Ekalavya and I’d often wheedle him as my own Dronacharya. And, he’d quip, each time, pronto, “But, Eka- lavya, without the ‘iniqui- tous’ portent, because, don’t you worry, I will never ever ask for your thumb.” Such images keep falling like raindrops on my head, or rather bald pate — but, what has left a lasting impression on my mind and memory is his serene, gentle, divine face, the mesmeric twinkle in his eyes and his perennial encouraging words for the writer in me. What made my day was he would quickly re- call something I wrote and tell me he liked it. He was so unassuming that I was at ease to converse with him without feeling edgy. This was his greatness. This was something that helped me to get a good grasp of what each of us should aspire for — learning the fundamental lessons in a voyage called life, not simply success with a career option, but under- standing our higher calling to work and expanding on our potential, howsoever small, big, significant, or in- significant. Most importantly, I loved to hear his riveting anecdotes from his vast repository, his remarkable media experi- ence — glimpses from the times past. He’d recall events like a computer accessing files from the hard disk — in a flash — be it tales from his ‘beat’ as a reporter, his post- ings in Bonn, Washington, or elsewhere, including some amusing ‘real-time’ yarn, or strands, traced and pulled from Patagonia, in a jiffy, or compelling details of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s vitriolic temper to utter calm in an instant, or the once friendly and later standoffish Indira Gandhi. His insuperable rep- ertoire and the power of be- ing a lively raconteur would construct fragments into their full identity and mean- ing — something that led one to a deeper level of knowl- edge, long before the Internet became a way of life. Something that one could ac- cept as being a part of us and also others. Yes, not every- one acquiesced to his ‘right- ist’ political leanings. This was palpable — but, what made him exceptional was his enormous body of work, the numerous times he au- thored and edited. This in- cludes “The Sunday Times” and “The Illustrated Weekly of India.” To call Kamath the inex- haustible, also quintessen- tial, wordsmith would be stating the obvious — pri- marily because he cuddled not just the full spectrum of chronicling politics and our human canvas, but he also opened up a whole new vista of transformed, as also diver- gent, constructs. Swords have come out between the two and in-charge Harish Rawat is also getting injured in the duel. On the other hand, the dispute between Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Health Minister TS Singhdeo in Chhattisgarh is not getting resolved. Both are engaged in a show of strength. A cold war is going on between former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and state president DK Shivakumar. The fight is not going on openly because in the past the party high command has said that the 2023 assembly elections will not be fought on anyone’s name i.e. the party will not declare its Chief Ministerial candidate. Thereis a fight in Haryana and Bhupinder Singh Hooda wants the party to contest the elections with him being declared as the CM candidate. But Randeep Surjewala, Kiran Chaudhary, Kumari Selja and Captain Ajay Yadav are not ready to accept it in any way. If this dispute is not resolved, the end result will be the split of the Congress. On the other hand, there is no Congress state committee in Gujarat for two years and for several months now, the state president and the leader of the legislature party have resigned, but the Congress is unable to take a decision. In Kerala, supporters of old leaders - Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala - have opened a front against Rahul Gandhi’s elected state president K Sudhakaran and new legislature party leader VD Satishan. 14 new district presidents were appointed in the state, against which there was a huge controversy. As a result, a general secretary and a for- mer MLA have been suspended, a district president has resigned and a secretary has been expelled from the party. These four leaders belonged to the Chandy and Chennithala camps. There is peace in Rajasthan but beneath the surface, the dispute between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot is not over and all eyes are on the cabinet expansion in the state. Apart from these three states, there is a ruckus within the Congress in other states of the country as well. Or does it mean that a move is on to wrest post to service which feels it is their turf ? It is mur- mured in official cir- cles that the New Delhi was keen to retain Desh D Verma for a little more time in his SG post for his astute mgmt of Upper House. And why not? Interestingly, the in- side stories further of- fer a revealing view- point. Some well- placed sources say that Dr PPK’s was consid- ered to be drafted as ‘officiating SG’ but fi- nally he was made a full-fledged SG. Jagat Singh flashes his victory certificate as his suporters cheer for him in Bharatpur after winning Panchayat polls. Bharatpur: Veteran politician Natwar Singh’s son - Jagat Singh - has achieved a political feat, that many believed was impossible. Jagat, who was contesting for the Bharatpur Zila Pramukh from BJP has managed not only win the election but also break into the opposition securing all but 9 votes. Out of the 37 votes, Jagat man- aged to clinch 28, even though BJP had merely 17 votes in its favour. The pedigreed politician, who has been elected legislator on multiple occasions as well, managed to sway 11 Congress and independ- ent votes in his favour, as a result, achieving the feat. For winning the Bharatpur Zila Pari- shad, a minimum of 19 votes were needed but Singh, with his massive popularity, received the support of nine more in- dividuals. Notably, even though Congress had 14 members, its candidate - Halima - could muster merely 9 votes as a few Congress candidates cross-voted against her. Jagat Singh after taking oath as Zila Pramukh said, “Today I have got 28 votes and Congress has got only 9 votes. It is clear that a wave of change is going on in Bharatpur. All the members of Congress, who have voted in my favour, they have done so happily, because everyone knows that only BJP can bring development, so they have voted in my favour. Now rural areas will de- velop because Congress leaders are only busy filling their pockets. They have nothing to do with development. But now after the formation of BJP’s board in the Zila Parishad, there will be development in rural areas.” CM Ashok Gehlot Sachin Pilot Hiimat Abhilash Tak UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal sees a copy of First India Newspaper while interacting with the CMD of First India Jagdeesh Chandra during the knowledge conference at Hotel Marriott.

The famous pho- tographer Raghu Rai has included photographs of ‘Nawab Saheb Ki Haveli’ in his internationally ac- claimed book ‘Dreams of India’. Likewise, seeing the popularity of the Have- li, National Geographic Channel also featured a series on it. India’s former President Gyani Zail Singh and many other national international dignitaries visited the place. Just as the Mughal Em- peror Alauddin Khilji glimpsed the immensely beautiful Maharani Pad- mini through a mirror, the picturesque beauty of the entirewalledcityof Jaipur can be seen through rec- tangular shaped mirrors installed at the interna- tionally renowned 18th- century Nawab Saheb Ki Haveli at Tripoliya Bazar near City Palace in Jaipur. Triloki Das Khandelwal, owner of ‘Nawab Sahab ki Haveli’ was quite old when I visited the Haveli and met him. He enthusiastically climbed the stairs of the haveli and took me to the roof to show a panoramic view of the pink city . I wit- nessed this incredible sight and spotted about 25 his- toric monuments and plac- es of Jaipur through the two mirrors on the terrace. In the year 1958, Jaipur’s renowned Iron ore busi- nessman Trilokidas Khan- delwal acquired the haveli in an auction. The Haveli has about 50 owners but the best portion of the Haveli where Chief Archi- tect Vidyadhar stayed was with Khandelwal. Through his imagina- tion, Khandelwal installed two rectangular-shaped mirrors in 1983 on each end at Haveli’s terrace. These mirrors can rotate 90 degrees and one can see almost every fort and oth- er archaeological beauties of Jaipur like Pink City’s crown Nahargarh Fort, Gad Ganesh, Jal mahal, Jantar Mantar, HawaMa- hal’s front view, Huge cen- otaph of Chandra Mahal, Sargasuli, SawaiMansin- gh Town Hall, Jaigarh Fort, Albert Hall, Moti Doongri Ganesh Temple, and Birla Temple with other sky-high buildings of the city. This tallest mansion located at the heart of the city was constructed in the 18th century as the abode of Sawai Maha- raja Jai Singh Ji’s Minister and Chief Architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya. Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh had decided to build Jaipur as the new capital for Rajasthan. So, the sole reason for building such a gigantic Haveli in the core of the city was to oversee the entire construction and development work of the city from one place. The haveli passed on from Maharaja Jai Singh to Maharaja Jagat Singh and from him to Maharaja Ram Singh II. Then he presented it to his Prime Minister Nawab Sir Faiz Ali Khan. Khan beautified the Haveli with big halls and gold paintings. The Haveli passed on to his descendants and as the last one, Mohammed Mukarrum did not have any son, it was again acquired by the Jaipur dynasty.
