SRI trials were carried out on the personal farm of the Regional Irrigation Manager of NIA Caraga Region 13 in 2003. The trials were observed by project managers from the Asian Development Bank, Southern Philippines Irrigation Sector Project, and provincial agricultural officials. Subsequently, SRI techniques were applied to irrigation projects in Lower Agusan, including visits by staff and farmers to learn from the demonstration farm.
