Editor's Notes

  • #3 Who will ever forget September 11, 2001. Although several years have already passed since the tragedy, and the nation has rallied together to rebuild the lives of those who suffered loss, some controversy still lingers.
  • #4 Did the government know that a terrorist attack was imminent?
  • #5 Should something have been done to prevent it?
  • #6 Has the war in Iraq really accomplished what it was intended to do?
  • #7 Although the terrorists have been identified, many questions haunt the minds of the people of America. (Fly in and read the four questions on the screen.)
  • #8 What does the future hold? Some predict hope – some anticipate horror.
  • #9 Psychics claim to be able to foretell the future (although they have to ask for your credit card number to pay for their services)
  • #10 In an article in the Sun, September 3, 2002, the author suggests that you can predict the future by looking at the shapes of clouds, or by receiving visions while looking at candles or mirrors, or by the body language of people you meet. Must we rely on such strange, silly things in order to know the future?
  • #11 What does the Bible say? Let’s consider what God has to say about the future.
  • #12 Our subject tonight is: The Forgotten Dream
  • #13 Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.

  • #15 Not all dreams that revealed future events were dreamed by prophets or followers of God. For example: Pharaoh, king of Egypt, had a dream of a 7-year famine that would follow 7 years of plenty. (Genesis 41) The butler and baker had dreams of their own futures. (Genesis 40) But the interpretations always came through God’s prophet.

  • #18 No doubt this caused a panic in Babylon. There are hundreds of people today who will offer an explanation for the meaning of things we dream. But who would really expect someone else to tell them what they dreamed? And yet this is exactly what King Nebuchadnezzar demanded of his wise men. He expected them to “read his mind” and tell him something even he did not know.

  • #22 Why did Daniel ask for time? Was he just stalling, trying to save a few more moments of life? No! He requested time so he would be able to pray to the God of heaven.
  • #23 “Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.”
  • #24 “Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven. Daniel answered and said: ‘Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His.’”

  • #26 Here we find a clue as to the dream’s meaning – It has to do with the “latter days.”
  • #27 Read question then use the Bible to fill in the answer in the study guide.
  • #28 No doubt as Daniel described the dream the king’s eyes began to light up. “Yes, yes, that’s it. That’s what I dreamed!! I saw an image like a man!”
