The document describes Shristi Pant's master's thesis from the University of Kentucky which proposes a secure online payment system. The thesis was submitted in 2011 to the Computer Science department in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a Master of Science degree. The thesis proposes a new approach to online payments where a customer's payment information is sent directly to a payment gateway instead of through a merchant, in order to protect the customer's sensitive financial data from being compromised. It uses the Pedersen commitment scheme and dual signatures to securely transfer funds to merchants while keeping customer payment information private.
This document discusses assistive technology that can help students with special needs and learning disabilities. It provides examples of technologies that can aid with tasks like hearing, reading, writing, and learning. Some examples mentioned are hearing loops, text-to-speech software, speech recognition tools, and adaptive devices like talking calculators. The document stresses that assistive technology encompasses both low-tech and high-tech options that can help individuals perform daily activities.
The document defines efficiency as producing goods and services at the lowest possible cost to provide the greatest value. Markets are efficient when marginal cost equals marginal benefit. When price is lower than value, consumers enjoy surplus, and when price exceeds costs, producers earn surplus. However, markets can be inefficient due to price controls, taxes/subsidies, monopoly, public goods, and externalities, resulting in deadweight loss to society.

Gamelets - Multiplayer Mobile Games with Distributed Micro-Clouds [Full Text]Anand Bhojan
This document proposes a system called Gamelets that uses distributed micro-clouds to improve cloud gaming for mobile devices. Gamelets are minimal hardware devices like WiFi access points that are placed close to mobile clients. They run parts of games to reduce latency and bandwidth usage compared to rendering entirely in centralized cloud servers. Key challenges include distributing game data across Gamelets, distributed rendering to share loads, and security issues from the distributed nature. The document outlines a prototype implementation that divides games into zones distributed across Gamelets and uses multiple cameras for distributed rendering loads. Gamelets aim to enable more types of cloud games on mobile by addressing latency and scalability issues of traditional cloud approaches.
PARVAI - HVS Aware Adaptive Display Power Management for Mobile GamesAnand Bhojan
Displays are one of the major system energy consumers in smartphones. Power consumption of Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) displays have direct relationship with the colour and intensity of the contents being displayed. Games are one of the most popular smartphone applications that consume relatively more resources and power. In this paper, we present Human Visual System (HVS) aware algorithms and techniques to reduce OLED display power consumption up to 45% while retaining the perceived quality of game content. We have implemented and evaluated our solution in the game Quake III and its Android port Kwaak3.

TIṬAL – Asynchronous multiplayer shooter with procedurally generated mapsAnand Bhojan
Would it be possible to bring the promise of unlimited re-playability typically reserved for Roguelike games to competitive multiplayer shooters? This paper tries to address this issue by proposing a novel method to dynamically generate maps at run-time almost as soon as players press the Play button, while ensuring the features what players would expect from the genre. The procedures are simple and practically
feasible to be employed in actual computer games. In addition, the work experiments the possibility of incorporating asynchronous game-play element into a multiplayer shooter with human imitating bots where the players can let their bot/avatar replace them when they are not around. The algorithms are implemented and evaluated with a playable game. The evaluations prove that playable 3D dynamic mapscan be generated in order of seconds using game context data to initialise the parameters of the algorithm. The paper also shows that asynchronous game-play element is a possible feature for consideration in next generation multiplayer shooters.
In this paper, we present simple and novel method to procedurally generate the game maps for multiplayer shooter games faster (in order of seconds) without compromising the expected features of a good multiplayer shooter environment.

The Annual Quality Statement for NHS Wales 2014: Delivering high quality heal...scarletdesign
The AQS is important because it presents information for the public and patients about services in NHS Wales in an accessible, easy-to-read format. It’s easy to get bogged down in data and statistics, and if figures are presented without any context then it’s hard to know if they represent good performance or whether urgent improvement is needed.
The All-Wales AQS is hopefully easy to read. It contains great examples of excellent care in Wales and notes when things could be better. It also includes links to the Annual Quality Statements produced by all the health boards and trusts in NHS Wales. These publications are important because we all want to know how well our local health services are doing.

The Ultimate Guide in Setting Up Market Research System in Health-TechGokul Rangarajan
How to effectively start market research in the health tech industry by defining objectives, crafting problem statements, selecting methods, identifying data collection sources, and setting clear timelines. This guide covers all the preliminary steps needed to lay a strong foundation for your research.
"Market Research it too text-booky, I am in the market for a decade, I am living research book" this is what the founder I met on the event claimed, few of my colleagues rolled their eyes. Its true that one cannot over look the real life experience, but one cannot out beat structured gold mine of market research.
Many 0 to 1 startup founders often overlook market research, but this critical step can make or break a venture, especially in health tech.
But Why do they skip it?
Limited resources—time, money, and manpower—are common culprits.
"In fact, a survey by CB Insights found that 42% of startups fail due to no market need, which is like building a spaceship to Mars only to realise you forgot the fuel."
Sudharsan Srinivasan
Operational Partner Pitchworks VC Studio
Overconfidence in their product’s success leads founders to assume it will naturally find its market, especially in health tech where patient needs, entire system issues and regulatory requirements are as complex as trying to perform brain surgery with a butter knife. Additionally, the pressure to launch quickly and the belief in their own intuition further contribute to this oversight. Yet, thorough market research in health tech could be the key to transforming a startup's vision into a life-saving reality, instead of a medical mishap waiting to happen.
Example of Market Research working
Innovaccer, founded by Abhinav Shashank in 2014, focuses on improving healthcare delivery through data-driven insights and interoperability solutions. Before launching their platform, Innovaccer conducted extensive market research to understand the challenges faced by healthcare organizations and the potential for innovation in healthcare IT.
Identifying Pain Points: Innovaccer surveyed healthcare providers to understand their difficulties with data integration, care coordination, and patient engagement. They found widespread frustration with siloed systems and inefficient workflows.
Competitive Analysis: Analyzed competitors offering similar solutions in healthcare analytics and interoperability. Identified gaps in comprehensive data aggregation, real-time analytics, and actionable insights.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensured their platform complied with HIPAA and other healthcare data privacy regulations. This compliance was crucial to gaining trust from healthcare providers wary of data security issues.
Customer Validation: Conducted pilot programs with several healthcare organizations to validate the platform's effectiveness in improving care outcomes and operational efficiency. Gathered feedback to refine features and user interface.

INTRODUCTION
It was great to welcome staff from across Wales for our
recent National Learning Event on Thursday 12th June.
The theme for the day was Making Sense of Prudent Healthcare,
and supported the publication of “Achieving prudent healthcare in
NHS Wales”, a new paper from 1000 Lives Improvement.
The programme focused on how the three key prudent healthcare
principles outlined in the paper were developed, and showcased
the work undertaken across Wales under the banner of prudent
healthcare.
We were delighted to welcome Professor Mary Dixon-Woods,
Professor of Medical Sociology at the University of Leicester, who
outlined the approaches needed by health boards and trusts to
balance demands for assurance and improvement.
Mary challenged organisations to measure what really matters in
delivering - and improving - care, and reinforced the role of both
data and soft intelligence to deliver prudent healthcare.
The presentations from the day and storyboards which share
organisation's progress across the programme areas are now
available online.
Throughout the event participants were asked to actively
contribute to discussions and text questions. Over 740 reponses
have been recorded, with these being synthesised, with the key
responses and themes being presented in this report.
